What to make of this????

Joe Biden Assassination Plot Thwarted After Man Arrested For Child Porn, Court Documents Show

Authorities arrested a North Carolina man for possessing child pornography

An investigation found the perpetrator planned to commit mass shootings and assassinate Joe Biden

They also found disturbing materials, including drawings of a plane crashing into a tower

A North Carolina man who was arrested for child pornography was also planning to assassinate Democratic presidential challenger Joe Biden, according to court documents.

A federal grand jury indicted Alexander Hillel Treisman, who also used the alias Alexander S. Theiss, in September after he was found in possession of child porn. However, an investigation of his electronic devices showed other disturbing information.

Authorities uncovered an abandoned van in Kannapolis, North Carolina, where they found dozens of weapons, including an AR-15-style rifle and explosive materials. Further investigation discovered that Treisman had an “affinity” for mass shootings, racist ideologies, and plans to kill Biden, court documents show.

A Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF) investigation found disturbing images on Treisman’s social media accounts, including an April 15 post on iFunny, where he released a photo with the text “Should I kill joe biden?” He also searched Biden’s home address several times and visited Wilmington, Delaware — the Democratic challenger’s hometown.

A search-warrant application found that the 19-year-old purchased an AR-15 in New Hampshire and traveled to a fast-food chain four miles from Biden’s home. He had also written a checklist that ended with the word “execute.”

Treisman had also conducted extensive research on state gun laws, rifle parts, and night vision goggles, FOX8 reported.

Authorities gathered evidence suggesting the perpetrator had made plans to leave the U.S. at one point. They discovered a doctored Polish passport on his hard drive, as well as an email to a Canadian law firm in which he asked about how to obtain Canadian citizenship.

His family and friends had reportedly cut off all communication with Treisman due to his comments about mass shootings and the 9/11 attack.

In an interview following the investigation, authorities questioned Treisman about the evidence found in his van, including drawings of a plane crashing into a building, The Daily Beast reported.

Huawei Revenue Growth Wilts Under 'Intense Pressure'

Huawei's revenue growth slowed significantly in the first nine months of 2020, the Chinese telecom giant said Friday, citing "intense pressure" on operations during the coronavirus and as the US moves to cut off its access to vital components.

Huawei, the leading global supplier of telecoms networking equipment and a top smartphone producer, said it grossed 671.3 billion yuan ($100.7 billion) in revenue in January-September, up 9.9 percent year-on-year.

That's down from 24.4 percent growth over the same period last year, while its profit margin fell to 8.0 percent from 8.7 percent last year.

Washington views Huawei, founded in 1987 by former People's Liberation Army engineer Ren Zhengfei, as a Chinese espionage threat and has lobbied allies to shun its gear while attempting to block its access to global semiconductor supplies.

"As the world grapples with Covid-19, Huawei's global supply chain was put under intense pressure and its production and operations saw increasing difficulties," the company said.

It vowed to "do its best to find solutions, to survive and forge ahead".

The brief announcement made no direct reference to the US pressure, nor did it include a performance breakdown for its various segments, such as smartphone sales. Privately held Huawei provides such details only for half-year and full-year earnings.

Protesters hit police horses as anti-lockdown rally sparks mayhem in Melbourne

Hundreds of anti-lockdown protesters have sparked mayhem in Melbourne, with police desperately trying to control the rowdy crowd amid blatant breaches of health directions.

The out-of-control crowd transformed into a rally, as protesters marched towards the Arts Centre while shouting "freedom" .

9News also captured aggression towards the police horses, demonstrators booting and wacking the animals in violent bursts of anger.

A protester can be heard yelling one horse was "racist".

Vision earlier showed police forming a ring around the protesters near the Shrine of Remembrance, with a number of individuals handcuffed and pinned to the ground for breaching COVID-19 restrictions.

While a tense stand-off erupted between protesters and police on Flinders Street, with demonstrators chanting "choose your side".

Premier Daniel Andrews condemned the protest action planned for today as "shameful" and "unlawful", despite public gatherings being permitted.

The demonstrations come as Melburnians have clocked up more than 100 days of tough lockdown.

The city's 25km travel limit is among the reasons for the action.

Melburnians are allowed to gather outside with a maximum of 10 people across two households.

"The shrine is a sacred place and not only is it wrong to protest, it is not safe, it is unlawful, and it is frankly shameful that anyone would seek to protest any issue at such a special place, a place that is regarded with such reverence because of what it symbolises," he said.

Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Luke Cornelius yesterday said police would not be hesitating to fine protesters if they breached health directions.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian's documents approving of council grants were shredded by her office

Documents which Premier Gladys Berejiklian signed to give her approval of millions of dollars in grants to local councils were later shredded, a NSW parliamentary inquiry has heard.

Key points:

The inquiry is investigating the allocation of $250 million worth of grants to local councils across NSW

Six grants were awarded to projects in the electorate of Wagga Wagga in 2017

At the time the Premier was in a secret relationship with Wagga Wagga MP Daryl Maguire

One of the Premier's senior policy advisers, Sarah Lau, told the inquiry she also deleted electronic copies of the notes.

The inquiry is investigating the allocation of $250 million worth of grants under the Stronger Communities Fund amid accusations of pork-barrelling in the run-up to the 2019 NSW election.

Nearly all the grants were awarded to local councils in Coalition-held seats.

The inquiry heard that $141.8 million of the grant funding was allocated by the Premier, with $61.3million allocated by the Deputy Premier John Barilaro and $48.9 million by the Minister for Local Government.

Two senior staff from the Premier's office were today called to give evidence on the process by which the grant money was allocated and approved.

Ms Lau said she prepared two working advice notes on which the Premier marked her approval of the grants.

She said she later destroyed the notes because she had sent an email recording the outcome.

"And how did you dispose of those working advice notes?" asked Labor MP John Graham.

"It's likely they would have been shredded," she replied.

The Premier's former chief of staff, Sarah Cruickshank, was asked whether it was routine practice in the Premier's office to destroy documents related to the spending of millions of dollars in public money.

"No, I would say it's not," she replied.

Ms Cruickshank was also quizzed about six grants worth just over $40,000 awarded by the Premier's Discretionary Fund to projects in the electorate of Wagga Wagga in 2017.

"Are you aware of the Premier making any disclosures about her relationship with Daryl Maguire before approving these funds?" asked Labor MP Courtney Houssos.

"No, I'm not," Ms Cruickshank replied.

She said MPs would typically write to the Premier to lobby for projects in their electorate.

But, under this particular scheme, the allocation of funding was totally at the discretion of the Premier.

Mr Graham: "If there was a decision where the Premier was making an allocation and there was any sort of conflict, there would have had to have been a conflict of interest declaration?"

Ms Cruickshank: "I'm actually not clear on whether or not if that's a requirement for the Discretionary Fund, however I accept that does sound plausible."

Mr Graham: "Are you aware of any declaration of a conflict of interest at any time in your role as Chief of Staff, for example over the Badgerys Creek deal or any other (deal)?"

Ms Cruickshank: "No, I'm not."

Greta Thunberg to Become Editor-in-Chief of Major Swedish Daily for a Day

Dagens Nyheter's real editor-in-chief Wolodarski admitted a legitimate risk of its independence being compromised by an outsider, yet maintained this was an exciting journalistic project and part of the newspaper's commitment to environmental issues.

Underage climate activist and media darling Greta Thunberg will become the editor-in-chief of Dagens Nyheter, the country's largest morning daily, for a day sometime at the beginning of December.

This stunt is rooted in the 17-year-old's incessant criticism of how the media handles the issue of climate change, most lately giving Dagens Nyheter a dressing down in mid-September. By becoming editor-in-chief, she will be able to show more concretely what she means by becoming involved in the decision-making process. The idea is a brainchild of Dagens Nyheter's editorial office.

Dagens Nyheter's perennial editor Peter Wolodarski underscored that not taking the climate issue seriously enough is the most common criticism the newspaper receives.

"We want to be better at illuminating this issue from a variety of perspectives, as one of the most important challenges we face as journalists. This is a way to do it and we are curious about what we will learn from her participation", Wolodarski told Dagens Nyheter.

When asked what the choice of news will be, Thunberg promised "not so many opinion pieces and disaster descriptions", but rather many "reviews that show what reality looks like, where we are right now, and which profoundly explain the climate crisis, as well as interviews with people who have a lot of knowledge, such as researchers".

Wolodarski admitted that while there is a legitimate risk Dagens Nyheter's independence may be compromised by an outsider, it will nonetheless be clear to readers that it is a special journalistic project for a single day.

"Greta Thunberg will work together with a group of editors at Dagens Nyheter on concrete ideas, and the journalistic work will be conducted according to current professional routines. We will report very openly how everything goes", Wolodarski explained.

He described this stunt as "part of a larger effort to evaluate the climate issue journalistically" and pledged to devote more resources to reporting on climate issues in everyday life.

"We want to be inspired by this and treat the climate crisis as the crucial issue it is. It affects us, our children, and our grandchildren", he underscored.

US NATO allies still short on defense spending targets

BRUSSELS — U.S. allies in Europe and Canada have increased defense spending for a sixth consecutive year but most of them will still fail to achieve a NATO spending ambition by the target date of 2024, according to new figures being discussed by defense ministers on Thursday.

NATO countries slashed their military budgets in the 1990s after the Cold War, but they were spurred back into action when Russia annexed Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula in 2014. That year, the allies pledged to halt the cuts and move toward spending 2 percent of their gross domestic product on defense by 2024.

According to the new data, France and Norway are forecast to join eight other countries spending at least 2 percent of their GDP on defense this year. Those others are Britain, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and the United States — which has a bigger budget than all 29 of its allies combined.

But the other 20 allies will not make the cut, according to the projections. Their spending ranges from just below 2 percent in Bulgaria, Croatia, North Macedonia, Slovakia and Turkey to less than 1 percent in Luxembourg. Canada and Italy are forecast to spend just under 1.5 percent this year.

The figures were being discussed Thursday by NATO defense ministers at a two-day videoconference.

Given that gross domestic product varies with economic growth, the impact of the coronavirus, which has ravaged world economies, probably plays a large part in pushing France and Norway over the 2% bar this year.

The 2 percent metric concerns only national defense budgets — what each country spends to meet the needs of its own armed forces — and has nothing directly to do with NATO itself. None of the 30 allies owes NATO or its members money. But bigger defense budgets mean that countries can do more together on their collective security.

Putin doesn’t rule out a future Russia-China military alliance

MOSCOW — Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday there is no need for a Russia-China military alliance now, but noted it could be forged in the future.

Putin’s statement signaled deepening ties between Moscow and Beijing amid growing tensions in their relations with the United States. The Russian leader also made a strong call for extending the last remaining arms control pact between Moscow and Washington.

Asked during a video conference with international foreign policy experts Thursday whether a military union between Moscow and Beijing was possible, Putin replied that “we don’t need it, but, theoretically, it’s quite possible to imagine it.”

Russia and China have hailed their “strategic partnership,” but so far rejected any talk about the possibility of their forming a military alliance.

Putin pointed to the war games that the armed forces of China and Russia held as a signal of the countries' burgeoning military cooperation.

Putin also noted that Russia has shared sensitive military technologies that helped significantly boost China’s military potential, but didn’t mention any specifics, saying the information was sensitive.

“Without any doubt, our cooperation with China is bolstering the defense capability of China’s army,” he said, adding that the future could see even closer military ties between the two countries.

“The time will show how it will develop,” the Russian president said, adding that “we won’t exclude it.”

Russia has sought to develop stronger ties with China as its relations with the West sank to post-Cold War lows over Moscow’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea, accusations of Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and other rifts.
