Joe Biden was a normal politician during his formative years in the Senate. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he was holding the position of a policy hawk against China in trade and other issues. However his position gradually changed as he warmed towards China Communist Party (CCP), and eventually become an advocate of China’s emergence as a global power, often defending China’s rise as beneficial to the United States prosperity.
How did Joe Biden become a Pro CCP Defendant and why? The answer may be found in his rise to a prominent position in U.S foreign policy that led him to have access to key CCP officials who influenced his stance on U.S – China foreign policy matters.
Early 2007
Joe Biden was re-elected as Chairman of Senate Foreign Relations Committee (SFRC), a powerful committee that determines the U.S policy positions towards foreign countries, and in this case China. Right after his re-elections, Joe Biden ran for office of Presidency.
As Joe Biden ascended to higher political office with Obama, A consultancy firm by the name of Thornton Group LLC (CEO : Lin) was founded by Lin, James Bulger (son of Mass Senator William Bulger). Thornton LLC played a pivotal role in connecting the US Legislature leaders to China on trade and economic forums and cooperative issues. The body is called State Legislative Leaders Foundation (SLLF), which was supposed to be Non-partisan and non-profit.
Thornton LLC helped connect SLLF to a number of high profile delegation meetings with Chinese officials throughout 2007 into 2014. For example, in Oct 2011, SLLF leaders met with National People’s Congress (NPC) Vice Chairman Xu Jialu, who oversaw China’s investments issues. After the meeting, SLLF chairman, Steve Lakis, praised the meeting in Beijing, and wrote : “I see fine opportunities here to inform and educate not just U. S. state legislative leaders and business leaders but, equally, our Chinese counterparts…I am proud SLLF will be playing a role in bringing our peoples together and I have no doubt that through our future programs, the Chinese will come to admire and respect Americans just as we will come to recognize how much common ground we share with these noble people.”
Shortly after BIDEN was named as Obama’s running mate in August, HUNTER Biden (son of Joe Biden) founded Seneca Global Advisors and the Beijing government approved the incorporation of Thornton Beijing – Solebury Thornton(Beijing)Consulting Co Ltd The events could not be pure coincidence.
2008 / 2009
As Joe Biden became the Vice President, Michael Lin (chairman of Thornton LLC) was also appointed to be SLLF’s Bureau Chief in Beijing. The same announcement included a photo of LIN and LAKIS (SLLF Chairman).
2010- 2011
Now, in April 2010, Hunter was officially introduced by Lin as chairman of Rosemont Seneca to several Chinese state-controlled financial institutions. Shortly after Joe Biden met with Chinas President Hu Jintao in 2011 and praised China : ” ?“China’s development and prosperity are in line with the interest of the U.S”, in comments on the university’s website.92 The Obama Whitehouse records published a transcript of the speech during which BIDEN said “Let me be clear — let me be clear: I believed in 1979 and said so and I believe now that a rising China is a positive development, not only for the people of China but for the United States and the world as a whole…In order to cement this robust partnership, we have to go beyond close ties between Washington and Beijing…”
As Hunter became more involved in Chinese deals with Chinese State Controlled Companies (SOEs) from the time his father became VP, we also see Joe Biden’s stance on China become increasingly softer.
