NASA Awards Houston Space Firm $47 Million Moon Drilling Contract

NASA selected Houston-based company Intuitive Machine to land an ice-mining drill on the moon's south pole by December 2022.

The space agency agreed to pay Intuitive Machines $47 million to land Polar Resources Ice Mining Experiment (PRIME-1) on the moon in the first-ever mining mission to drill below the lunar surface, in search of water ice. A mass spectrometer will be used to determine how much of the ice changes from solid to vapor on the lunar surface vacuum. The data will assist NASA's rover, the Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER), searching for water ice at the moon's pole to determine an area that will support a human presence in 2024.

"We continue to rapidly select vendors from our pool of Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program vendors to land payloads on the lunar surface, which exemplifies our work to integrate the ingenuity of commercial industry into our efforts at the Moon," said NASA's Associate Administrator for Science Thomas Zurbuchen.

"The information we'll gain from PRIME-1 and other science instruments and technology demonstrations we're sending to the lunar surface will inform our Artemis missions with astronauts and help us better understand how we can build a sustainable lunar presence," said Zurbuchen.

Intuitive Machines will fly the 88-pound PRIME-1 to the moon no later than December 2022 on its NOVA-C lander as part of CLPS. The company is one of several space firms selected by NASA to conduct robotic missions on the moon.

Intuitive Machines CEO Steve Altemus said in a statement that "laying the foundation to return humans to the moon is an incredible honor and even greater challenge… At Intuitive Machines, we're hungry for the pursuit of these audacious missions that will redefine what a small business is capable of."

PRIME-1 will drill down three feet below the lunar surface to search for buried water ice. According to NASA, it's not just water ice they're after; apparently, natural resources are abundant on the moon:

"PRIME-1 will give us tremendous insight into the resources at the moon and how to extract them," said Jim Reuter, NASA's associate administrator for space technology, in the NASA statement.

NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine recently said the space agency is set to purchase rare-earth materials mined from the moon by private companies. Not too long ago, NASA discovered that underneath the lunar surface, there is an abundance of natural resources.

Joe's Freudian Sniff? Joe Biden Just Said He's Got a Great VOTER FRAUD Operation Going

Some people who have seen the hastily hatched post-COVID voter rules in Democrat states know there are some serious ballot shenanigans going on this election. Now Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden has wittingly – or unwittingly – confirmed it. You just never know with Joe.

Was he misspeaking or just opening his mouth and removing the filter between his brain and mouth? Was it a Joe Bidenesque Freudian slip sniff?

Biden was holding a rare campaign event – via video – when he boastfully proclaimed that his campaign operates “the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics.”

Worse? He was cribbing from notes.

C’mon, man!

The problem is that though Joe may have just misspoken in another bumbling, Zoom campaign appearance using his crib notes, out here in the real world there is serious concern about real-time election manipulation.

The CEO of the polling company, The Trafalgar Group, believes President Trump will win Pennsylvania and could very well have it stolen through election fraud. Recent decisions by the Democrat Secretary of State and upheld by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court have changed voting rules on the fly, extending voting, not requiring validated signatures or postmarks.

None of these drastic, last-minute changes have been done by the state legislatures.

FLASHBACK: John Kerry on Peace in the Middle East Is the Best Argument for Trump

Yesterday, President Trump announced Sudan is the third Arab country that will normalize relations with Israel. Agreements with Sudan, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates have occurred without solving the Palestinian issue.

Listen to former Secretary of State John Kerry say this was just not possible in December of 2016:

“There will be no separate peace between Israel and the Arab world. I want to make that very clear to all of you.”

Really John? This looks like another thing our intellectual betters were wrong about. Kerry was openly questioning the insight of political leaders in Israel about the situation on the ground in the region. He emphatically stated there would be no advance and separate peace agreements between Isreal and the Arab world until there was an agreement with the Palestinians.

Now there are three. And there is no agreement with the Palestinians. Instead, they are becoming increasingly isolated as countries who used to financially support them grow increasingly frustrated with their intractable violence and inability to provide for their citizens.

None of these agreements would be possible without the blessing of Saudi Arabia, even though that nation has not announced anything yet. Listening to an interview with Jared Kushner, who led a team in negotiating these agreements, it sounds like our own experts’ resistance was more challenging than discussions with leaders in the region.

It makes you wonder just how entrenched in one way of thinking our establishment and bureaucracy are. They go to the same schools, work for the same think tanks, and join the same professional associations. They assure you they know what is best, but not much ever really seems to change.

It took an outsider in Donald Trump to shatter some of the old assumptions, especially when it comes to foreign policy. A business career is about results. Successful business leaders cannot let problems persist, or they cost money. And to be clear, persistent foreign policy issues can be terribly costly, especially when it involves our military.

It should make you wonder if failure to solve problems among our entrenched political class comes from an inability or a lack of desire. Persistent problems require “experts” who make a living by fixing nothing. A great gig if you can get it. These same “experts” warned every foreign policy move Trump made was going to start a war or backfire.

Their doomsday predictions never came true. Whether it was tariffs on China, pressuring our NATO allies to pay up, renegotiating trade deals, moving the embassy to Jerusalem, or killing General Soleimani, President Trump implemented his own strategy and won. Nothing has blown up, and there have been no new conflicts. No wonder they hate him.

This is actually the best argument for four more years. Our ossified bureaucracy and arrogant establishment were sorely in need of a shakeup. It took someone as impervious to criticism as Donald Trump to rattle their cages and shine a light on the need for new ideas to address decades-old problems.
