Isle of Wight: Police dealing with incident aboard ship in English Channel
Police are dealing with an ongoing incident on a crude oil tanker near the Isle of Wight, following local media reports of an attempted hijack.
The incident is occurring on a Liberian-registered Nave Andromeda, which was due to dock in Southampton earlier on Sunday but did not arrive.
The Independent has so far been unable to verify the claims of an attempted hijacking, but Hampshire Police confirmed they were attending an incident onboard a ship south of the island.
The Royal Navy has been informed of the incident but its assets are not involved at this stage, The Independent understands.
