Autumn at Sonnenberg Gardens: Fall at its finest at the stunning 1887 Sonnenberg Gardens Mansion in Canandaigua, NY today in Ontario County. Once the summer home of prominent New York City banker Frederick Ferris Thompson and his wife Mary Clark Thompson, a Canandaigua native (her father, Myron Holley Clark, was NYS Governor in 1855), it is situated on 50 acres of Finger Lakes Region beauty. When they purchased the property in 1863, they kept the name Sonnenberg, which means “sunny hill” in German. They replaced the farmhouse with this jaw dropping Queen Anne style mansion in 1887. Sonnenberg Gardens remains a treasure in the Finger Lakes Region
