There are many of us married to or living with zombies. It's not easy, but throwing family under the bus without giving them a chance to throw off their blinders and shackles doesn't sit with me at all.
Best thing is to be patient, let the plan work itself out, and "see what happens". You can always slam the door if you get offered the boot - should be a different world in a few years…

jurisdiction seems stretched pretty thin there
some are willing conspirators, but many are just "newsreaders", who take their orders from their corporate masters. Most of them have a Comm degree, PoliSci, theater or other liberal arts sheepskin. They came up the rungs, playing the game.
There may be some local reporting, but the majority of it is done by a very few, and the local politicians get to vet the stories more often than not.
