Changes to gatherings, hospitality under Melbourne's eased COVID restrictions on Monday

 

On a day where Victoria recorded zero coronavirus cases for the first time since June, Melbourne has finally received the confirmation further restrictions will ease.

 

Just 24 hours after he said metropolitan Melbourne’s next steps were at a “cautious pause” due to a virus outbreak in the northern suburbs, the premier held the announcement press conference.

 

“I can confirm what we’ve long waited for: Melbourne will move out of lockdown,” Daniel Andrews said on Monday.

Retail and hospitality will finally be able to reopen its doors and there are no more limits for leaving the home.

 

It will all happen from 11.59pm on Tuesday.

 

Hospitality

From Wednesday, hospitality and retail in metropolitan Melbourne will be able to reopen.

This includes cafes, restaurants and pubs.

 

There will be strict COVIDsafe plans in place and with a maximum of 20 people inside and 50 outside.

 

Gatherings

Gatherings will no longer be limited to two households outdoors as long as there is a maximum of ten people.

 

Home visits will not be announced until Tuesday.

 

Beauty services

Beauty and personal services will return from Wednesday, also with COVIDsafe plans in place including mask-wearing.

 

25km radius

The 25km radius was extended from 5kms on October 19.

 

On Monday, Andrews confirmed it will remain in place until November 8.

 

There will be no changes yet to the Ring of Steel separating metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
