Choosing not to use technology on a daily basis, is not the same as not understanding, appreciating, and utilizing on occasion. Many folks see the Amish as-if Luddite, which they are not. The Amish, just as many others who are not Amish, have plenty good reasons to NOT TRUST touchscreen black box unaccountable systems. Like most governments in general.

If one thinks the Amish are “getting away with not following the rules”, you’ve missed the mark bad. The Amish also, are NOT protected by religion either… they are “protected” by and only by the same laws and rules as the rest of people… what they have chosen to do is limit their liability with The System, by limiting their use of it. The Amish just like other “independents” have and do mind you, pay a much higher “tax” by way of hard work, and by compromise maintain tighter communities to better afford isolation from the larger (dangerously chaotic) world. No easy path that is.
