I've been pondering this for the past 7 months. I work for a relatively small (< 500 employees) but extremely profitable company in the financial services space. For all the years I've been there, you would never hear or read any politically charged or social justice rhetoric from the senior team. But in these past 7 months:

1. The company was sending out CDC-style talking points and moved to work-from-home at the very beginning – in February

2. We have received emails from the senior team speaking of their white priviledge

3. We now have an inclusion and diversity committee to assess how we can be more inclusive and diverse (note: senior team is all white jews)

4. We have had several new hires and interns this year. Never has their been anything in the communications other than name and background. But, for 3 recent new hires, there was also a picture included. Every one was a black female

Anecdotally interesting, but not related, despite constantly being told doom and gloom stories, we are on track for record bonuses this year. (If I told you what I was scheduled to receive, you'd vomit)

If I haven't been here for the past 3 years, I would have thought all that is odd. But, now I think they are in a panic.

This is exactly what has my hairs standing up. The senior team has about the brightest people I've ever met. They've turned a million dollar investment into a business that has assets in the hundrreds of billions of dollars. They never had any messaging outside of "the business" before. It definitely feels like they are getting pressure from outside

Feel free to remove the word Jew and replace with "old and crusty" from the sentence. It's still a company that never felt the need to inject a social justice message until recently
