US Consulate Staffer Reportedly Jailed in Turkey For Aiding 'Terror Group'

According to a court ruling, an employee has been sentenced to more than five years in jail.

A court in Turkey has sentenced a local staffer at the US consulate in Istanbul for helping a "terror group", the Anadolu state-run news agency reported.

Nazmi Mete Canturk, a Turkish citizen who worked at the consulate, was sentenced to five years, two months and 15 days on charges of "helping" the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), a movement which Ankara believes stood behind the failed coup in 2016, the agency added. In July, another staffer at the consulate, Metin Topuz, was sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison for aiding FETÖ.

Judge in Flynn case asks Justice Department to swear FBI records not altered

The judge overseeing the prosecution of former national security adviser Michael Flynn ordered the Justice Department to swear that FBI records weren’t altered beyond the accidental attachment of yellow sticky notes indicating estimated dates for the documents.

Attorney General William Barr’s Justice Department filed the documents in federal court in Washington in support of its request to drop the Flynn prosecution. The photocopies of hand-written notes by former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and Peter Strzok, the onetime agent who started the 2016 probe into Russian election interference, accidentally included the attached post-its containing the dates.

After the notes were made public in the court docket, both McCabe and Strzok alerted the court that they hadn’t included the dates. The government has said the notes “were otherwise unaltered” but U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan said he wants assurances.

Sullivan on Friday gave the Justice Department until Oct. 26 to submit declarations “pursuant to penalty of perjury” affirming the authenticity of the evidence, noting that “the government has acknowledged that altered FBI records have been produced by the government and filed on the record in this case.”

Flynn twice pleaded guilty to lying to federal agents about his contacts with Russia’s ambassador in 2016, but later retracted his guilty plea. The Justice Department now argues the case against him was cooked up by FBI staff, including McCabe and Strzok, who sought to undermine President Donald Trump’s administration. The U.S. has pointed to the notes to support its argument as Sullivan weighs dismissal.

Anti-Trump ‘Lincoln Project’ To Become Full-Blown Media Business Post-Election

Popular anti-Trump organization The Lincoln Project is set to become a political media company after this year’s Presidential election, according to a new Axios story.

The “never-Trump” PAC recently signed a deal with United Talent Agency to build “Lincoln Media”, Axios reports. There are talks of developing more podcasts, books and potentially a TV show, Axios says

The organization, which was founded by numerous ex-GOP figures like Rick Wilson, Steve Schmidt, and George Conway, has amassed more than 2.6 million Twitter followers and nearly one million Facebook followers. They have gained attention via moves like buying giant ads in Times Square and creating viral anti-Trump videos on social media.

Now, the group will seek to leverage that following into expanding its current media portfolio, which includes the Lincoln Project Podcast and two streaming shows on LPTV, which can be seen on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. The company is currently working on a documentary, discussing a “House of Cards” like TV show, and investigating the possibility of bringing its LPTV programming to traditional television, according to Axios.

America Kills Seven Senior al-Qaeda Leaders in a Syria Airstrike - US Military

The United States believes it killed seven senior leaders of al-Qaeda in Syria in an airstrike last week as they were meeting near the Turkish border, US Central Command said Monday.

A Central Command spokeswoman, Major Beth Riordan, said the strike was conducted in Idlib, in northwest Syria, on October 22. She did not identify the seven leaders by name.

‘The removal of these AQ-S leaders will disrupt the terrorist organization's ability to further plot and carryout global attacks threatening U.S. citizens, our partners, and innocent civilians,’ she said.

‘AQ-S takes advantage of the instability in northwest Syria to establish and maintain safe havens to coordinate terrorist activities,’ she added. ‘With our allies and partners, we will continue to target al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations.’

In total 17 jihadists died in the strike, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Franken and Garofalo to host Liberal Radio

NEW YORK - Comedian Al Franken is baiting conservatives again, and this time he's bringing along a bunch of friends to back him up.

Franken will be the lead personality on Air America Radio, a startup venture promising a liberal alternative to powerhouse radio talk show pundits like Rush Limbaugh.

The backers of Air America announced their programming lineup on Wednesday and said they planned to launch the network on March 31 in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco.

Franken will be joined by fellow TV comedian Janeane Garofalo (news), both of whom will have co-hosts for their live three-hour shows. Other shows will be hosted by Randi Rhodes, a radio personality from southern Florida, and Lizz Winstead, a co-creater of "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central.

Franken, in a swipe at Fox News host Bill O'Reilly, plans to call his midday show "The O'Franken Factor."

"Bill, I want you to sue us," Franken said on a conference call with reporters, referring to a case last year in which a judge threw out O'Reilly's request to ban Franken from using the slogan "Fair and Balanced" on the cover of his book. The ruling turned into a bonanza of publicity for Franken.

However, it seems unlikely another lawsuit is in the offing. Asked to respond to Franken's remarks, Robert Zimmerman, a spokesman for Fox News said: "All forms of free speech are welcomed in this country. We wish them well."

There’s been a lot of talk lately about whether or not the fast-tracked COVID-19 vaccine will in fact be safe and effective. While vaccine makers insist that any vaccine reaching the market will have undergone rigorous testing, the way trial protocols are designed suggests these vaccines may leave a lot to be desired.

As reported1 by Forbes contributor William Haseltine, a former professor at Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health, while Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson have all published their vaccine trial protocols in a rare display of transparency, “close inspection of the protocols raises surprising concerns.”

In a nutshell, the trial designs are such that the vaccines will get a passing grade even if their efficacy is minimal. Of course, we must also consider vaccine side effects and I’ve also written several articles about mounting safety concerns.

Seems that they’re cutting physics. At least those instructors should be able to find other positions in teaching and industry.

Not many American students these days have the chops to study physics. Too much softening of the secondary school curriculum.

President Trump nominated for 2021 Nobel Peace Prize

The President has been nominated for another Nobel Peace Prize, this time for his work with North Korea. This marks the first nomination for President Trump for the 2021 Nobel award season.

The President was nominated by national security expert Dr. Peter Pry and colleagues for his work in de-escalating nuclear threats from Pyongyang and “deterring nuclear war.”

President Trump has been nominated five times this year so far, though four of those nominations were for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize.
