It took under one minute for a swarm of looters to ransack a black-owned boutique in Philadelphia as demonstrations mounted over the death of Walter Wallace Jr.

The City of Brotherly Love this week transformed into the site of both peaceful demonstrations and civil unrest as Wallace Jr., 27, became one of 804 black men killed by police this year.

At least 200 small businesses were targeted by looters, including La'Vanter Boutique, where owner Jameelah Scurry arrived on Tuesday to find it a shell of its former self.

'We are now in danger of losing everything we worked so hard for,' Scurry said Wednesday, adding 'we had everything taken from us in less than a minute.'

They grab items from around the store, with one woman shouting, 'I hope we do not get caught!'

Seconds later, at least 20 other people flood into the small boutique and begin pulling it apart by the seams. Clothes are desperately snatched from the rack, accessories pulled down from shelves and hangers tossed haphazardly onto the ground.

The incident happened just two months after La'Vanter Boutique was first looted on August 27, around the time demonstrations began over the police-involved shooting of Jacob Blake.

Cuomo killed Nana

Janice Dean is going to be pissed!

Governor Andrew Cuomo appeared on The View Thursday morning and pushed back hard on specific criticism he has received over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Co-host Sunny Hostin asked him about a recent report that the Department of Justice is looking into the deaths of 6,000 nursing home deaths that allegedly came due to his direction to place patients infected with Covid-19 back in facilities during the earliest days of the pandemic.

Cuomo opened with a rather Trumpian dig, saying with mock surprise, “What a shock that the ‘Department of Injustice’ sends a letter a few days before an election trying to advance a political theory.” He then went to attack the coronavirus efforts led by President Donald Trump, saying, “They have done a terrible job on Covid from day one, and they want a counterdefense, and what they were saying was, well, a lot of people died in nursing homes in Democratic states.”

“The truth is people are dying today in nursing homes in Republican states,” he continued, “It’s just that Democratic states had the disease worse and earlier, and older people are more vulnerable to Covid, right?”

“If you look at how many people died in New York nursing homes, New York is number 46 out of 50 states in the percentage of deaths in nursing homes,” he added. “So the conspiracy they’re trying to spread just has no factual basis

Andrew Cuomo: “We’re No. 46 out of 50 states… we’re 46th in terms of percentage of deaths in nursing homes.”

PolitiFact’s ruling: Mostly False

Nursing home residents who develop serious illness and need to be treated in a hospital, and do not recover, are not counted as part of the state’s nursing home deaths

When President Trump emerged from Walter Reed Medical Center, he seemed pretty convinced the treatment he was given was a cure for COVID-19. He reported feeling better almost immediately after being given Regeneron, a polyclonal antibody formula. Yesterday, Regeneron published the results of the first three phases of their trials for treating COVID-19.

Regeneron has completed the required randomized, double-blind studies that Dr. Fauci insists on. At the end of September, the company reported that the treatment reduced viral levels in a study of 275 patients who had no evidence of an immune response before receiving the therapy:

“The first job of an antiviral therapeutic drug is to lower the viral load, and our initial data in 275 patients strongly suggested that the REGN-COV2 antibody cocktail could lower viral load and thereby potentially improve clinical outcomes. Today’s analysis, involving more than 500 additional patients, prospectively confirms that REGN-COV2 can indeed significantly reduce viral load and further shows that these viral reductions are associated with a significant decrease in the need for further medical attention,” said George D. Yancopoulos, M.D., Ph.D., President and Chief Scientific Officer of Regeneron.

This dishonest attack on HCQ, even though millions of patients worldwide have taken this medication safely for decades, is an indictment of the agency. According to Yale epidemiologist Dr. Harvey Risch:

There is extensive evidence that HCQ, when used within the first five days of symptom onset, produces a sharp and statistically significant reduction in hospitalization and mortality. Seven controlled, well-conducted clinical studies show this: 636 outpatients in São Paulo, Brazil; 199 clinic patients in Marseille, France; 717 patients across a large HMO network in Brazil; 226 nursing-home patients in Marseille; 1,247 outpatients in New Jersey; 100 long-term care institution patients in Andorra (between France and Spain); and 7,892 patients across Saudi Arabia.

All of these studies pertain to the early treatment of high-risk outpatients, and all showed 50% or higher reductions in hospitalization or death. Not a single fatal cardiac arrhythmia attributable to the HCQ was reported among these thousands of patients. In addition, a new summary analysis of five randomized controlled trials has also shown a statistically significant outpatient benefit, proving the case.
