There wasn't much racial BS in my little town until BLM agitators set their eyes on tearing down our 104 year old statue. They had been told a good 10 years ago that they could have an even better location for a statue of their own devising ... but never got their shit together enough to get a proposal to the county. Not a design, not a dime in funding. Nothing.

Now there is plenty of distrust. Blacks and Whites, Mexicans and Asians who had gotten along for years no longer trust each other. We no longer know which individuals to trust ... so we have to distrust them all.

There are tensions here I haven't known in the 11 years I've lived here and I don't like them. I'm seeing animus from other white people that is simply unacceptable. And getting looks from Blacks that I have never seen before now, too. We went from a town which was divided, but cooperative, to a town that is divided and antagonistic. Allowed to continue, this cannot end well.
