BALTIMORE (WBFF): "A commission documenting the history of lynching in Maryland has just received a $300,000 grant from the Department of Justice, announced Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh. The Commission will pursue and honor the victims of these human and civil rights murders, because we believe that the descendants and relatives are owed this truth.

The grant will be used to "research and address the legacy of unsolved lynchings that occurred in the State of Maryland."

According to the news release, 43 racially-motivated lynchings were committed in Maryland through the 19th and 20th century. No one has been tried, convicted, or otherwise brought to justice for the crimes."
