To be fair, the industrial uses of gold and other platinum groups are extremely limited, costly, and poorly developed due their low supply. Silver is about as industrial as it gets beyond the use of platinum and palladium as catalysts. Gold is almost exclusively bullion or jewelry and iridium is an amusing curiosity if you can get enough of it to dick around with.
