It's a very fair question. I hope the following helps:

When Jesus was on this earth He had disciples that learned from Him. When Jesus resurrected from the dead he ascended in to heaven and sat at the right hand of the Father, as is told to us in scripture.

Jesus left behind an organized group of disciples, not a disorganized mess. Jesus said to Peter that "on this rock (Peter) I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it." Since that time, Peter, as the first leader, has been known as the first Pope and was regarded as such for over 1,000 years until a protest movement (aka protestantism) arose in the 1,400's under the leadership of a disgruntle Cathoilic monk (priest) named Martin Luther. Catholic is a term meaning "universal."

Satan has been warring against the Church ever since it started after Jesus ascended in to heaven. Satan even tried to get Jesus to commit treason against God by showing Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and offering them to Jesus if He would bow down and worship satan. Of course, Jesus rejected satan's offer.

Satan has been successful, however, in infiltrating the Church over the last 2,000 years. But, this fact does not invalidate the Church any more than the fact that our country is infiltrated invalidates our country. Both are in desperate need of reform.

Why does these things matter? Because God and His Church matter. The writings of those who are good and faithful to God, and are WOKE, give us an inside look in to what is truly going on in this world. These things matter because it is critically important to follow faithful shepherds along the path of life who can keep you from deception. Archbishop Vigano is one of those.

Pray and ask God to lead you in to all truth and He will. Stay open to how He leads you.

God bless you.

>Is the church always in lock step with the pope?

No. We have had good popes and bad ones just like we've had good POTUS's and bad ones. Right now, many in the church oppose what this current pope (Francis) is doing because he is not good.
