‘Destroy Trump Ballots’ Demands NYT, Atlantic Mag Writer

A writer at the Intercept – the leftist news site from which founder Glenn Greenwald recently resigned over pro-Biden bias – has tweeted in favor of “destroying Trump ballots” a number of times.

Jon Schwarz, who is also published at mainstream outlets including The New York Times and The Atlantic, also advocates for illegal immigrants to vote repeatedly in presidential elections.

Schwarz identifies himself as an alum of filmmaker Michael Moore’s Dog Eat Dog Films and “a research producer for Moore’s “Capitalism: A Love Story.”

“He’s contributed to many publications, including the New Yorker, the New York Times, The Atlantic, the Wall Street Journal, Mother Jones, and Slate, as well as NPR and “Saturday Night Live,” his bio also claims.

Schwarz’s Twitter account, however, contains a litany of tweets advocating for the destruction of “Trump ballots” dating all the way back to 2016.

BUSTED: Facebook bans pro-Trump group, President shines the spotlight, Facebook REVERSES and blames ‘error’

Just think how much censorship big tech gets away with every day, when there is no spotlight to force their hand. They were caught, this time, when President Donald Trump drew international attention to the oppression of a Facebook group “New Jersey Women For Trump” which was BANNED without explanation just days before the election.

NJ.com reported that “on Saturday morning there were more than 29,000 members in a private Facebook group for New Jersey women who support President Trump. But “by Saturday afternoon the group was gone.”

Priscilla Confrey, co-director of New Jersey Women For Trump, says Facebook did not send her any notifications about the removal or explain why the group was removed.

Their story got out and began circulating online and eventually President Trump took notice. On Sunday morning, he gave it the biggest amplification in the world: a Trump Tweet.

WHO Special Envoy On COVID Reiterates Caution Against Lockdowns As Primary Virus Plan

“You don’t want to use those as your primary, and I stress that…”

As the nations of Germany and France brace to hunker-down under fresh new lockdown measures to combat the spread of COVID-19, a Special Envoy of the World Health Organization has reiterated previous caution of using lockdowns as a primary method of combating the virus.

WHO’s special envoy on COVID-19, Dr. David Nabarro, cautioned in a Thursday interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today that full national lockdowns should be used only as a “reserve” measure to control the coronavirus, describing such actions as very extreme.

Nabarro, who was appointed in February as one of six special envoys tasked to deal with the coronavirus response, warned that national lockdowns are “a very extreme restriction on economic and social life” that temporarily “freezes the virus in place.”

“You don’t want to use those as your primary, and I stress that, primary, means of containment. Because in the end living with the virus as a constant threat means maintaining the capacity to find people with the disease and isolating them,” Nabarro said.

MI restaurants, bars required to take customers' names, phone numbers starting Monday

Restaurants and bars in Michigan will be required to record the names and phone numbers of all of their customers starting Monday.

"All dine-in food service establishments must maintain accurate records of the names and phone numbers of patrons who purchase food for consumption on the premises, and the date and time of entry," the new order reads.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services introduced the new rule on Thursday "to aid in contact tracing and case investigation efforts." The order was issued on the same day Michigan set its daily coronavirus case record at 3,675, with 41 deaths.

The new rule also limits non-residential indoor gatherings without fixed seating to 50 people, and individual tables to six people.

Facebook removes 29K-member pro-Trump group, reinstates after Trump blasts on Twitter

Facebook removed "New Jersey Women For Trump," a private group with over 29,000 members, from its platform on Saturday. President Trump reacted to the story the same day, saying, "Put them back NOW!"

"People are really, really mad," said Priscilla Confrey, co-director of the group. "When you have that many people and they're shut down, they feel silenced.

It was a lot of work over the past year for a private group to just be shut down without notification.

Three days before Election Day? That is absolutely appalling. I just think these companies, these social media groups, have too much power. They offer to you to open up a group on their social media platform, and you could have 30,000 members, and they shut it down without telling you anything."

Confrey said Facebook flagged posts on the group's page in the last two weeks, including posts related to the coronavirus. She said she deletes any posts that get flagged.

Roughly 11 hours after Trump tweeted at Facebook, the account was restored and the ban was blamed on an "enforcement error," the president tweeted.

Judicial candidates on the campaign trail

Campaigns this year that have not drawn much news coverage are the races for judicial offices. Despite their interest in contested judicial elections the Buffalo News has avoided making endorsements. Ethical restraints necessarily and wisely placed on judicial candidates prevent them from fully and appropriately engaging.

That makes peer review very important in judicial races. The WNY area has four bar associations that appoint committees whose members thoroughly review judicial candidates’ qualifications, rate the candidates, and attempt to publicize their ratings.

Greenan’s failure to request bar association ratings is worth noting. The public should have some fair and objective guidance from lawyers whose exposure to their fellow lawyers and judges can provide invaluable insight into candidates’ qualifications, temperament and abilities. Fair, impartial, knowledgeable, intelligent and hardworking judges are more important than ever in today’s polarized environment.

Facebook staffers walk out saying Trump's posts should be reined in

(Reuters) - Facebook employees walked away from their work-from-home desks on Monday and took to Twitter to accuse Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg of inadequately policing U.S. President Donald Trump’s posts as strictly as the rival platform has done.

Reuters saw dozens of online posts from employees critical of Zuckerberg's decision to leave Trump's most inflammatory verbiage unchallenged where Twitter had labeled it. Some top managers participated in the protest, reminiscent of a 2018 walkout at Alphabet Inc's GOOGL.O Google over sexual harassment.

It was a rare case of staff publicly taking their CEO to task, with one employee tweeting that thousands participated. Among them were all seven engineers on the team maintaining the React code library which supports Facebook’s apps.
