The Electoral College vote doesn't happen until December 14. That's the real deadline.

And the twist is that several Dem states that currently have a law that the popular vote winner is the forced vote of the electors can suddenly change that law and allow their electors to vote differently in the event that 45 wins the popular vote in their state.
