Oregon Gov. Kate Brown declared a state of emergency in Portland on Monday and has readied the National Guard for possible deployment, as fears surrounding election unrest intensify.

The state of emergency, which marks the second time this month such a declaration has been made in the city, will last from 5 p.m. Monday to 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to OPB. Law enforcement has also been instructed to protect voters from intimidation, the local outlet reported.

“I want to be very, very clear that voter intimidation and political violence will not be tolerated,” Brown told OPB. “Not from the left, not from the right and not from the center. Not this week, not any week in Oregon.”

Brown has also put the Oregon State Police and Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office in charge of the city’s law enforcement response instead of the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), according to the local outlet. The governor intended to mandate that other agencies lead in an effort to allow non-lethal munitions to be in use, as PPB has been prohibited from using such implements against rioters in the past, OPB reported.

Philadelphia officials are denying a Trump campaign operative’s allegation that Republican poll watchers are being excluded from voting sites around the city.

Mike Roman, the Trump campaign’s national Election Day operations director, retweeted a video early Tuesday morning that appears to show a Republican poll watcher being turned away from a polling place in the city.

Roman added: “DEMOCRAT ELECTION OFFICIALS BANNING TRUMP POLL WATCHERS IN PHILLY. This is happening all over the City. The steal is on!”

Kevin Feeley, a spokesperson for the Philadelphia City Commissioners, which run the city’s elections, told ProPublica that Roman’s allegation is flatly untrue.

“Nonsense,” Feeley said. “That’s not happening.”

Feeley said the video represented an isolated incident and was the result of confusion about whether poll watchers had to be assigned to particular locations or could roam around the city. He said poll watchers are permitted to visit multiple voting sites. “The mistake was corrected, and the guy was admitted,” Feeley said. “We remain confident that the election will be open, honest and produce accurate results.”

Man charged with 12 felony counts after allegedly setting fires near East Troublesome Fire

Christopher Linsmayer, the accused man, is the Denver DA's husband

GRAND COUNTY, Colo. — A man has been formally charged with 12 counts of felony arson after allegedly setting fires during a fire ban in Grand County between Oct. 27 and Oct. 29, 2020.

Christopher Linsmayer, 68, faces 12 counts of felony fourth-degree arson and 12 counts of misdemeanor fourth-degree arson, according to the 14th Judicial District Attorney's Office. He allegedly set the fires in the Gorewood Subdivision in Grand County near Kremmling, not too far from where the 193,804-acre East Troublesome Fire has been burning.

Linsmayer is Denver District Attorney Beth McCann's husband.

Court records show Linsmayer previously faced two counts of having an open fire without a burn permit in Grand County, stemming from a November 2016 incident. Those charges were dismissed by the district attorney in March 2017, according to records.

According to Sky-Hi News reports, a 10-acre wildfire, known as the Gore Ridge Fire, started on Linsmayer’s property in September 2016 and spread to a neighboring property, causing over $100,000 in damage. He was also charged in August 2019 with fourth-degree arson and violating a county ordinance, according to court records.
