The New Contras’ Insurgence Against Legacy Media Is Only Getting Hotter

Starved of true intellectual debate by the likes of The New York Times’ op-ed page, Americans are turning to a more interesting and more compelling alternative.

When Glenn Greenwald announced he was departing The Intercept last week, he did it on Twitter and Substack. The infamously troublesome and fearlessly principled writer, who has in more than a decade of journalism earned respect from even his strongest critics, quit the media entity he co-founded out of frustration with an editorial process that wanted to silence him.

Greenwald’s fury expressed on the No. 1 show on cable news the next evening, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” illustrated how turbulent and bizarre the ideological winds have become. Here was Greenwald, Edward Snowden’s interlocutor, raining lightning bolts on the notoriously hawkish Fox News, speaking to an ex-Weekly Standard writer turned neocon critic, about how his publication — funded by eBay leftist Pierre Omidyar — refused to allow him any criticism of Joe Biden, and instead embraced the opinions of the same American Deep State Greenwald has constantly (and often justifiably) criticized.

Greenwald pointed out that the only article to reference the Hunter Biden story on the site he co-founded did so “very snidely and dismissively to say that no one should pay attention to it because it was Russian disinformation, and it cited a letter from John Brennan, James Clapper, and the rest of the goons from the CIA and the intelligence community asserting it. And worse still, that letter said we have no evidence that Russia is involved in any of this. The Intercept omitted that phrase.”

It might be easy to dismiss Greenwald’s move as just an eccentric journalist making a move — “There he goes off to his room to write that hit song, ‘Alone in My Principles.’” Except Greenwald is not alone. He is now one of an ecosystem of rebellious thinkers who have removed themselves from corporate and non-profit media to strike out on their own, confident that their readers, fans, and even critics will follow them into a new galaxy. There, instead of subscribing to a glossy magazine with Jann Wenner’s terrible five-star reviews of aging Boomer rockstars, you do the equivalent of buying Matt Taibbi a beer every month.

These are the new contrarians — call them the New Contras for short, because the one thing they all have in common is refusing the wokeness that dominates legacy media, and has created a practically religious climate of insufferable identity politics. It is no accident that in the week prior to ejecting himself, Greenwald appeared on the O.G. podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” and with the newest dominant player on the block, Megyn Kelly. Rogan, Kelly, and Carlson represent media players who have moved beyond the traditional limits of cable and truly control their own product output — and in doing so, command more relevance than any of the newsreaders who operate within the world of the past.

CoVid Test is Worthless According to World Health Organization!

"Boris Johnson has sold out his country

as have most leaders across the globe.

They have deceived and commit gross fraud

at the expense of lives, livelihoods, and their economy,

subjecting The People to dire straits, inexcusable lockdowns,

failed businesses and unemployment.

They have manipulated, propagandized,

and deliberately subjected citizens to senseless panic,

fear and suicide."

After a leaked memo revealed that Boris Johnson was considering a one-month total lockdown beginning Monday, today he announced a one-month total lockdown beginning NOW. [He also announced plans to use the army to test 500,000 people in Liverpool.]

Why?

The UK had the sixth-largest economy in the world with the services sector contributing 75% to GDP. The average age of a CoVid victim death is revealed to be greater than the UK life expectancy… And those that will be hit the hardest by a renewed lockdown - are the young people. Their lives are being trashed.

The last lockdown caused the UK GDP to contract by 9.2%, so hey another 9% loss is old hat…right? For the Greater Good of those in Nursing Homes over the age of 80!

The UK reports annual flu deaths from flu average 17,000 with an additional pneumonia count of roughly 30,000. Lumped together = 47,000. To date the UK claims they have 394 flu deaths and maybe 13,000 deaths due to pneumonia. But they are not really sure. That would indicate a drop in flu and pneumonia cases by 71.5%.

Upwards of 617,000 people die each year in the UK. But here is an interesting anomaly in how the UK determines UK CoVid deaths - according to their government health site, they include 'nonresidents' & illegal immigrants. WHAT?

According to data released in September, CoVid ranked 24th as the cause of death in the UK. As of September 1, the total number of deaths in the UK were registered 365,889.

A simple extrapolation would reveal roughly 45,625 people have died each month in the UK over an 8-month time frame. Assuming the same death rate for the last four months of the year, an additional total would reach 182,500. Adding that to the currently registered deaths - a total death count for the year would reach 547,500 or 11% BELOW the previous year's death count.

When a death certificate mentions numerous factors contributing to death, when CoVid is mentioned at all, 92% of the deaths are attributed to CoVid and NOT any other cause - again according to their own Health Ministry. The annual death rate for the UK has been steadily increasing since 2013. When the rate was 9.004 per 1,000. Today the rate is 9.413 per 1,000 - on par with an influx of immigrants.

Danish Military Intelligence Uses XKEYSCORE to Tap Cables in Cooperation with NSA

In an extensive piece from September 13, the renowned Danish newspaper Berlingske (founded in 1749) describes how the FE, in cooperation with the NSA, started to tap an international telecommunications cable in order to gather foreign intelligence.

In the mid-1990s, the NSA had found out that somewhere under Copenhagen there was a backbone cable containing phone calls, e-mails and text messages from and to countries like China and Russia, which was of great interest for the Americans.

Tapping that cable, however, was almost impossible without the help of the Danes, so the NSA asked the FE for access to the cable, but this request was denied, according to Berlingske.

Agreement with the United States

The US government did not give up, and in a letter sent directly to the Danish prime minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, US president Clinton asked his Danish colleague to reconsider the decision. And Nyrup, who was a sworn supporter of a close relationship with the US, said yes.

The cooperation was laid down in a document, which, according to Berlingske, all Danish defense ministers had to sign “so that any new minister could see that his predecessor – and his predecessors before his predecessors – with their signatures had been part of this small, exclusive circle of people who knew one of the kingdom’s biggest secrets.”

The code name for this cooperation is not known, but it’s most likely part of the NSA’s umbrella program RAMPART-A. Under this program, which started in 1992, foreign partners provide access to high-capacity international fiber-optic cables, while the US provides the equipment for transport, processing and analysis…

Evidence of Biden Payments from China Support Tony Bobulinski and Show the Bidens Made Millions Swindling America

The MSM, Democrats and the Biden Campaign are complaining that the Tony Bobulinski story is a lie. They want Americans to believe that Hunter and Joe Biden are men of character and Bobulinski is the man lacking integrity. Unfortunately for this corrupt group, we have evidence that proves Bobulinski right.

Yaacov Apelbaum at the Illustrated Primer reports:

Several MSM outlets have been challenging the validity of Tony Bobulinski’s claims regarding Joe Biden’s and his brother Jim’s involvement with Hunter’s China business activity. The latest NY Post forensic evaluation confirmed that Bobulinski’s email was legit. But apparently, this is not good enough for propaganda outlets like CNN, NYT and WaPo which continue to challenge these emails and any claim of “family” involvement.

Apelbaum claims to have a small sampling of documents and other digital evidence confirming Bobulinski’s assertions are legit.

Biosensor Chips To Test DNA For COVID-19 By 2021

Press Release Roswell Biotechnologies

Roswell Biotechnologies, Inc., the leader in molecular electronics sensor chips, and imec, a world-leading research and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies, announced today a partnership to develop the first commercially available molecular electronics biosensor chips. These chips are the brains behind Roswell Technologies’ powerful new platform for DNA sequencing, to support precision medicine, molecular diagnostics, rapid infectious disease testing, and DNA data storage.

“The urgent need for a new generation of rapid, low-cost, consumer surveillance and diagnostics tools has been made extremely clear in the current COVID-19 pandemic,” said Roswell President & CEO Paul Mola. “In that area, the Roswell molecular electronic platform will transform the way infectious diseases are detected, with powerful new capabilities that enable, rapid screening of many infectious diseases at once, or many viral strains, with portable or handheld devices.”

The Roswell platform is the first to deliver the power of molecular electronic sensing, to support a full spectrum of DNA sequencing and biosensing applications. This includes the spectrum of tests necessary for the detection and containment of infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, including sequencing, nucleic acid detection, antigen detection and antibody detection. The platform was also designed with the scalability to provide the solution for rapid, low-cost whole genome sequencing in precision medicine, for treating cancer and other diseases, as well as for reading massive amounts of digital data stored in DNA, which is envisioned as the future of archiving data at the global scale.

Molecular electronic sensor chips integrate single molecules as electrical sensor elements on standard semiconductor chips, making electronic biosensor devices massively scalable. While electronic biosensors have seen gradual adoption in DNA sequencing and other areas of testing, there have been no major innovations in the basic sensor technology. The Roswell molecular electronics sensors represent an entirely new class of sensors, specifically designed to be maximally compatible with modern CMOS chip technology, delivering a technological breakthrough that significantly increases performance and lowers costs. This advance allows low-cost, high speed biomedical tests, including DNA sequencing and other forms of biomarkers sensing essential to modern medical diagnostics, to be deployed on simple portable or handheld devices.

Sign Of Caution? Corporate Insiders Absent In Pre-Election Dip-Buying

In August, corporate insiders unloaded their own stock as S&P500 screamed to an all-time high price, with a forward P/E multiple surpassing the dot com peak of 27x. Corporate execs, at the time, were dumping their stock into unsuspecting Robinhood traders. Months later, "Wall Street suits" as Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy has coined, have yet to purchase these shares back, in a meaningful way, that would ultimately suggest the market is overpriced.

Corporate insiders, the same ones who bought the dip during the corona-crash in March, have yet to hit the big green buy button in October. As to why, well, it could be due to valuation concerns or election uncertainty.

According to Bloomberg, citing data compiled by the Washington Service, shows only 380 corporate insiders bought shares of their own companies last month, the second-lowest rate in more than two years. While sellers also backed off, they did so at a more moderate pace than buyers. Resulting in the insider buy vs. sell ratio to slump to levels not seen since early 1Q20.

The lack of corporate insider buying comes as "large speculators" under the Commodity Futures and Exchange Commission have boosted their net positions in S&P 500 e-mini future to levels not seen since 2019.

Malcolm Polley, president and chief investment officer at Stewart Capital Advisors LLC., said what's troubling is that corporate execs who know their companies better than anyone else aren't buying - this is a worrisome sign about future expectations.

"What they're telling you is, our stock is not cheap and may be expensive so it doesn't make sense for us to buy the dip," Polley told Bloomberg. "While earnings have certainly improved versus Q2, the rate of improvement going into Q4 and Q1 of next year will probably slow pretty dramatically."

Bloomberg said corporate execs bought $74.3 million worth of shares in October, down 43% over the previous month. Selling by execs dropped 29% to $1.67 billion.

As equity bulls continue to pile into stocks, anticipating new rounds of fiscal and monetary support, along with a "V-shaped" economic recovery, Citigroup's Panic/Euphoria Model still shows market sentiment is in "euphoria" territory.

Farm Life Boosts Gut Microbiome Maturation in Children

We are born into an environment full of small organisms called microbiota. Within the first minutes and hours of our lives, they start challenging but also educating our immune system. The largest immune organ is our gut, where maturation of the immune system and maturation of the colonizing bacteria, the gut microbiome, go hand in hand. After profound perturbations in the first year of life, the maturation process, the composition of the gut microbiome gradually stabilizes and accompanies us for our lives. Previous research of the Munich scientists showed an asthma-protective effect by a diverse environmental microbiome, which was particularly pronounced in farm children. The question now was whether this effect could be attributed to the maturation process of the early gut microbiome.

Farm life boosts gut microbiome maturation in children The researchers analyzed fecal samples from more than 700 infants partly growing up on traditional farms between the age of 2 and 12 months who took part in PASTURE – a European birth cohort, which runs for almost 20 years now with funding from the European Commission.

“We found that a comparatively large part of the protective farm effect on childhood asthma was mediated by the maturation of the gut microbiome in the first year of life” states Dr. Martin Depner, biostatistician at Helmholtz Zentrum München, and further concludes: “This suggests that farm children are in contact with environmental factors possibly environmental microbiota that interact with the gut microbiome and lead to this protective effect.”

The researchers anticipated effects of nutrition on the gut microbiome maturation but were surprised to find strong effects of farm-related exposures such as stays in animal sheds. This emphasizes the importance of the environment for the protective effect. In addition, vaginal delivery and breastfeeding fostered a protective microbiome in the first two months of life.

Furthermore, the researchers discovered an inverse association of asthma with measured level of fecal butyrate. Butyrate is a short chain fatty acid which is known to have an asthma protective effect in mice. The researchers concluded that gut bacteria such as Roseburia and Coprococcus with the potential of producing short chain fatty acids may contribute to asthma protection in humans as well. Children with a matured gut microbiome showed a higher amount of these bacteria (Roseburia and Coprococcus) compared to other children.

Pelosi: House Ready to Play 'Prominent Role' if Election Demands It

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says that the House of Representatives is prepared to play a “prominent role” if no winner can be determined by the Electoral College.

In fact, an Electoral College tie is not impossible but would be the only scenario where the House would have any role to play at all. Any dispute involving ballots rightly belongs in the courts. Also, certification of the winner of a state is a state matter, as the Supreme Court decided in 2000.

I’m not sure what Pelosi and the Democrats have up their sleeves but it isn’t any good, I’m sure.

There have been reports prior to the interview that Pelosi has been contemplating what Politico referred to as a “once-in-a-century phenomenon.”

In the event of a tie in the Electoral College — which is unlikely but possible — the “newly seated House of Representatives” would hold a complicated vote, The New York Times reported.

The Politico report said the House vote could be “brutal,” and could come down to which party controls the most state delegations. (Republicans have 26 and Democrats 22.) The number could change after Tuesday’s results are known, the Times reported.

The vote would be complicated because each state’s House delegation will have only one vote. It will probably end up being one more thing the left will want to get rid of once they toss the Constitution into the dustbin.

Fortunately, the odds are extremely long that there will be an Electoral College tie. But suppose Pennsylvania counts and counts and counts the ballots and ends up finding Biden is the winner. And suppose Trump wins in court challenging how the votes were counted. Further, let’s say the election is so close that Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes decide it. Democrats recognize the vote count, Republicans recognize the court decision. In that longshot scenario, the House, which certifies the results of the Electoral College, might find itself embroiled in a fight to determine which result from Pennsylvania will be accepted.

“But let’s not worry about that right now,” Pelosi told NPR. “What we want to be ready for is a big vote tomorrow to dispel any thought other than that, on January 20, Joe Biden will be inaugurated president of the United States, that we will have a Democratic House and a Democratic Senate.”

Both Republicans and Democrats have suggested that the other side would contest most election outcomes and there have been reports that both parties are building formidable war chests to spend on possible lawsuits.

Pennsylvania Voter Sounds the Alarm Over Delayed Poll Opening, Voting Machine Issues

Election Day has finally arrived and with it comes complaints from one of the key swing states, Pennsylvania, of long lines and long wait times.

It is one of the most contentious presidential elections in modern history and long lines were expected, but some voters in the Keystone State got more than they bargained for.

I spoke with Pennsylvania voter Michael Holincheck, of Hazleton, who said it took him around two hours to cast his vote.

White House Coronavirus Predictions Differ: 'Rounding The Corner' Or 'Most Deadly Phase'?

President Trump is once again at odds with COVID-19 taskforce officials after stating that the coronavirus will disappear and the pandemic will soon be over.

In an internal memo obtained by The Washington Post, Deborah Birx, coordinator of the White House coronavirus task force, emphasized the urgency of the virus and said the U.S. is entering the “most deadly phase of this pandemic,” which could lead to increased mortality. In contradiction, Trump has said the U.S. “rounding the corner” on the pandemic.

“This is not about lockdowns — It hasn’t been about lockdowns since March or April,” she continued in the memo. “It’s about an aggressive balanced approach that is not being implemented.”

Birx has become increasingly frustrated for being “ignored” by White House officials as she continues to warn about the dangers of a second and third wave of the coronavirus that could come this fall and winter, a top administrative official told the Post.

The U.S. has nearly 9.3 million positive cases of the coronavirus, with over 231,000 COVID-19 deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Cases are also surging in several regions of the country in what some consider a second wave of the virus, as Birx has predicted.

Birx’s memo also recommended “much more aggressive action from messaging, to testing, to surging personnel around the country before the crisis point,” the Post said. The memo called out Trump for his campaign rallies that featured many supporters who did not socially distance or wear face masks.

Birx is not the only member of the coronavirus taskforce that Trump has been at odds with. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is also a leading member of the task force that Trump has seemed to disregard.

Former Melania Trump hairstylist blows apart leftist narrative on the state of first couple's marriage

Finally, some good news

A former hairstylist to Melania Trump says that the first lady is "funny, warm, and intelligent," according to the Daily Mail.

British hairstylist Lino Carbosiero, who began styling Melania in 2019, said that she and President Donald Trump are "loving and giggly" when they're together.

The outlet reports that Carbosiero and his team of stylists and assistants love working with the president and first lady and say that the two have a certain chemistry together and a loving relationship to boot.

Appearing on British TV show "Lorraine," Carbosiero said that Melania is a "warm" person who is "really intelligent, and has a great sense of humor."

"I see a completely different side to what people try and say about her," Carbosiero explained. "She is so warm and considerate. … She constantly asks assistants if they're OK, if they need a drink. She will hug you, her team love her. They love him too, actually."

Carbosiero added that the couple has a certain "cheekiness" when they're together.

"They are very loving as well," he explained. "I've seen that, my assistant has as well. … They really have this little bond, they giggle and laugh and it's really sweet, actually."

Carbosiero said that the first couple typically acts more reserved in public because they are so heavily judged and always in the spotlight.

"I see how they are always so guarded because everyone is always so judgmental in their life," he said. "They are judged so much it almost makes them a little bit reserved."

'A very strange marriage'

Carbosiero's announcement comes just a week after former White House aide and "Apprentice" star Omarosa Manigault Newman claimed that the president and his wife have a "very strange marriage."

"I'm very cautious to comment on the dynamics of a marriage because you never know what goes on behind closed doors," she admitted. "But I have known this couple since they were dating, they got married a year after 'The Apprentice' aired. What I have observed in the last 17 years would make your head spin. Sometimes they like each other, but sometimes she is repulsed by him."

Threats, violence, trolling, and frivolous lawsuits used to silence journalists investigating financial crimes, survey finds

Reporters who uncover corruption often face intimidation that’s invisible to the public, the Foreign Policy Centre found in its new report, “Unsafe for Scrutiny.”

Lawyers are using frivolous legal threats as a key tool to intimidate journalists investigating financial misconduct, according to a new report released by a British think tank today.

The “Unsafe for Scrutiny” report, released by the London-based Foreign Policy Centre, underscores the manifold threats facing journalists internationally who investigate financial misconduct. With responses from 63 journalists working in 43 countries, the survey found that the vast majority of respondents faced threats or harassment during the course of investigating corruption — with many reporters suffering significant impact on their ability to do their jobs.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists shared the FPC’s survey with its members, and journalists from ICIJ’s network, which spans more than 260 reporters in more than 100 countries, feature heavily in the report.

“Large-scale transnational investigations, like those conducted by ICIJ, have provided explosive insights into how political and business elites, as well as organised crime groups, all over the world get away with financial crime and corruption,” Susan Coughtrie, project director at the Foreign Policy Centre, told ICIJ in an email. “They do so in the face of considerable risk and threats, which has a chilling effect on their ability to continue to bring these crucial matters of public interest to light.”

The report found that legal threats are chief among the types of harassment facing journalists conducting financial investigations, and often seek to exploit a skewed balance of power between often-underfunded reporting enterprises and the legal might of attorneys hired by the world’s wealthiest people and corporations. Focusing on frivolous cases known as “strategic lawsuits against public participation,” or SLAPPs, the report asserts that such actions “can create a similar chilling effect on media freedom to more overt violence or attack.”

Australia, Canada and some U.S. states, the report notes, have enacted legislation to help deter such actions by imposing penalties on unsuccessful SLAPP litigants or encouraging the quick dismissal of such suits. The survey ranked the U.S. significantly lower than the U.K. and European Union member states as an origin country for legal threats. Other than respondents’ home countries, the U.K. was, by far, the most frequent country of origin for legal threats, FPC found.

UK Aircraft Support Company to Pay $3M to Settle Bribery Charges

Airline Services Limited, ASL, has agreed to pay a nearly £2.3 million (US$2.96 million) fine for having failed to prevent bribery in a deal that secured the company three contracts with Lufthansa, the U.K. Serious Fraud Office, SFO, said on Friday.

ASL used an agent to win two contracts for seat modifications and one for brand panels for Lufthansa’s commercial airliners. The three contracts were together worth over £7.3 million ($9.41 million), according to the SFO.

“The agent acting for ASL was also working as a project manager for Lufthansa, as a consultant and then employee, abusing this position to provide an illicit competitive advantage to ASL,” said the statement.

The agent was part of Lufthansa’s team responsible for evaluating tenders and was “privy to commercially sensitive information about potential competitors to ASL and exploited this information to influence and advantage ASL’s own tender bids,” SFO said.

“ASL failed in its duties to implement adequate procedures to prevent bribery, allowing one of its agents to pervert what should have been a fair tender process and corruptly win business for the company,” Director of the Serious Fraud Office, Lisa Osofsky, said.

SFO also said that the company is no longer trading, but will remain open as a non-trading entity to fulfil the terms of the settlement which includes the disgorgement of nearly $1.3 million in profits, a penalty of more than $1.9 million and an additional contribution to the SFO’s costs of £750,000 ($967,494).

Luxury London Residence of Azerbaijan Official’s Son Purchased With Mysterious Payment to Shell Company

In what must have been one of the most aggressive reactions to being featured in the Panama Papers, Turkish multi-millionaire Mehmet Cengiz dialed up a Turkish newsroom to threaten the journalists who worked there.

“You put my face on the front page — have you no shame?,” Cengiz demanded of staff at the Istanbul daily paper Cumhuriyet, which had just splashed his face on its front page under the headline “Panamanian Turks.”

“I will fight you… Sons of bitches, don’t turn me into a killer.”

The Panama Papers were a trove of documents leaked from a Panamanian law firm that handled the paperwork for thousands of offshore companies. The files had been released by Süddeutsche Zeitung, shared with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), and reported by outlets around the world, including OCCRP and Cumhuriyet.

Cumhuriyet’s findings, published in June 2016, revealed a string of secret offshore companies established by the construction magnate. He also controlled a company in the United Kingdom that, in 2008, paid a consultancy fee of $3.07 million to an offshore firm called Vremax Properties Limited.

The arrangement was puzzling, since the payment was based on a vague consultancy contract with a newly-formed, anonymous firm that had no public record of engaging in consulting work.

Now, new records obtained by OCCRP can reveal what happened behind the scenes.

Several months after the payment, Vremax purchased a $2.3-million luxury apartment in the heart of London. The apartment was already occupied by a young businessman from Azerbaijan, Juma Ahmadzada. Vremax immediately gave him permission to keep living there. What’s more, two years after the initial purchase, the secretive offshore company bought two other apartments next door and allowed Ahmadzada to remodel them, creating a truly palatial residence for him.

He is the head of Azerbaijan’s state water resources management company, the Amelioration and Water Resources Open Joint Stock Company, which signed a contract with Cengiz’s construction conglomerate to build a massive hydroelectric dam in the country’s northwest.

Taken together, the sequence of events has the appearance of serious impropriety. Within a span of months:

An Azerbaijani state water company awarded a huge contract to Cengiz’s construction firm;

Another company controlled by Cengiz made a large payment to an offshore company;

That offshore bought a luxurious London apartment and “gave permission” for the son of the water company’s head to live in it.

Suspicious robocall campaign warning people to ‘stay home’ spooks voters nationwide

A wave of suspicious robocalls and texts bombarded voters as they began to cast their ballots on Tuesday, sparking fresh concerns about the extent to which malicious actors might harness Americans’ smartphones to scare people from the polls.

Across the country, voters have received an estimated 10 million automated, spam calls in recent days telling them to “stay safe and stay home,” according to experts who track the telecom industry. In Michigan, meanwhile, government officials on Tuesday sounded early alarms about additional attempts to deceive the state’s voters, including one robocall campaign targeting the city of Flint that told people to vote tomorrow if they hoped to avoid long lines today.

The origins of the each of the calls and texts remain unclear, reflecting the sophisticated tactics that robocallers typically deploy in order to reach Americans en masse across a wide array of devices and services. State election officials have scrambled to reassure voters in response, with Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer pledging Tuesday to “work quickly to stamp out misinformation” — and federal officials indicating they are investigating the matter.

The reach and timing of the “stay home” calls caught the attention of YouMail, a tech company that offers a robocall-blocking app for smartphones, as well as some of the country’s top telecom carriers, which determined from an investigation that the calls may be foreign in origin. Data prepared for The Washington Post by YouMail shows that the calls have reached 280 of the country’s 317 area codes since the campaign began in the summer

While the robocall did not explicitly mention the 2020 presidential election or issues that might affect voters’ well-being, including the coronavirus pandemic, it still created the potential for widespread panic or confusion. And it illustrated lingering, worrisome vulnerabilities in the country’s phone system, said Alex Quilici, YouMail’s chief executive.

“If you wanted to cause havoc in America for the elections, one way to do it is clearly robocalling,” he said. “This whole thing is exposing [that] it can be very difficult to react quickly to a large calling volume campaign.”

WHO ‘Quietly Negotiated’ Deal That ‘Sidelined Its Own Experts’ From Investigating Coronavirus Origin In China: Report

The World Health Organization (WHO) reportedly hid concessions that it made to communist China about how it would conduct investigations into the origin of the coronavirus and, in doing so, may have ruined the best opportunity that researchers had into discovering where it came from.

The New York Times reported that a team from the WHO arrived in Beijing in mid-February to begin investigating the origin of the coronavirus. Pinpointing where viruses originated and how they jumped from animals to humans can be critical at preventing future outbreaks.

“What the team members did not know was that they would not be allowed to investigate the source at all. Despite [Michael Ryan, the World Health Organization’s emergency director]’s pronouncements, and over the advice of its emergency committee, the organization’s leadership had quietly negotiated terms that sidelined its own experts,” The New York Times reported. “They would not question China’s initial response or even visit the live-animal market in the city of Wuhan where the outbreak seemed to have originated.”

The Times noted that communist China has “impeded” investigations into the origin of the pandemic and that the WHO has “pushed misleading and contradictory information about the risk of spread from symptomless carriers.”

The Times added that the WHO “has refused to disclose details of its negotiations with Beijing and hasn’t shared documents with member states outlining the terms of its investigations.”

A separate report in September from the Times revealed that the WHO made its decision to advise nations to not restrict travel based on political decisions and not science.

The Times reported:

Public health records, scores of scientific studies and interviews with more than two dozen experts show the policy of unobstructed travel was never based on hard science. It was a political decision, recast as health advice, which emerged after a plague outbreak in India in the 1990s. By the time Covid-19 surfaced, it had become an article of faith.

“It’s part of the religion of global health: Travel and trade restrictions are bad,” said Lawrence O. Gostin, a professor of global health law at Georgetown University who helped write the global rules known as the International Health Regulations. “I’m one of the congregants.”

Covid-19 has shattered that faith. Before the pandemic, a few studies had demonstrated that travel restrictions delayed, but did not stop, the spread of SARS, pandemic flu and Ebola. Most, however, were based on mathematical models. No one had collected real-world data. The effect of travel restrictions on the spread of the latest coronavirus is still not understood.

The WHO’s response to the pandemic and their failure to hold communist China accountable for its lying and cover-up led to President Donald Trump withdrawing from the organization earlier this year.

Trump has repeatedly battered the WHO on social media.

“The W.H.O. really blew it. For some reason, funded largely by the United States, yet very China centric,” Trump wrote. “We will be giving that a good look. Fortunately I rejected their advice on keeping our borders open to China early on. Why did they give us such a faulty recommendation?”

If Trump gets reelected, Facebook and Twitter are going to change forever. If Biden gets it, they will rampage and censorship will get worse.

Twitter and Facebook cracked down on President Trump‘s account yet again Monday, this time over a post slamming a recent Supreme Court ruling on Pennsylvania’s extension for ballot counting.

All eyes have been on Pennsylvania in recent weeks as polls between Trump and Joe Biden have tightened in the Keystone State. However, the Supreme Court ruled last week that Pennsylvania officials will be able to count ballots received up to three days after the election.

On Monday evening, Trump sounded the alarm on the “dangerous” precedent that was set.
