North Carolina election officials on Tuesday extended the voting deadline by two hours in four precincts, after technical problems and human error delayed the opening of the polling stations.

The decision was made by the State Board of Elections to extend the deadlines in two precincts in Sampson County and one each in Guilford and Cabararrus counties, according to WARL.com in Raleigh.

The two Sampson County precincts had printer difficulties, preventing them from providing voters with verification forms. The Cabarrus County precinct also had computer problems.

The delay in Guilford County was the result of a chief judge at a polling site apparently arriving late and taking an extended amount of time getting the site ready, which delaying opening by about 30 minutes.

The board vote was 3-2, with the its two Republican members arguing that few, if any, voters were inconvenienced by the delays, so long extensions were unnecessary, WARL also reported.
