White House fights back: Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, other States are still at play

Arizona is one of the states at the heart of Tuesday’s 2020 presidential election and the early call to give the state to former Vice President Joe Biden by Fox News Tuesday night infuriated President Donald Trump and the White House.

The decision was also criticized by many voters, some who suggested that decision to do so was biased and harmed the voters of the state. As of Wednesday morning there were still some hundreds of thousands of ballots to be counted in Arizona, according to an Arizona Republic survey. However, some suspect that number to be much higher because the Republic could only get figures from nine of Arizona’s 15 counties. Moreover, “provisional ballots are given to voters who can’t verify their ID at the polls or who received a mail-in ballot but decided to vote in person. Election officials must verify a voter’s registration before the provisional ballot is counted,” according to Arizona Central.

Arizona isn’t the only concern. Trump’s lawyers are going to force a recount in Wisconsin, which they believe has some serious discrepancies in the voter tally and was called for former Vice President Joe Biden with only a one-percent difference in the vote.

“We need to wait until all the votes are counted. It’s all going in the right direction. I believe when it’s all said and done we’re going to win this thing.”

Rep Andy Biggs, Arizona

White House officials made sure to address the concerns of calling the state early on Wednesday, noting that by their calculations they expect to win the Western state with possibly more than 30,000 votes once the final tally is in.

The state carries 11 electoral votes and if Trump takes Pennsylvania, with 20 electoral votes, then that calculation – along with the other states Trump has already won -will set him over the finish line.

Republican Rep. Andy Biggs, of Arizona, told me Wednesday in a phone call that the votes are far from being counted in his home state and pointed to the more than 100,000 votes that still need to be counted in Trump-friendly Maricopa County alone, where officials say they can’t yet estimate the number of early ballots dropped at polling places. Those ballots still need be counted and “could increase the number of ballots left to count by another 100,000 to 200,000 on top of the Republic’s 400,000 estimate.” As of 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Trump was only behind Biden by roughly 93,000 but there were still almost 70,000 votes that hadn’t been counted.

The Republican Chairman of the Freedom Caucus also referenced his own primary election several years ago when the polls had him behind his challenger and in fact, several said he had lost. He didn’t, of course, and came back to win the primary in the final stretch after the votes were tallied. Biggs said when the announcement came early that he was going to lose, a number of people, including his opponent, called on him to concede the race.

Bitcoin Tops $14k As Billion-Dollar 'Silk Road' Wallet Moves For First Time Since 2015

After a tempestuous 24 hours, Bitcoin prices are back above $14,000 this afternoon, officially trading for 100 straight days above $10,000…

This move comes as CoinTelegraph's Turner Wright notes that CipherTrace speculated that the anonymous user made the transactions “to stay up to date with the Bitcoin network,” but it may have been hacked.

An anonymous crypto user has just moved 69,370 Bitcoin from an address associated with the Silk Road darknet market that more recently has become a popular hacking target.

According to a Nov. 3 report from crypto intelligence firm CipherTrace, the recent movement involving two transactions adding up to 69,370 Bitcoin (BTC) — or more than $960 million at the time of publication — originated from an address connected with the Silk Road marketplace shut down in 2013. The crypto user first sent 1 BTC — likely as a test transaction — before moving the bulk of the coins.

CipherTrace speculated the anonymous user made the transactions “to stay up to date with the Bitcoin network” by switching between address formats. As the last time anyone moved funds associated with the defunct darknet market was in April 2015, the BTC wallet would reportedly also have access to all Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Bitcoin SV (BSV) associated with the tokens’ hard forks.

However, the firm didn’t rule out hacking as a possibility:

“These movements could possibly mean that the wallet owner is moving funds to new addresses to prevent hackers from accessing the wallet.dat file or that hackers have already cracked the file.”

The Silk Road funds were contained in a wallet that has been circulating among hackers for more than two years. In September, a Twitter user claiming to have the wallet.dat file for the wallet put out a call to the crypto community for solutions on how to gain access to the 69,370 coins, even suggesting a quantum computer as a potential way to determine the private keys.

Silk Road was a darknet market that let users buy and sell illicit goods such as weapons and stolen credit card information, but the majority of listings were for illegal drugs. Ross Ulbricht, the site’s founder, is currently serving two life sentences without the possibility of parole after being found guilty of money laundering, computer hacking and conspiracy to traffic narcotics. He still provides periodic analyses on the Bitcoin market from prison.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf: ‘3 Million—Millions of Mail-In Ballots’ Yet to Be Counted

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D) said Wednesday morning that there are still “millions” of mail-in ballots yet to be counted in the battleground state, appearing to correct himself after giving a specific figure of “three million.”

Urging Americans to be patient, he said the delay in results is a “sign that the system is working.”

“And there are 3 million — millions of mail-in ballots that are being counted, and that takes longer than the way we used to do it with the stand-in, in-person voting,” Wolf said at a Wednesday morning brief.

“So we may not know the results either today, but the most important thing is we have accurate results. Again, even if that takes a little longer than we’re used to,” he continued.

The governor offered a lower estimate of outstanding ballots hours earlier — “over one million” — as the state paused its reporting altogether overnight.

“We still have over 1 million mail ballots to count in Pennsylvania,” he said shortly before 3 a.m. Eastern. “I promised Pennsylvanians that we would count every vote and that’s what we’re going to do”:

Let’s be clear: This is a partisan attack on Pennsylvania’s elections, our votes, and democracy.

Our counties are working tirelessly to process votes as quickly AND as accurately as possible.

Pennsylvania will have a fair election and we will count every vote.

— Governor Tom Wolf (@GovernorTomWolf) November 4, 2020

During the Wednesday presser, Wolf said that our “democracy is being tested in this election,” adding that it is a “stress test” of the ideals the country was founded on:

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf: "Our democracy is being tested in this election. This is a stress test of the ideals upon which this country was founded. And the basic rule of one person, one vote — that still carries, and it has to carry here." https://t.co/fxHKy8hSEp pic.twitter.com/DY0zNl1i3a

— CBS News (@CBSNews) November 4, 2020

The Democrat governor added that he will do everything within his power to make sure the results are “fair” and “every vote is counted.”

“Pennsylvania will have a fair election, and that election will be free of outside influences,” Wolf said, vowing to “vigorously” stand against attempts to “attack” the vote in Pennsylvania.

Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar (D) repeated the governor’s sentiments, stating that there are “millions of ballots left to be counted.”

The state was approaching 50 percent of the mail-in vote counted as of Wednesday morning, according to Boockvar.

In addition to whatever ballots came in on Election Day, Pennsylvania poll workers will be able to count mail-in ballots that arrive in the next three days — even if there is not a clear postmark and even if the signature on the ballot does not match voter rolls.

The New York Times election tracker showed Trump up by nearly 10 points with 78 percent of the vote reported, shortly after 11 a.m. Eastern.

The Trump campaign, meanwhile, is remaining confident in the president’s prospects.

“If we count all legally cast ballots, we believe the president will win,” Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien said in a phone call with reporters on Wednesday morning. That path to victory includes Pennsylvania, where they estimate Trump winning by roughly 40,000 votes.

Former eBay executives indicted on charges of stalking, trying to place GPS unit on couple’s car

BOSTON – Two former eBay, Inc. executives were indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury in Boston in connection with their roles in a cyberstalking campaign targeting the editor and publisher of a newsletter that eBay executives viewed as critical of the company.

James Baugh, 45, of San Jose, Calif., eBay’s former Senior Director of Safety & Security, and David Harville, 48, of New York City, eBay’s former Director of Global Resiliency, were indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit stalking through interstate travel and through facilities of interstate commerce, two counts each of stalking through interstate travel, two counts of stalking through facilities of interstate commerce, two counts (Baugh) and one count (Harville) of witness tampering, and two counts (Baugh) and one count (Harville) of destruction, alteration, and falsification of records in a federal investigation. Baugh and Harville were previously charged by criminal complaint and arrested on June 15, 2020.

Co-conspirators and former eBay employees Philip Cooke, 55, Brian Gilbert, 52, Stephanie Popp, 32, Veronica Zea, 26, and Stephanie Stockwell, 26, previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit cyberstalking and conspiracy to tamper with witnesses.

According to the charging document, the victims of the cyberstalking campaign were a Natick couple who are the editor and publisher of an online newsletter that covers ecommerce companies, including eBay. Members of eBay’s executive leadership team followed the newsletter’s posts, often taking issue with its content and the anonymous comments underneath the editor’s stories.

Oregon decriminalizes possession of street drugs, becoming first in nation

Oregon made history Tuesday in the movement to reconsider the nation’s war on drugs by becoming the first state to decriminalize small amounts of heroin and other street drugs.

Voters overwhelmingly supported Measure 110, a coup for the New York-based Drug Policy Alliance, the same criminal justice reform group that backed Oregon’s successful marijuana legalization effort in 2014.

Partial returns as of 11 p.m. Tuesday showed the measure winning 59% to 41%.

Supporters believe U.S. drug policy has filled the country’s jails with nonviolent offenders who need treatment instead of incarceration and has disproportionately affected generations of Black people.

The Drug Policy Alliance poured more than $4 million into the decriminalization campaign, far outspending the $95,000 raised by opponents. The organization receives support from billionaire philanthropist and investor George Soros, who is on the alliance board.

Other major funders of the effort included Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who along with his wife Priscilla Chan gave $500,000, and the American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon, which gave $150,000, and national ACLU, which gave another $150,000, per state campaign finance reports.

Yes, Democrats Are Trying To Steal The Election In Michigan, Wisconsin, And Pennsylvania

In the three Midwest battleground states, vote counting irregularities persist in an election that will be decided on razor-thin margins.

As of this writing, it appears that Democratic Party machines in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania are trying to steal the election.

As reporters and commentators went to bed early Tuesday morning, all three states were too close to call, but President Trump led former Vice President Joe Biden by comfortable margins—far beyond what had been predicted in the polls. None of the networks called these states because enough mail-in ballots remained uncounted that it could swing either way, but Trump’s position looked good.

Then, something strange happened in the dead of the night. In both Michigan and Wisconsin, vote dumps early Wednesday morning showed 100 percent of the votes going for Biden and zero percent—that’s zero, so not even one vote—for Trump.

In Michigan, Biden somehow got 138,339 votes and Trump got none, zero, in an overnight vote-dump.

When my Federalist colleague Sean Davis noted this, Twitter was quick to censor his tweet, even though all he had done was compare two sets of vote totals on the New York Times website. And he wasn’t the only one who noticed—although on Wednesday it appeared that anyone who noted the Biden vote dump in Michigan was getting censored by Twitter.

Others were quick to note the partisan censorship from Twitter and raise concerns over how 100 percent of a vote dump could possibly go to Biden. But the social media giant has maintained its crackdown on sharing this information. Twitter users could not like or share a tweet from the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh noting the 138,339-vote dump.

Buzzfeed later reported that according to a spokesperson at Decision Desk HQ, the votes for Biden were the result of a “data error” from a “file created by the state that we ingested.” When the state noticed the “error” it updated its count, which somehow gave 138,339 votes to Biden and zero to Trump.

It turns out, the vote dump was the result of an alleged typo, an extra zero that had been tacked onto Biden’s vote total in Shiawassee County, Michigan. It seems the error was discovered only because Davis and other Twitter users noted how insane and suspicious the vote totals looked, and demanded an investigation that uncovered what was either a typo or an incredibly clumsy attempt to boost Biden’s vote count.

There was also something suspicious about the vote reporting in Antrim County, Michigan, where Trump beat Hillary Clinton by 30 points in 2016. Initial vote totals there showed Biden ahead of Trump by 29 points, a result that can’t possibly be accurate, as plenty of journalists noted.
