Baldwin: Biden Can Act on ‘Several Issues’ Through Executive Action

During an interview on MSNBC on Wednesday, Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) stated that if 2020 Democratic presidential nominee former Vice President Joe Biden is elected president, but Republicans hold the Senate, she would “note how much that Joe Biden is going to be able to do using his executive powers.”

Baldwin said, “I think one of the topics that we could certainly find some common ground on, and have, certainly, historically, in Congress and with the president, is working on infrastructure. I know that even that issue has become more controversial in recent years, but we know we have a huge infrastructure deficit in the United States. I can certainly attest to that in the state of Wisconsin, and that provides an opportunity for bipartisan work within both houses of Congress and the president.”

She continued, “And I would also note how much that Joe Biden is going to be able to do using his executive powers. We’ve, of course, seen Trump do an extraordinary amount using executive powers. But I think that there are several issues where he is going to be able to take action to fight the pandemic, to help our economy, and help people who are struggling in our economy right now.”

Baldwin concluded, “And then the other really key difference with a President Biden is that he’s all about unity, and all about bringing us together to respond to our challenges. When we face so many crises in the United States, I know that he’s going to work really hard to find common pathways forward in every instance he can.”

Demands Arise for PA Attorney General to ‘Step Aside’: He’s Trying to ‘Steal Pennsylvania from Trump’

Calls for Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro (D) to “step aside” are rising after he urged voters to seek election help from Democrats, mere days after stating that “if all the votes are added up in PA, Trump is going to lose.”

Shapiro drew strong reactions across social media after encouraging voters to seek election help from Democrats on Election Day.

Days earlier, Shapiro predicted that Trump would lose the Keystone State, contingent on if “all the votes are added up.”

His partisan position continues to draw heavy criticism, particularly given that the presidential race could come down to the Keystone State, which is continuing to count outstanding ballots.

Pennsylvania GOP Attorney General candidate Heather Heidelbaugh called on Shapiro to “step aside” from the process entirely.

“Shapiro cannot be seen as having his thumb on the scale, acting in the dual roles of legal arbiter of the vote and a candidate deeply invested in its outcome,” she said in a statement, calling on the attorney general to “appoint a trusted and impartial deputy to oversee any legal questions and disputes in which that office might play a role concerning this election.”

“The outcome of these elections in Pennsylvania must not be muddled with this glaring conflict of interest,” she added:

Trump Campaign Demands Fox, AP Retract Calling Arizona for Biden

On Wednesday afternoon, Trump campaign representatives told reporters that they are still confident the president will win the election despite sporadic race calls for Joe Biden in Arizona and Wisconsin. The campaign has formally requested a recount in Wisconsin and predicted that a trove of Election Day results will put Trump over in Arizona. Trump campaign Senior Advisor Jason Miller demanded that Fox News and the Associated Press rescind race calls for Arizona.

“We call on both Fox News and the Associated Press to immediately withdraw their calling the state for Joe Biden. This was erroneous, it was a mistake,” Miller declared.

He noted that Biden is only ahead of Trump by 93,509 votes in the Grand Canyon State, while there are approximately 605,000 outstanding ballots that have yet to come in, most of them being Election Day votes. The president only needs to win 57.73 percent of the remaining ballots in order to erase Biden’s lead.

“This is far less than what the president has been receiving,” Miller noted. He referenced a recent ballot dump from Maricopa County in which Trump won 62 percent of those ballots. He referenced rural areas of Arizona where Trump received more than 70 percent, sometimes as high as 80 percent, of the vote.

Bill Stepien, Trump’s campaign manager, announced that the campaign had filed for a recount in Wisconsin, citing “abnormalities on the ground.” He said the campaign rightly predicted “a close race, a razor-thin race” in the Badger State.

Stepien also predicted a Trump win in Pennsylvania. He noted that the president leads with about 454,000 votes over Biden as of Wednesday afternoon and predicted about 1.12 million votes still outstanding.

“For Joe Biden to get to a margin ahead of President Trump, he would need to win 78 percent of those remaining votes,” the campaign manager explained. While some counties that are expected to go heavily for Biden still have outstanding results — Philadelphia County and Montgomery County, in particular — Stepien also noted that there are more votes coming in from “Trump country.” He also noted that the president has overperformed compared to his win in 2016.

“We have a high degree of confidence … this is not based on gut or feel, this is based on math,” Stepien insisted. He also predicted that the margin will not be close. He said there is a 70 percent probability of a win margin larger than 100,000 votes, and a 50 percent probability of a win margin larger than 150,000 votes.

In order to predict such outcomes, the campaign has been “drilling down in a lot of detail,” the manager said. He noted that polls showed Trump down by 17 points in Wisconsin, but the campaign predicted a close race. “It turns out, we were right. We have confidence in our data that shows a pathway forward in Pennsylvania.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the Trump campaign filed a lawsuit in Michigan, claiming the campaign has been denied access to observe the opening of ballots and the counting process.

Miller said the campaign is “completely confident that the president will win Noth Carolina and Georgia.” He predicted that America will know that Trump won the election on Friday.

“We could be looking at potentially as soon as Friday, President Trump being declared the winner,” Miller said. “By the end of this week, it will be clear to the entire nation that President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence will have another four years in the White House.”

US forces participate in UNITAS exercise with Ecuadorian navy, other regional allies

The U.S. Navy has teamed up with regional allies to conduct the annual and multinational exercise UNITAS LXI in the Pacific Ocean.

The exercise — hosted by Ecuador’s Navy near Mantra, Ecuador — involves allies Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Peru, Uruguay and a total of 13 warships.

The exercise aims to develop the forces' ability to carry out joint operations such as littoral warfare, maritime interdiction operations, countering transnational organized crime, anti-surface warfare, electronic warfare, among other things, the Navy said.

“We embrace this opportunity to come together, united as one fighting force — a team ready to defend our strategic and shared interests,” commander of U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command and U.S. 4th Fleet Rear Adm. Don Gabrielson said during the exercise’s opening ceremony, according to a Navy news release.

The exercise involves the United States' littoral combat ship Gabrielle Giffords, expeditionary fast transport ship Burlington, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23 Detachment 9, Patrol Squadron 9, Patrol Squadron 26, U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Legare and U.S. Army vessel Chickahominy.

U.S. Air Force aircraft and staff members from Destroyer Squadron 40, along with personnel from U.S. Marine Corps Forces South and the U.S. 4th Fleet are also participating, the Navy said.

The exercise kicked off on Monday and will conclude on Nov. 11. The exercise has been held annually since 1960.

Chaotic scene at Detroit vote tally site as protesters chant ‘Stop the count!’

A chaotic scene erupted in Michigan on Wednesday as protesters converged on a vote-counting location after President Trump’s campaign filed suit to halt the process.

Video clips posted on Twitter show dozens of people chanting “Stop the count!” outside the TCF Center in Detroit.

An unconfirmed report said some protesters described being sent to the TCF Center by unidentified Republican “contacts.”

Conflicting, unconfirmed reports also said both that the tabulation had been suspended and that it was expected to be finished by 6 p.m.

In a statement earlier Wednesday, Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien said the president’s political operatives have “not been provided with meaningful access to numerous counting locations to observe the opening of ballots and the counting process, as guaranteed by Michigan law.”

“We have filed suit today in the Michigan Court of Claims to halt counting until meaningful access has been granted,” Stepien said.

“We also demand to review those ballots which were opened and counted while we did not have meaningful access.”

NY Man Admits To Sexual Exploitation Of 8-Year-Old Twin Sisters

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A Newburgh, New York, man pleaded guilty in federal court today to attempting to produce child pornography after soliciting sexually explicit photos and videos of two 8-year-old twin sisters in Missouri.

Charles Junious Adams, 38, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Willie J. Epps, Jr., to one count of attempting to produce child pornography.

The father of the child victims contacted the Boone County Sheriff’s Department on March 1, 2019, to report that Adams had been communicating with one of his daughters through applications on her iPod. Adams asked her on several occasions to send him nude images and video of herself as well as video of her sister getting out of the shower. She sent him the images and videos and engaged in live chats with Adams several times; each time, she was asked to get naked. Adams also sent sexually explicit videos to the child victim.

The child victim told investigators she initially thought she was talking to a girl, but then a boy started talking and told her he was the girl’s brother. The child victim had not seen the face of the person to whom she was talking.

Under federal statutes, Adams is subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison without parole, up to a sentence of 30 years in federal prison without parole.
