It’s a question for Catholic theologians. As an Orthodox Christian with a high view of the Theotokos, I find language referring to Mary in such terms most troubling because of the theological implications.
I’m never quite sure whether Roman Catholics say what they say in this regard out of an excess of devotion, or whether they do indeed hold profoundly heretical beliefs, confusing the created (no matter how exalted) and the creator.
