I agree with you on this.
When people fear the government that is tyranny when the government fears the people that is liberty.
We are allowed to keep and bear arms, I believe for the express purpose of being able to tell the "government" where to go when it becomes tyrannical (no longer legitimate).
I do NOT condone violence, but the appropriate threat of force is a great deterrent to bad activity and preserves the peace.
