I'm GA anon. The way it works here is that you vote on a touchscreen with a smart card tied to your name. When finished, you print the ballot at a local printer attached to the trouchscreen. Verify ballot. Take printed ballot to a machine that looks like a secure doc repository with a scanner built into the top. You run your ballot thru - pollworkers never touch - and the scanner validates/tallies your vote.

 

The tech is built into the scanner so it can validate as fast as it can scan.
