Not true as a matter of law. "Conspiracy" is an umbrella that covers prospective crimes. Conspiracy to commit fraud is a crime.
I think I agree though, true as a practical matter. There needs to be a maximum impression on the mind of the world, not just Americans, but the whole world, just how corrupt, secretive, underhanded the so-called "transparency system" is. The press is a knowing participant in this.
The manipulation of the public and the phoniness of governments is bigger than most people are willing to imagine, never mind accept. The fact that the US truly is a banana republic, that this is not hyperbolic rhetoric to gin up support for one party or another - that is going to be tough for the ones who do accept it, and will be rejected by most of the ruling class, including the press.
But power to the people, the ruling class is about to be dethroned.
