>Can tech stop blackmail as the true means to power?
Yes, in an odd way. The ability to generate digital images and video indistinguishable from the real thing takes the power out of recordings of the genuine event. The evidence would no longer hold up in court.
>inb4 but isn't there lots of footage?
We are within a decade of having AI's capable of procedurally generating hours of video in seconds. Cases depending on recorded footage for evidence won't hold up. That means the effective expiration date on A LOT of blackmail is in only 10 years at most.
Now consider the same people in a position to fund and push research into machine-generated images/video are in positions you don't get unless they have you blackmailed.
Anons should be asking what plans They have put together to replace the current system. It's important to consider not just where we are, but where we're going.
>Looking forward to the new future where evil people can't keep their secrets.
Be careful what you wish for anon…
