It is great in theory, but when put in practice the inevitable human foibles and tendency to politic have ruined it.
If you check into it you'll find (((them)) at the roots of scientific journal publishing. Along with newspaper publishing these sources of information have bee corrupted for the purpose of controlling the people & the education of the people.
In my chosen field I ran smack into it. Tesla's work cleared the way for many modern marvels. His work was discounted and discredited by his peers. (((they))) had to back peddle a bit for the invention of RADAR. The operation of microwaves in a waveguide follow Tesla's thoughts on the propagation of EM waves and NOT those of Hertz. The production of microwave energy with a BWO and the amplification of that energy with a TWT follow Tesla's thoughts and NOT those of his peers. In order to make RADAR happen it became necessary for certain thoughts that had been discounted a few decades before as being crackpot Tesla ideas, be taught and utilized since they were obviously and demonstrably valid.
But in the modern world we live in simply demonstrating that a device works is no longer sufficient. It must be provable via "peer reviewed theory" or it can't possibly work!
This has led to some interesting conundrums and many scams.
