There were a lot of volunteers knocking door and making calls for Trump.
Trump raised an army of challengers - not the republican party.
Trump organized the challengers, door knockers and phone callers - not the republican party.
It was totally chaotic. The republican party in my state was not used to doing anything meaningful. Totally disorganized. Couldn't explain to the downline who was organizing what, who was in charge of what, who was supposed to do what.
Locally, I had to ignore the idiocy from the old guard republicans who were clueless and run the operation locally like I organized my businesses.
The first wave representing Trump got booted, and eventually better people came in.
If it had not been for Trump, and Trump alone. I would not have spent so much time organizing my county. (I'm not even an officer or anything for local republicans.)
It was the same in 2016. It was Trump, and no one else.
The public loves him. But when it comes to stepping up to run for office, or volunteer……… many times there are just CRICKETS.
