If president, Joe Biden wants to create a task force to crack down on online “harassment”

Biden outlines another internet control proposal.

Democratic candidate Joe Biden’s campaign has published its gun control manifesto calling for more restrictive rules as part of Biden’s bid to win the US presidency, referring to gun violence as an epidemic and a health crisis.

Among a number of points brought up in the document, including Biden’s past policy initiatives in this area, several focus on online and digital aspects of weapons production and ownership, in an apparent attempt to reconcile the long-standing Democratic take on the issue, with the Second Amendment of the US Constitution that protect people’s right to keep and bear arms.

Availability of weapons is often accused of being linked with incidents resulting in mass shootings, and one promise that Biden makes in the document is to establish a new task force that would seek to connect the phenomenon of mass shootings with “online extremism” that manifests in “harassment and violence against women.”

This future task force that would be formed under Biden’s presidency would bring together US federal agencies and law enforcement, along with “state leaders, advocates, and technology experts.”

Such an assembly of professionals would then look into how what’s described as “rampant” online harassment, may or may not relate to mass shootings and violence against women. At times, the section reads like an attempt to throw in as many keywords as possible, and so revenge porn and deepfakes also make it to the list of possible, to be studied under Biden’s presidency, causes behind mass shootings.

The task force would be expected to produce recommendations and “cutting-edge strategies” given to institutions, social media, federal and state governments (presumably, if a link is found during the research period) on what to do about it.

The idea is to then put more pressure on tech companies behind social networks to step up content policing by means of increased “accountability: (ie. censorship) and transparency in reporting and responding to instances of harassment (that may or may not be linked to consequences like mass shootings).

The Biden campaign document makes a point of gun violence playing a prominent role in domestic violence (both referred to as “epidemics”) that are interconnected and must be treated as such.

Debate host Chris Wallace sparks more conservative fury by comparing Trump ally Ted Cruz to Japanese soldiers unaware of war's end

Fox's Chris Wallace has set off another row with Donald Trump supporters by likening Republicans who back the president's claims of election fraud to Japanese soldiers who thought World War II was going on long after it had ended.

Wallace suggested Sunday that Ted Cruz and other Republican senators who are echoing the Trump campaign’s allegations of fraud in the Nov. 3 election "are like the Japanese soldiers who come out 30 years after the end of the war, out of the jungle, and say, 'Is the fight still going on?'" He contrasted the staunch Trump loyalists to senators such as Mitt Romney and Pat Toomey who have called to "damp down the rhetoric" over Democrat Joe Biden's apparent victory.

The comments raised the ire of conservatives, who were already stung by Wallace's allegedly biased moderating of the Sept. 29 presidential debate. Some labeled his performance there a "disgrace." Cruz argued that "urging that we follow the law and that election recounts be actually completed is not somehow undermining democracy." Wallace took heat from both sides of the aisle for his handling of the first presidential debate. Democrats criticized him for failing to take control of the debate, while Republicans accused him of showing favoritism to Biden. Those critiques were revisited after NBC News correspondent Kristen Welker was praised for her strong handling of the Oct. 22 Trump-Biden debate, and her performance was contrasted with that of Wallace.

Proctoring software company abuses DMCA to shutdown student who exposed invasive software tracking

Another day, more proof that the US copyright law passed in 1998 known as the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is being used as a tool to censor speech, prevent criticism, undermine competition, and a variety of other “unintended” purposes.

This time it was a Miami University student who had critical thoughts about Proctorio, a company making proctoring software, and expressed those thoughts on Twitter.

The shortcomings of DMCA allow individuals and companies to abuse it by sending fake copyright takedown notices to which social media giants respond by quickly complying to protect themselves, meanwhile leaving users out to dry.

And so Proctorio decided to silence the student, Erik Johnson, by hitting his tweets with a DMCA copyright takedown, which Twitter obeyed, removing three posts.

What Johnson did is what digital rights activists call a classic example of fair use – rather than any kind of copyright violation. He downloaded and examined a Chrome browser extension that the company mandates students must install in order to take a test, and his tweets revealed what he found out in the code, which he also posted on Pastebin.

Some of the things Proctorio’s extension does is end the exam if a student is suspected of cheating for reasons like switching networks, “abnormal clicking,” and even eye movements.

The censorship came six weeks after Johnson took his findings, and a link to Pastebin, to Twitter in September, in a thread critical of the way Proctorio’s product works, say reports.

There's a ‘good chance’ that the US will return to the policy of foreign wars under Joe Biden, which will make its reconciliation with the EU impossible, Willy Wimmer, former vice-president of the OSCE, warned.

The main reasons why the Americans voted for Donald Trump four years ago were their tiredness of constant wars waged by their country and collapsing economy and infrastructure in the US, Wimmer told RT.

Trump has kept his promise and didn’t start any new foreign conflict, but that may well change if a member of the Democratic Party is in the White House, former Vice President of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly said.

Joe Biden isn’t an empty white sheet – he represents the Democratic Party, who in the 1990s destroyed the Charter of the UN.

The German political veteran recalled the US-led NATO bombing of Yugoslavia under Democratic President, Bill Clinton, in 1999. He also pointed out that “in the presidency of [Barack] Obama, Biden was Vice President and he was in absolute accordance with Obama’s drone wars and the wars in the Middle East, therefore there’s a good chance that Joe Biden continues in the same way as the Democratic Party did it in the 1990s and under Obama” before 2016.

“And going back to before 2016 means going back to war” for the US, Wimmer argued.

Relations between Washington and Brussels have deteriorated under Trump over his demands for the EU nations to make larger financial contributions to NATO as well as political and economic pressure on the block to stop dealing with Russia and China.

Hopes that things would improve under Biden will be dashed, “as long as the US and NATO don’t return to the Charter of the UN,” the 77-year-old, who also served as State Secretary to Germany’s Defense Minister, said.

However, he pointed out that it remains a question if the current US economy, which was heavily hit by the coronavirus, would even allow Biden to return to the aggressive policy, which the Democrats used to pursue.

Unlike German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, who already congratulated Biden over beating incumbent Trump in the US presidential election, Wimmer believes that others “should be very-very careful with congratulations.”

Twitter deletes several Angel Families’ accounts in post-election purge

Multiple accounts have been suspended.

Twitter has mass suspended the accounts of several “Angel Families,” the modern term to describe people whose family members have been killed by illegal immigrants. The social media company did not provide them with an explanation for the suspension.

The accounts affected include Advocates for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime and the Angels Families organization. The suspension also affected the personal account of Mary Ann Mendoza, whose son Dominic, who was a police officer, was killed by an illegal immigrant. She is the founder of the Angel Families organization.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, called on President Donald Trump not to concede and to “fight hard” in the current legal battles that ensued as Democrat nominee Joe Biden declared victory.

While a number of news organizations called the presidential race for Biden, the Epoch Times will not declare a winner of the election until all results are certified and any legal challenges are resolved. State legislatures and the Electoral College are the bodies that certify presidential elections.

“We will work with Biden if he wins, but Trump has not lost,” Graham told Fox Business on Sunday.

“Do not concede, Mr. President. Fight hard.”

The Trump campaign has not conceded and has launched legal challenges in several states over allegations of voter fraud and software glitches. Both Trump and his campaign have remained defiant, with the backing of a number of other Republicans.

Graham, who recently won his reelection campaign, called on GOP colleges to “fight back, or we will accept our fate.”

“I want Pennsylvania to explain to the American people how six people, after they die, can register and vote in Pennsylvania. I want the computer systems in Michigan that flip votes from Republicans to Democrats to be looked at, and the software was used all over the country,” Graham said.

“There’s a lot of shenanigans going on here, and if I were President Trump, I would take all this to court, I’d fight back, and from a Republican point of view, mail-in balloting is a nightmare for us.”

Ethiopia’s PM has unexpectedly replaced key officials, as the offensive against his country’s northern Tigray region gains momentum. The region’s leadership, in turn, said it will fight until central government negotiates.

The abrupt reshuffle was announced by PM Abiy Ahmed on Sunday, when he replaced his army chief, the head of intelligence and the foreign minister. Abiy did not give any reasons for the change, which came amid the ongoing five-day offensive against the Tigray region.

The operation against Tigray was launched earlier this week, the central government claiming it was needed “to restore the rule of law” there. An alleged attack by troops loyal to the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) on a national military camp was used as a direct pretext to launch the hostilities. The TPLF – a powerful faction that used to rule Ethiopia for years before Abiy came to power in 2018 – rejected the accusations, insisting that no attack took place.

Biden IS the Swamp

Since the US has no official institution to call an election soon after the polls have closed, and people want a result fast, it has befallen on the media to make the announcement. And by and large, this hasn’t been that big a deal. But when those same media have for 4 years relentlessly hounded one of the two candidates, it should be obvious that this “system” should not be applied. If only because it has no legal status whatsoever.

However, people both in the US and abroad don’t appear to be aware of this. So when the New York Times et al declare a winner, this is seen as an “official” announcement. It is not. That won’t come until the Electoral College gathers in December (8-14th?!). And at least until then, Trump will have every right to contest the election in court. Still, “world leaders” are congratulating the “next president”. Do they really not know how this works?

The idea behind it all is obvious, of course: to make Trump look like a sore loser, and Biden the president-elect, a title the media claim they can bestow upon him. Do remember that both Biden’s and Kamala’s campaign were considered dead in the water at one point, before they were magically resurrected by the party machine, which ensured that =two people very unpopular in their own party now lead the ticket. Be careful what you wish for.

In that light. I found this intriguing. Twitter adds a warning to this Trump tweet: “Official sources may not have called the race when this was Tweeted”. I haven’t seen one instance where they attached the same warning to tweets about Biden winning and being President Elect. But wouldn’t that be the same thing?

No, I don’t particularly mind Biden winning, Washington is a shit hole whoever occupies the White House and other posts, but this is not about Biden. It’s about the people behind him. About the people who elected him to be a candidate, and that’s not his voters; it’s the DNC, the FBI and media that made him possible.

Everyone in the MSM is talking about Trump’s alleged lies, as they have for 5 screeching years, main news networks on Thursday even cut off/short a speech by the President of the United States -that must be a first-, but nobody reflects on the 5-year neverending constant lies they have all told ABOUT Trump, on the entire Russiagate episode, the Mueller report based on only lies, the whole shebang.

The DNC that paid for the Steele dossier without which there would never have been a Mueller special counsel, commissioned by Rod Rosenstein when he was Deputy Attorney General, which was based on lies, exclusively, the FBI that used the Dossier to falsify FISA applications, people like Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler and Nancy Pelosi who kept on lying about having evidence of Russian collusion.

And still these are the people accusing Trump of lying. And they feel they can get away with it, because their media also incessantly repeated their lies, and is still doing that. Forget for a moment about what you think about Donald Trump, and tell me how you feel about an attempt to unseat an elected American president with nothing but lies.

Do you think that will be a one-off? If so, you’re blind. If Joe Biden and his handlers ever get into the White House, respect for the Office of the Presidency will still be gone, and it will be for a long time, decades. That’s the price the American people pay for the attempt to unseat Trump based on lies only. Do you really feel that’s a price worth paying? I suggest you give that some serious thought.

Global economy may NEVER return to pre-pandemic growth level – World Bank

The recovery of the global economy from the coronavirus crisis will be very slow, according to the World Bank’s senior economist Patrick Kirby. He said the growth rate may never return to pre-pandemic levels.

“We believe that for a couple of years we’ll remain below the 2019 level, and will almost never reach the growth rates that were before that,” Kirby said during the Moscow Exchange Forum that was held virtually this week.

According to the economist, the situation observed in many countries across the world, could be compared to the “hardest” consequences of the 2008-2009 financial crisis. And that is despite the positive results of the third quarter, Kirby added.

He also said that as the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic starts spreading across many countries and the global recovery is relatively slow, central banks will be forced to keep key rates low.

Several prominent leaders who maintained warm relations with US President Donald Trump have yet to wish US president-elect congratulations.

As many world leaders rushed to send President-elect Joe Biden congratulations on his projected US election victory over Donald Trump, others were notable in their silence on Sunday.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said he would not congratulate Biden on his victory until all legal challenges are resolved.

Lopez Obrador said during a press conference he would refrain until “all legal issues [related to the election] are resolved. We don’t want to be reckless”.

The Mexican president added that his country had a good relationship with both Biden and President Trump, as he praised the sitting leader for being “very respectful of us”.

While outspoken disappointment was scarce, several prominent leaders who have maintained warm relations with Trump’s administration also kept silent on Biden’s win. That included President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia.

Also noticeably absent from well-wishing were Russia’s Vladimir Putin and China Xi Jinping.

True to the confrontational style he and Trump share, Bolsonaro also clashed with Biden during the presidential race.

When Biden said during his first debate with Trump that the US needed to push Brazil to better protect the Amazon rainforest, Bolsonaro called the statement “disastrous”.

“What a shame, Mr John Biden!” he said, mistaking the former vice president’s first name in the English version of his tweet.

Brazil’s leading media outlets reported Trump’s defeat in the context of its own populist leader, who has similarly sought to diminish democratic institutions and reject science-based facts.

“Trump’s defeat punishes the attacks against civilisation, it is a lesson for Bolsonaro,” wrote Folha de Sao Paulo, one of Brazil’s main daily newspapers.
