POLICE: 2 Adults, 2 Children Shot In Virginia Beach, Scene is ‘Very Active’

Virginia Beach, Virginia — Police were responding to a shooting scene with multiple victims in Virginia Beach Sunday night. The cops were called around 5:30 p.m. local time for the shooting in the 3700 block of Whitney Court.

Police say two adults and two children were transported to area hospitals with “what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.” Adding, the scene remains “very active.”

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately known. No further details were available.

California Man Flew To NJ For Sex With 11-Year-Old Girl, Prosecutor Says

TRENTON, NJ – Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal announced that a California man was sentenced to state prison today for traveling to New Jersey in an attempt to sexually assault an underage girl.He communicated online with a man he believed was offering him an opportunity to sexually assault a girl, age 11, but that man was really an undercover detective of the New Jersey State Police.

Ian Brewer, 25, of Pomona, Calif., was sentenced today to seven years in state prison by Superior Court Judge Regina Caulfield in Union County. He pleaded guilty on Aug. 27, 2020 to an accusation charging him with second-degree attempted aggravated sexual assault.He will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and will be subject to parole supervision for life.

Deputy Attorney General Jamie Picard prosecuted Brewer and represented the Division of Criminal Justice Financial & Cyber Crimes Bureau at the sentencing hearing.Brewer was arrested in an investigation by the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, assisted by the Bayonne Police Department.

Brewer began exchanging emails in December 2019 with the undercover detective. The undercover detective said that for a fee, Brewer could sexually assault the 11-year-old daughter of his girlfriend. The detective represented that he and his girlfriend were part of a group that met regularly to sexually assault the child. Brewer agreed to pay a fee of $500 for the weekend to have the girl perform oral sex on him. He was arrested on Jan. 17, 2020 after flying to New Jersey and checking into a hotel room. He was arrested at a restaurant in Elizabeth, N.J., where he went to meet the man and his girlfriend. Brewer had $701 cash in his possession, and numerous condoms were found in his hotel room.

“Through these collaborative operations involving the ICAC Task Force, we are working ceaselessly to arrest child predators like Brewer before they can sexually assault young victims,” said Attorney General Grewal.“ At the same time, we urge parents, guardians and teachers to warn children about the threats that exist on social media and gaming sites and watch for signs that a child has been subjected to online abuse.Online threats to children have increased as much as 50 percent in New Jersey since the start of the COVID pandemic, as gauged by tips to law enforcement, and the need for vigilance has grown this fall as children log more hours of screen time for virtual learning.”

Biden's first move as president-elect? Mask mandate for all. Here's how he plans on doing it.

Dr. Marc Siegel believes a more punitive approach to mask wearing may have the opposite impact of what the Biden admin intends.

One of Joe Biden's first priorities as president-elect will be implementing mask mandates nationwide by working with governors. The future 46th president, however, says if they refuse than he will go to mayors and county executives and get local masking requirements in place.

Fox News medical contributor Dr. Marc Siegel believes that while masks are "the icing on the physical distancing cake" and should be worn properly both indoors and outdoors, especially when people are too close together, a more punitive approach to mask wearing may have the opposite impact of what the administration intends.

"I think masks are quite useful, but they have a place and they're not the be all and end all," Siegel said. "I'm worried that mandating this with fines and such may actually lead to more of a rebellion against it."

He noted that the use of masks should be determined based on how much of the risk of exposure to the coronavirus is in a specific area rather than mandating it everywhere.

As for social distancing, Biden's plan says it will be used as more of a "dial" approach that will determine the risk of spread using evidence-based guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a move Siegel says is a mistake.

"I don't think social distancing is dial. I think masks are a dial," Siegel said. "Social distancing is something we should just be doing right now. You never know how much virus was in the community."

He believes physical distancing is actually more important to curbing the spread than masks are.

"I think physical distancing is more important than masks," Siegel argued. "If you're 10 feet away from someone, you're not going to get the virus. If you're one foot away with a mask, you might."

Siegel's comments come just a day after crowds flooded the street across major cities to celebrate Biden's projected win. While the majority of Americans supporting Biden have worn masks, many of the celebrations over the weekend had an absence of social distancing, which the president-elect has appeared silent on.

At Least 26 Dead in Honduras Amid Floods Caused by Hurricane Eta - Reports

At least 26 people have died in Honduras as a result of flooding caused by tropical storm Eta, six others remain missing, the local La Tribuna newspaper reports.

More than 65,900 people remain cut off from communications in Honduras, while almost 27,000 have been evacuated from their homes amid the flooding, La Tribuna reported on Sunday.

At least 26 people have died and at least six remain missing amid heavy rains and flooding that occurred in the north of Honduras, the newspaper said.

Landslides have destroyed 49 houses, while 140 buildings were seriously damaged. More than 20 bridges were destroyed.

Eta hit Central America as a Category 4 hurricane earlier in the week, it has since been downgraded to a tropical depression. The storm has caused severe flooding in several countries, including Honduras, where a total of 1.7 million people are believed to have been affected.
