39 House Republicans Ask Bill Barr to Ensure Integrity of Voting and Counting Process

More than three dozen House Republicans, including House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Biggs (R-AZ), penned a letter Friday to Attorney General William Barr asking him what he is doing to ensure the integrity of the 2020 presidential election amid allegations of irregularities.

“While each state runs its own election process, the United States Department of Justice is ultimately responsible for the integrity of federal elections. The American people must have the utmost confidence that the outcome of the presidential election is legitimate,” the letter said.

Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), a staunch Trump administration ally, tweeted about the letter on Saturday:

I’ve joined 38 of my colleagues in writing a letter to AG Bill Barr requesting he investigate claims of voter fraud and make sure only all legal votes are counted in this election.

The American people need to have confidence that the outcome of this election is legitimate!!

The lawmakers said it was time for Barr to use the resources of the Justice Department to make sure the election and vote counting process is conducted in a manner that is fully consistent with state and federal law.

“It is also important that the process be completely transparent, so that the American people will have full confidence in the result,” they said.

They said the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division Voting Section’s responsibility is to ensure voters have access to a ballot box and that no one’s vote is devalued by any means of voter fraud.

They also said the U.S. Marshals Service is also available to ensure that judicial orders are carried out.

“When it comes to a federal election, it should not matter whether those judicial orders come from a state or federal court. For example, if a state court orders that observers can watch ballot counting in a federal election, no local election official should be able to defy that order,” they wrote.

They asked for Barr to immediately respond to the following questions:

What are you doing to ensure the integrity of the voting and counting process right now?

Will you commit to using all the resources at your disposal to ensure that only legal votes are being counted and being

counted in a fully transparent manner immediately?

The letter was also signed by:

Reps. Michael Cloud; W. Gregory Steube; Bob Gibbs; Bill Posey; Ralph Norman; H. Morgan Griffith; Jeff Duncan; Ted Budd; Mark Green; Andy Harris, M.D.; Scott DesJarlais; Dan Bishop; Jody Hice; Mike Kelly; Randy K. Weber; Brian Babin; Chip Roy; Robert E. Latta; Ben Cline; James Comer; Guy Reschenthaler; Warren Davidson; Scott Perry; Rick Allen; Roger Marshall, M.D.; Doug LaMalfa; Bill Flores; Bill Johnson; K. Michael Conaway; Kevin Hern; Glen Grothman; Tom Emmer; John Joyce; John W. Rose; Lance Gooden; Jodey Arrington; and Dan Crenshaw.

Australia On Edge Over "Deeply Troubling" Reports China Placed Import Bans On 7 Commodities

Australia says it's continuing to monitor what top officials have said are "deeply troubling" signs that China is actively initiating trade disruptions as retaliation amid downward spiraling relations between the two major trade partners.

Since last week regional reports have said Chinese buyers were warned by Beijing not to purchase seven categories of Australian goods, which has set Canberra and firms across the continent on edge given China is recipient of nearly one-third of all Australian exports.

Australia's Trade Ministry last month began protesting the delays and significant rumors of further import bans, with Trade Minister Simon Birmingham last Monday charging that Chinese authorities were implementing targeted "discriminatory actions".

Starting Friday Australian media reported the following commodities will be subject to increased inspections upon reaching port in China:

copper ore

barley

sugar

timber

lobster

coal

wine

This after last month a ban was placed on some timber and barely shipments, commonly used in animal fodder and beer production. Beijing subsequently vehemently denied the charge of discriminatory actions. As Reuters summarizes of where things stand, there's little that can be "confirmed" of the rumors and allegations:

Trade minister Simon Birmingham said Chinese officials had publicly and privately denied any coordinated effort was being taken against Australia, and said he hoped Beijing "is true to its word".

"They deny any discriminatory actions that are being taken. But that doesn’t seem to be what industry is seeing and hearing at present," he said on radio station 5AA.

A Chinese source briefed on the matter said that trade in the goods was effectively halted for now, and other products such as beef could be affected in future.

"It was not an absolute order, but a suggestion," the person said, declining to be identified due to the sensitivity of the matter.

It appears for now that China is leveraging the ability to blame nebulous 'delays' on mere bureaucratic inspections procedures.

The Morrison government has urged China to "play by the rules" as billions of dollars are on the line. However, Beijing is clearly in the driver's seat.

Scalise: Election Laws Weren’t Followed in 2020 — ‘Very Serious Concerns’

Sunday on “Fox & Friends Weekend,” House Minority whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) reacted to the President Donald Trump campaign’s legal battle over the 2020 presidential election results.

Scalise pointed out that some election laws were not followed on election night, including some states not allowing poll watchers to watch the ballot counting and counting ballots after 8 p.m. in Pennsylvania.

“We’re really at the beginning of the legal side of this. Of course, you had election night Tuesday night. Then you had some states still counting, some very questionable things happen, especially when you look at many states that have the laws that allow a poll watcher to watch the counting. It’s part of the transparency process that’s a law in most states. That was not being followed. They were not allowing Trump’s poll watchers to watch what was going on. And, you know, what are you doing behind closed doors where you’re afraid to let other people watch you when the law says you have to?”

“Clearly, the Pennsylvania law, which is clear after 8 p.m. on Tuesday night, ballots can’t be counted, yet they were counting those ballots,” he continued. “The Supreme Court said you have to keep them separate. There were questions of whether or not they separated all of those ballots, and the secretary of state has yet to set how many they are. She’ll say, ‘Well, we don’t think it’s enough to be outside the margin.’ Well, then how many is it? Why aren’t they transport about these things? These are laws on states’ books that aren’t being followed. Dead people have clearly been identified as having cast ballots. These are all things that raise very serious concerns, and it’s part of the legal process.”

This Election Is Not Over… And The Media Knows It

Like many, I spent the last few nights waking up at 2:03 A.M., no reason, then looking at my phone for news, any news, that might be positive for President Trump. I survived on Rush, Bongino, Mark Levin. When the news continued to be ugly, I even checked in on ridiculous bloggers promising that ballots were watermarked and D.J. (our household name for a president we love) was actually launching a sting on the Deep State.

Enough already. Stop the madness.

Hey, I have a degree in statistics, and I have some level of critical thought. If there is such pessimism in my tribe, I am not going along.

So today, I started to dig into the numbers, and as I did, I fought my confirmation bias at every step.

I realized that I, like millions of others, had been numbed into despondency by the overwhelming press, media, social media push to certify President-Elect Biden. (I put that in there so you can see how repellent it is.)

Hey guys, this thing is not only not over; it is scary for Biden. I mean really scary, and most of all, the media know it. Thus, the rush to get everyone in line with the narrative that a 78-year-old, early-dementia former V.P., who could not draw a crowd larger than a dozen, just beat D.J. in a fair election.

Process that for a moment.

Media shuns Trump's claims of election interference after embracing Clinton's in 2016

Babylon Bee: "Hillary Clinton: 'Trump Must Stop Fueling Dangerous Conspiracy Theories About Our Elections Being Unfair.'"

The Babylon Bee satirical news site last week had a story headlined: "Hillary Clinton: 'Trump Must Stop Fueling Dangerous Conspiracy Theories About Our Elections Being Unfair.'"

"After escaping from her underground padded room designed to look like the Oval Office, Hillary Clinton called on Trump to concede the race and stop fueling conspiracy theories about the election being unfair," the satirical website wrote. "The woman who has screamed about Russia stealing the election from her in 2016 lashed out at Trump for saying voter fraud stole the election from him in 2020."

While it was all just a joke, it's not far off from what's actually happening with President Trump, who has been claiming that voter fraud and other nefarious activities — with just as much proof so far as Clinton: none — altered the outcome of a presidential election.

The only difference: Social media, along with the mainstream media, are dismissing Trump's claims — even though they went all in for Clinton's equally unsubstantiated claims.

In a 24-hour period between mid-morning Thursday and Friday, Twitter censored six of Trump's posts. Trump's posts weren't visible. Instead, there was this note attached by Twitter: "Some or all of the content shared in this Tweet is disputed and might be misleading about an election or other civic process."

Site visitors could still click "view" on the right side to see the post.

In one post, Trump said: "All of the recent Biden claimed States will be legally challenged by us for Voter Fraud and State Election Fraud. Plenty of proof - just check out the Media. WE WILL WIN! America First!"

A couple of other posts from Trump included, "STOP THE COUNT!" and "ANY VOTE THAT CAME IN AFTER ELECTION DAY WILL NOT BE COUNTED!"

Twitter also provided another link alongside many of the president's tweets that takes visitors to a page titled "civic integrity policy."

Gun-toting St. Louis couple sue news photographer over infamous image

The St. Louis couple that shot to viral infamy when they pointed guns at Black Lives Matter protesters outside their mansion are accusing a news photographer of trespassing to capture a now-iconic image of the June confrontation.

Mark and Patricia McCloskey, both personal injury attorneys in their 60s, filed a lawsuit Friday against United Press International shutterbug Bill Greenblatt over his June 28 snap, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

The photo — which shows Mark wielding an AR-15 rifle in a pink polo and slacks, with Patricia by his side holding a semiautomatic handgun — contributed to the couple’s “significant national recognition and infamy,” the suit states.

The defendants, including Greenblatt and UPI, are profiting from “t-shirts, masks, and other items, and licensing use of photographs bearing Plaintiffs’ likenesses, without obtaining Plaintiffs’ consent,” the court documents claim.

The suit also names online print-shop Redbubble for selling merchandise with the couple’s image accompanied by “mocking and pejorative taglines or captions” — causing them “humiliation, mental anguish, and severe emotional distress.”

“Defendants acted outrageously and beyond all reasonable bounds of decency, with their conduct regarded as atrocious and intolerable by any member of a civilized society,” the suit boldly charges.

Meanwhile, UPI recently said it was considering whether to send a “cease and desist” order to the couple — because they’ve been using the news service’s photo in a personal greeting card.

Newspaper photographers are allowed to capture images from public rights of way.

The McCloskeys, who live on a private street, have argued that protesters were also trespassing during the incident, which has since become a political lightning rod, earning the couple a spot at the Republican National Convention in August.

The couple have since been indicted on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and evidence tampering in the encounter and pleaded not guilty.

In addition to damages, the McCloskeys are asking for the court to ban the use of the photo and to transfer ownership of the image to them, along with any others captured from their property.
