MSNBC's Joy Reid: Homophobic Posts On My Blog Were Made By 'An Unknown, External Party'
According to MSNBC anchor Joy Reid, homophobic posts she appeared to have made on The Reid Report, a site that pre-dated Reid’s former MSNBC show with the same name, were created by an “external party” that “manipulated material from my now-defunct blog.”
Last December, Reid apologized when she admitted she had written homophobic material between 2007-2009, including attacking former Florida governor Charlie Crist by calling him “Miss Charlie” and trumpeting that Crist was actually a closeted gay man who stayed closeted for fear of the effect such a revelation would have on his political career. As Mediate pointed out at the time, “As bad as the conspiracy theory is in itself, Reid doesn’t just suggest Cris is gay — she assumes he is gay and proceeds to attack him for it. ‘Miss Charlie, Miss Charlie. Stop pretending, brother. It’s okay that you don’t go for the ladies,’ wrote Reid in a 2007 post.”

Every Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, as well as Republican Rand Paul (KY), has indicated they would vote against Pompeo’s nomination. On Monday morning, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders urged Democrats who did support Pompeo to step forward, saying, “Look, at some point, Democrats have to decide whether they love this country more than they hate this president, and they have to decide whether they want to put the safety and the security and the diplomacy of our country ahead of their own political games, and we’re very hopeful that they will.”
Heitkamp announced she would support Pompeo last week; Manchin joined her on Monday morning. Both are Democrats from red states.

Missouri Governor Eric Greitens Indicted On Felony Charge
On Friday, Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens was indicted on a felony charge of computer tampering stemming from actions related to his campaign and a nonprofit donor list.
St. Louis prosecutors allege that the Republican Governor took data from a veterans charity that he founded and used the information to raise money for his political campaign in 2016 without the charity's knowledge.
CNN reports:
Greitens founded the charity, The Mission Continues, to support military veterans as they readjust to civilian life. But a probable cause statement issued by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office charged that Greitens "directed the disclosure" of "data, specifically a donor list owned by The Mission Continues, to a political fundraiser … working on behalf of Greitens for Missouri."
Greitens and an unnamed campaign aide "knew that the donor list disclosed on April 22, 2015, was taken without the permission of The Mission Continues."
