‘Get ready’: Biden Covid-19 adviser pitches national lockdown, warns US will be hitting 200,000 cases a day

Epidemiologist Dr Michael Osterholm, who has joined Joe Biden’s Covid-19 advisory board, has warned Americans to “get ready,” as he expects cases to continue to surge, and wants a national lockdown to combat the pandemic.

The Biden adviser said the “darkest months” are ahead when it comes to Covid-19, due to the winter driving people indoors, and fatigue and disaffection affecting their willingness to adhere to health guidelines.

These factors, Osterholm claims, will likely drive daily case figures to a new high.

“Get ready. We’re going to be hitting 200,000 or more cases a day, and we have to get prepared in our hospitals,” he told MSNBC’s Morning Joe program on Monday.

The US has exceeded daily records multiple times over the past few days, including on Saturday, when it recorded 128,000 new cases.

Osterholm is of the opinion that a national lockdown is required to “drive this infection level to a place where we can actually control it.” However, he admitted, compliance is key. “If you interview 50 people, you get 75 definitions of what a lockdown is,” he said.

Citing the success of contact tracing in China and elsewhere, Osterholm claimed the US had fallen short in its battle against the pandemic.

If the government were to impose a national lockdown, the country should help fight the “pain and suffering economically” that comes from people being unable to work and businesses being forced to shut down by allowing the borrowing of “money from ourselves” to “pay people to lose their jobs,” he said. “That would be a very different kind of lockdown, where people wouldn’t suffer.”

Ten State Attorneys General Join Suit Against Pennsylvania Where Individuals Were Allowed to Vote Three Days After the Election

Ten state Attorneys General join the suit against the Pennsylvania court’s attempt to unlawfully change the Constitution.

FOX 43 reports:

Republican Attorneys General from 10 states joined together to file an amicus curiae brief in support of two lawsuits asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review Pennsylvania’s three-day extension to receive mail-in ballots.

The brief was filed Nov. 9 in support of Republican Party of Pennsylvania v. Boockvar and Scarnati v. Boockvar by the Attorney General of Missouri and joined by the Attorneys General of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, South Dakota and Texas.

Both lawsuits challenge a decision made by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in October mail-in ballots could be counted if they were received by Friday, Nov. 6…

…The Republican Attorneys General’s amicus brief argues the three-day ballot acceptance extension violates the U.S. Constitution elections clause, which states, “The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.”

The Attorneys General said at a press conference announcing the amicus brief that the Pennsylvania legislature—and not the Pennsylvania Supreme Court—is the only body with the power to change election ballot rules.

It’s about time states around the union stand up for the American voter. When states like California changed their voter laws allowing the harvesting of ballots which led to enough Democrat Representative wins in 2018 to win the House, they injured all Americans.

This move by ten states adds additional weight to the seriousness of the case and the seriousness of a state independently making non-constitutional decisions to steal an election. Before the election the three liberal judges on the Supreme court all agreed with the unconstitutional Pennsylvania law but when Judge Roberts agreed with them, the ruling went back to the lower court since the Supreme Court’s vote ended in a tie. Judge Barrett declined to join the court due to her being new to the job and not having been engaged in the case.

If and when this goes back to the Supreme Court all nine justices will likely vote and the unconstitutionality of the attempted steal will be overturned. However, the remedy will be challenging. If the votes were not properly segregated, then another suit will likely ensue.

The battles begin.

Erie, Pennsylvania USPS Worker Placed on UNPAID LEAVE For Blowing Whistle on Backdating of Ballots

Pennsylvania USPS whistleblower Richard Hopkins went public last Thursday and confirmed federal investigators have spoken with him about Postmaster Rob Weisenbach’s order to backdate ballots to November 3rd, 2020.

Richard Hopkins was the SECOND Pennsylvania USPS whistleblower who came forward to Project Veritas on Thursday claiming the Postmaster ordered late ballots to be picked up and separated to be backdated.

An affidavit signed by Hopkins was given to Lindsey Graham and the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Richard Hopkins is now being targeted and was placed on UNPAID LEAVE for blowing the whistle on backdating of ballots.

It gets worse…

James O’Keefe said Richard Hopkins’ GoFundMe was flagged and it is not allowing withdrawals.

Lindsey Graham: “Potentially 25,000 Nursing Home Residents in Different Nursing Homes Requested Mail-in Ballots at the Exact Same Time”

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) joined Sean Hannity on Monday night to discuss the election developments.

Lindsey told Sean Republicans must fight the current fraud in this year’s election or never win another presidential election.

He’s right.

If Republicans abandon Trump the Trump base will abandon Republicans.

That is clear.

Lindsey also pointed out likely election fraud in Pennsylvania nursing homes.

Senator Lindsey Graham: “I’ve got more information. We’re now finding potentially that 25,000 nursing home residents in different nursing homes requested mail-in ballots at the exact same time. You can’t ballot harvest in Pennsylvania. What are the odds that 25,000 people in different locations of the same age group requested at the same time a ballot? Somebody is up to no good in these nursing homes.”

Put nothing past the Democrat Party.

Twitter testing feature to make it harder for users to ‘like’ things it doesn’t

Twitter has secretly begun testing a new feature designed to slow users down before they can ‘like’ a post, adding to a slew of new prompts and prods before people can interact on the platform.

The feature was first reported on Monday by Jane Manchun Wong, a Hong Kong-based software expert who reverse-engineers big tech apps to discover upcoming new features still in the development or testing phase.

Twitter is working on misinformation warning on Likes, just like the ones for Quote Tweets / Retweets pic.twitter.com/BLlmaw5RZK

— Jane Manchun Wong (@wongmjane) November 9, 2020

On attempting to ‘like’ a given controversial or potentially misleading tweet, users with the feature are challenged to “help keep Twitter a place for reliable info,” and “find out more” before being allowed to ‘like’ said tweet.

The feature doesn’t prevent people liking a tweet – it merely slows them down.

If introduced on the wider platform, the feature would be yet another in an array of new features unveiled by the tech giant in recent weeks that are aimed at content de-amplification, ostensibly to encourage critical thinking before information is shared.

These include a new prompt encouraging users to actually click through and read an article before retweeting it, in a bid to prevent the spread of clickbait headlines and ‘fake news’ across social media. However, time and time again, this type of intervention by social media companies has been weaponized by partisans on both sides of the aisle, with accusations of fake news and misinformation being rife.

More “Glitches” in Pennsylvania: Votes for Trump Drop IN THREE DIFFERENT COUNTIES SIMULTANEOUSLY — Almost As If It Was Coordinated

We have now reported on several “glitches” in the ballot counting this year.

Every single “glitch” resulted in Donald Trump losing votes and Joe Biden gaining votes.

We have now witnessed these “glitches” in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Michigan and Wisconsin.

At this point there is no way to know how many times this occurred or in how many states.

Only an audit of the votes in each state will reveal the abnormalities in the voter counts.

William Briggs found an unusual drop in President Trump’s total votes in THREE DIFFERENT COUNTIES at the same time period

WMBriggs reported:

The early gains for Biden are from, mainly, Philadelphia, Allegheny, Montgomery, Chester and Berks counties. A simple plot (click to see: it’s large) shows the size of vote additions for both candidates, when new vote totals (greater than 0) were added by county (and not all counties added votes after election day).

All goes well for Trump until 2020-11-04 21:15:00 when he loses just under 10,000 votes, but curiously from three different counties simultaneously: -1,063 Allegheny; -2,972 Bucks; -7,135 Chester. Biden never lost any votes (at least, in this late voting).

Safety, effectiveness, transparency: What we still don’t know about the Pfizer vaccine

Global markets surged and politicians and the public rejoiced online as Pfizer announced its Covid-19 vaccine was 90 percent effective, but not everyone is fully convinced, with a number of critical questions remaining unanswered.

On Monday, US drugmaker Pfizer and German partner BioNTech announced their “interim analysis” of a 43,538-person study of their two-dose vaccine regimen having proved 90 percent effective in preventing Covid-19.

Just 94 cases of the disease were observed in the large-scale trial, and early indications are that the fight against the coronavirus may be shifting in humanity’s favor at last. Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine had already boasted similar rates of effectiveness.

However, with all the market surges, breathless news coverage, and political messaging about the vaccine, a number of serious caveats, concerns, questions, and a distinct lack of detail remain.

We don’t yet know if the Pfizer vaccine entirely prevents infection, or whether asymptomatic carriers might still be a cause for concern in the years ahead. The study was also rather limited in scope, testing only whether there were fewer cases of symptomatic Covid-19 among vaccine recipients than those given the placebo.

In other words, without this information, we have no way of knowing whether this vaccine would actually stop the pandemic or not, or merely change its complexion.

The study also did not distinguish between the severity of Covid-19 cases among participants, nor did it provide demographic information on those who fell ill, so we still do not know whether vaccine recipients can fall critically ill or just develop a milder form of the disease.

There was no information given on the frequency or severity of side-effects, nor were key details shared about the vaccine’s safety profile.

Nearly 2,000 Russian Peacekeepers Enter Nagorno-Karabakh As 'Immediate' Ceasefire Signed

Coming a mere day after Azerbaijan apologized for the 'accidental' downing of a Russian military helicopter which was flying near the border over Armenian airspace, killing two pilots, what looks to be a significant and far-reaching ceasefire has been signed between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"I have signed a statement on the termination of the Karabakh war with Russian and Azerbaijani presidents from 01.00 pm," Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashiyan announced on Facebook Tuesday.

Unlike prior three attempts at ceasefire, all which failed almost immediately with the resumption of shelling in Nagorno-Karabakh, this one looks to have muscle given Russian servicemen will immediately enter Nagorno-Karabakh to act as peace keepers.

Pentagon Top Policy Official Resigns After Clash With White House, Follows Esper Exit

A day after President Trump terminated Mark Esper, essentially firing the Secretary of Defense via public Twitter statement, another top official has immediately followed after clashing with the White House.

The Pentagon's top policy official James Anderson has resigned this morning, according to Politico, which writes:

The departure of James Anderson, the acting undersecretary of defense for policy, potentially paves the way for Anthony Tata, President Donald Trump’s controversial nominee for the top policy job who was pulled from contention due to Islamophobic tweets, to take over the policy shop. Anderson's resignation also comes one day after Defense Secretary Mark Esper was fired by Trump, also over policy disagreements.

Politico strongly suggested there's more to come, noting, "Anderson stepped down after clashing with the White House personnel office, according to current defense officials and one former defense official, who expect Anderson will be the first of several departures in the wake of Esper’s firing."

UK’s beleaguered vaccines chief accused of profiting from $65m of taxpayers’ money steered towards her venture firm

The head of the British government’s Vaccine Taskforce may have personally profited from a $65 million investment of taxpayers’ money into a firm managed by a venture fund in which she holds a managerial post.

The allegation, which was raised by the Guardian newspaper on Tuesday, is the latest in a string of claims of impropriety leveled against Kate Bingham in recent weeks.

The biochemist and venture capitalist became the chair of the UK’s Vaccine Taskforce – a body created to facilitate acquisition and distribution of Covid-19 vaccines – in May. She combines her unpaid job with the government with being a managing partner in the private equity firm SV Health Investors.

In July, SV Health Investors announced that a fund managed by it had received $65 million in investment from British Patient Capital, a subsidiary of the state-owned economic development British Business Bank, so had been funded by taxpayers’ money.

The monies were paid into the SV7 Impact Medicine Fund, which invests in biotech companies. SV Health Investors earned at least £1.9m ($2.5m) in fees for managing the fund in 2019, the Guardian reported, citing paperwork filed with the government’s Companies House service.

“The accounts suggest Bingham, as one of the company’s two managing partners in the UK, receives an annual share of profits generated by SV Health Investors, suggesting she could stand to benefit personally from the performance of the fund,” the report said.

European Commission Slaps Amazon With Antitrust Charges Over Merchant Data

One day after the European Union said it would impose tariffs on $4 billion of U.S. goods, the European Commission, on Tuesday morning, announced antitrust charges against Amazon over how it manages platform data from third-party sellers that may give it an unfair advantage when selling its products, reported NYT.

Margrethe Vestager, the European commissioner who oversees the competition across the 27-nation bloc, said Amazon has distorted competition in the online retail market by exploiting its dual role as an e-commerce platform provider and retailer. The e-commerce giant uses merchant data from its own platform to gain an unfair competitive advantage when selling its own products.

Vestager said Amazon uses data from millions of vendors to spot popular retail trends. The online retailer immediately creates a similar product and sells it at a lower cost, crowding out third party sellers.

“We must ensure that dual role platforms with market power, such as Amazon, do not distort competition,” Vestager said in a statement. “Data on the activity of third-party sellers should not be used to the benefit of Amazon when it act as a competitor to these sellers.”

We reached the preliminary conclusion that @amazon illegally has abused its dominant position as a marketplace service provider in DE & FR. @amazon may have used sensitive data big scale to compete against smaller retailers. Now for @amazon to respond. @EU_Competition

— Margrethe Vestager (@vestager) November 10, 2020

According to Reuters, Amazon disagrees with the E.U. antitrust charges, indicating that its business represents less than 1% of the global retail market.

Tuesday’s announcement is just the beginning of the regulatory process to charge Amazon for distorting competition in online retail markets, as it may take months or years before penalties are announced or collected. The commission is likely to settle with Amazon.

The commission also said it began another investigation into Amazon's strategies that may artificially favor its retail offers and products of other companies that pay to use Amazon’s logistics services.

Amazon shares slid 2% in premarket trading Tuesday.

No matter which side of the Atlantic, it appears the E.U. and U.S. regulators are finally starting to address and soon recommend policies that would enhance competition in markets dominated by big tech.

Global Rally Fizzles, Nasdaq Tumbles As Pfizer Vaccine Skepticism Emerges

The 6-day rally which pushed US indexes briefly to all time highs on Monday, fizzled as worries about the extent of the COVID-19 pandemic’s economic impact resurfaced coupled with second thoughts about just how effective the Pfizer vaccine truly is.

Meanwhile, investors dumped expensive growth and tech shares and snapped up small-caps and cyclicals that would benefit the most from an economic recovery from the pandemic. Futures on the Nasdaq 100 slumped 1.5%, at one point tumbling over 800 points from Monday highs, while contracts on the Russell 2000 rose almost 2%. Netflix, Facebook, Apple fell between 1.8% and 2.3% as investors rotated into sectors that are expected to benefit from a full reopening of the economy.

Whoopi Goldberg goes off on 'The View,' tells Republicans, Trump supporters to 'suck it up': 'How dare you question' election results?

Wait, what?

Whoopi Goldberg, co-host on "The View," said that Republicans and conservatives should "suck it up" and accept the preliminary results of the 2020 presidential election — and even cited how "gracious" former secretary of state and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was in 2016 when she lost the election to President Donald Trump.

At the time of this reporting, Trump has refused to concede to Joe Biden and has said that he will be filing various lawsuits against several states' election results in order to "ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated."

What are the details?

Goldberg opened Monday's airing of the long-running daytime TV show by singing Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come."

Later during one of the segments on the 2020 presidential election, Goldberg accused Trump supporters of overreacting in their desire for a recount in various states across the country, saying that they need to "suck it up" and accept the preliminary results showing a victory for former Vice President Joe Biden.

"Now, I just want to bring something up right now," she said. "I want to say to all those people who don't believe that Americans actually got out and voted, let me say this to you: When you knew who was elected four years ago, Hillary Clinton didn't say 'Hey, wait a minute, this doesn't feel right, stop the count.' She didn't say, 'This isn't right, I'm not going for it.' She didn't say any of that. So, all of you, suck it up. Suck it up like we sucked it up."

She continued, "And if you're not sure that you're comfortable with Joe Biden, do what we did: Find things and then take it to the law and if the law says it's something to look at, look at it. But from now on, suck it up."

Goldberg added, "Grow the pair for [Trump] that he can't grow for himself, because this is ridiculous, you're not sure that he won. You're bringing into question all these Americans who voted legally, came out and stood and voted. How dare you question it?"

What else?

It seems fair to point out that many Democrats lost their minds and went into meltdown mode following Trump's 2016 election — and while former Democratic nominee Clinton did concede after the 2016 election results, she repeatedly obsessed over the loss for months and months following the Nov. 2016 shutout.

In the days following the 2016 presidential election, demonstrations and riots broke out across the country.

The New York Times reported, "On campuses nationwide, students marched against Mr. Trump with signs bearing slogans like 'Not my president,' and protesters in Oakland, Calif., smashed windows and set fire to garbage bins. On Wednesday night, thousands of people protested in several cities, including Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle and New York, where demonstrators converged in Midtown Manhattan in front of Trump Tower, the home of the president-elect."

Some voters even suggested that the Electoral College should refuse to elect Trump at the time.

In 2017, Clinton herself wrote a book titled "What Happened," which pondered the many failures on her part that led to the stunning defeat. In the book, she admitted to going to the woods nearby her New York home and screaming in horror. That same year, she also admitted that she'd watch news coverage on Trump's policymaking and international dealings and ask herself what she'd do instead, if she were president.

"Losing is my biggest regret," she told NPR at the time. "And losing to someone who was not qualified and did not have the experience or the temperament to be president of the United States. That is my biggest regret."
