CINCINNATI (FOX19) - FBI agents arrested Cincinnati City Councilman Jeff Pastor at home early Tuesday on federal bribery-related charges, FOX19 NOW has confirmed.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio David DeVillers confirmed the arrest to FOX19 NOW.
An FBI spokesman sent out a news release saying “The government will announce charges in a public corruption case” at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cincinnati FBI office.
DeVillers and FBI Special Agent in Charge Chris Hoffman are expected to speak.
The charges against Pastor involve the potential development of the former Convention Place Mall at 435 Elm St., across from Duke Energy Convention Center downtown, according to our media partner the Cincinnati Enquirer.
The mall closed years ago and the structure is mostly empty, the Enquirer reports, but city officials have recently discussed options to develop what many consider prime downtown real estate in the heart of Cincinnati’s business district.
The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority currently owns the property.
