Is FBI’s Wray Next to Be Fired?

Within hours of President Trump’s firing of Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, speculation mounted in official Washington that the president would take similar action and dismiss FBI Director Christopher Wray.

“Wray is gone — out of here,” a Justice Department source who requested anonymity told Newsmax a week before the election.

At the time, the source felt Trump would be reelected and then immediately proceed with removal of officials with whom he has had clashes.

Last May, Trump made clear his disappointment with Wray when he was asked by “ Fox News” about Wray’s role in the investigation of Russian involvement in the U.S. election that led to retired Gen. Michael Flynn’s resignation from his position as White House national security advisor and his three-years-long legal ordeal.

“It’s disappointing,” replied Trump, “Let’s see what happens with him. The jury is still out.”

The FBI director is appointed to a ten-year term, but can be removed by the president. In May of ‘17, Trump fired then-Director James Comey over his handling of investigations into Flynn and alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 election.

Among names mentioned as replacements for Wray are Joseph Pistole, 63, president of Anderson University (Ind.) and a former FBI agent himself, and Jeff Jensen, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, who drew national attention for orchestrating the decision not to prosecute Flynn.

Jensen if I was a betting man.

He has been everything from an accountant to swat team agent at the FBI and then he went to law school and eventually the USAO.

His specialties seem to fit the timeline.

We'll see what happens.

Sidney should be on SCOTUS in the future.

(Breyer IS 82 years old.)
