Adding to this. I was looking at the numbers last week.

 

Participation was high before women's suffrage, in the 70/80% range. Women's first vote was in 1920 which marked a steep decline in turnout percentage. From there it gradually increased and plateaued around 55%. You have to go back to pre-1900's to see turnout percentage as high as this year.

 

Everything about the stats in this year's election defies the odds. The Dems had to expose everything to defeat a president as popular as Trump is. My worthless opinion is that Trump received around 80M votes with Biden in the 55-60M range.
