But why signal to the DS at this point? What is the advantage of covertly signaling “we know” by having a presser in proximity to their bad behavior?
At this point, they either say “ we know what you did” publicly, or shut up and let it all come out to SCOTUS. There is no win in covertly signaling your enemy.
Which begs the question- what were they really signaling? Whistleblowers to come out? Did they tell them “we are serious” and will do a presser in the alley to prove it?
