Biden Covid Advisor Calls For Unconstitutional 4-6 Week Nationwide Lockdown to ‘Revive Economy’

Joe Biden’s Covid advisor Dr. Michael Osterholm called for an unconstitutional 4-6 week nationwide lockdown “like they did in New Zealand and Australia.”

Osterholm said a 6 week nationwide lockdown would get Covid under control and revive the economy.

We know that lockdowns do not work.

We also know that lockdowns destroy jobs and destroy the economy.

“We could pay for a package right now to cover all of the wages, lost wages for individual workers for losses to small companies to medium-sized companies or city, state, county governments. We could do all of that,” Osterholm said. “If we did that, then we could lockdown for four-to-six weeks.”

CNBC reported:

Shutting down businesses and paying people for lost wages for four to six weeks could help keep the coronavirus pandemic in check and get the economy on track until a vaccine is approved and distributed, said Dr. Michael Osterholm.

Osterholm, who serves as director of the Center of Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, said earlier this week that the country is headed toward “Covid hell.” Cases are rising as more people grow tired of wearing masks and social distancing, suffering from so-called “pandemic fatigue,” he said Wednesday. Colder weather is also driving people indoors where the virus can spread more easily.

A nationwide lockdown would drive the number of new cases and hospitalizations down to manageable levels while the world awaits a vaccine, he told Yahoo Finance on Wednesday.

Recall, Osterholm wrote a New York Times op-ed over the summer praising Chinese Communist style authoritarian lockdowns: “To be effective, the lockdown has to be as comprehensive and strict as possible.”

“We could really watch ourselves cruising into the vaccine availability in the first and second quarter of next year while bringing back the economy long before that,” he said Wednesday.

Joe Biden previously got called out by a few reporters over his vow to lock down the US and conceded that a US President does not have the Constitutional authority to do so.

5th Column Christian Zionists

Megachurch pastor, prominent Trump supporter Robert Jeffress says 'it appears' Biden won

'Here is our chance to show that Christians are not hypocrites.'

One of President Donald Trump's most prominent evangelical Christian supporters acknowledged Wednesday that former Vice President Joe Biden appears to be the winner of the 2020 presidential election.

Pastor Robert Jeffress, of the megachurch First Baptist Dallas, told The Dallas Morning News that Biden's victory seems to be "the most likely outcome," though he emphasized that he is not in any way calling the election over.

Trump has refused to concede the election to Biden, making allegations of voter fraud and challenging the results of several states in court. Jeffress did not echo Trump's complaints, insisting that if there is fraud it will come to light eventually.

"I don't pretend to be an election expert," he said. "I trust that if there is that kind of fraud that it would be uncovered."

Jeffress also penned a column for Fox News in which he wrote that Biden's election would be a "bitter pill to swallow" for conservative Trump supporters and that, while the results aren't official, "it appears that he won."

Jeffress' article is a pastoral exhortation for Christians to trust that God is sovereign no matter who is president and to remember to pray for earthly leaders, event those you disagree with.

"Human governments and rulers change at God's direction and design. Our faith and our salvation lie not in any human ruler, but in the ruler of rulers, the King of kings. We have to remember that even though the occupant of the White House is changing, the One who occupies the throne of Heaven hasn't changed," Jeffress wrote.

"The fact that God has established authorities means that by obeying the government, we obey God."

Quoting the Apostle Paul from 1 Timothy 2:1-2, Jeffress reminded Christians to pray "for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions."

Now, it's always easier to submit and to pray for someone when he was our preferred candidate. But the rubber really meets the road when the person who takes office is not the one we supported. Paul didn't give us any wiggle room — his command applies all the same, whether the emperor was the faith-friendly Constantine or the evil emperor Nero.

Here is our chance to show that Christians are not hypocrites. We serve a God who remains on His throne, sovereignly reigning over every square inch of this vast universe. We serve a God who loves us and will never leave or forsake us. And now we have the chance to show the consistency and constancy/ of our Christian witness to this world.

Jeffress is one of Trump's most vocal and visible Christian supporters, having traveled with the president on the campaign trail in 2016 and served on Trump's evangelical advisory board. While he supports Trump's right to challenge the results of the election, he acknowledges that it's unlikely the Trump campaign's lawsuits will uncover enough evidence of voter fraud to overturn the election.

Citadel Says Firm It's Suing "Can't Unsee" Secret Trading Algorithm Leaked By Ex-Employee

We first documented that Citadel was suing British hedge fund GSA Capital in January of this year, after GSA attempted to hire a senior Citadel trader, Vedat Cologlu, allegedly in hopes of accessing the quant secrets at the core of Citadel's "ABC" automated trading strategy.

Citadel is seeking around $40 million over claims that GSA was able to obtain information on the strategy via texts and WhatsApp, according to Bloomberg.

As the case progresses in a London court, Citadel is now arguing that GSA "can't unsee" and can't forget the information that was taken from Citadel's secret algorithm. Citadel is also moving to try and block GSA from using their trading model. GSA has argued that they found no "secret sauce" from a high-level description of the structure of a trading algorithm.

David Craig, a lawyer for Citadel Securities, argued this week: “GSA’s most senior managers now know where and how Citadel makes hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenues. They cannot forget that information, or put it out of their minds.”

He noted that only 15 of Citadel's 3,000 employees ever had access to the "strategic logic" of the strategy. One of those employees was Vedat Cologlu, a 2007 Wharton grad and self-described "stat arb trader", who helped operate and administer the models whose "returns were notably high given the low level of risk it took on."

Citadel has claimed its "ABC" quant strategy cost more than $100 million to develop. In its lawsuit, Citadel alleged that the UK fund wanted Cologlu to hand over confidential information about the strategy:

GSA asked for sensitive information on his equity-trading including his profits and the speed of the trades. And then Cologlu handed over a plan that Citadel argues was based on its own confidential model, including the way the algorithm made predictions.

And there's good reason for the information to be coveted. Citadel Securities has been wildly profitable: it generated $3.84 billion of revenue in the first six months of 2020, more than the $3.26 billion it made for all of 2019. Net income was $2.36 billion in the first six months of 2020, more than double the $982 million for the same period a year earlier.
