It's a metaphysical revolution that only occurs every 16 generations. In between, there are crises which change in a small way how people think and react - four generations after a metaphysical change comes a social change; four generations after that comes an economic change, then four after that comes a political change. Four generations later, another metaphysic grows out of the previous social, economic, and political shifts.
Getting through the new metaphysic takes two generations to a point of stability, to where most are comfortable with the new age.
