Malloch Brown was born in September 1953 in Marylebone to an exiled South African diplomat.[1][2][3][4][5] He was educated at Marlborough College,[6] and earned a First Class Honours Degree in History from Magdalene College, Cambridge and a master's degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan.[7] He is an only child. He has four children with his wife.[1]
