UNIVERSITY CENTER, MI: "Police are responding to an emergency situation at Saginaw Valley State University. At 8:21 p.m., the university sent an alert to staff and students stating that “due to a public safety emergency, the campus community is instructed to avoid Science West until further notice.”

Later, at 9:57 p.m., SVSU sent another alert.

“Police are responding to a person in distress who is isolated in Science West,” the alert read. “Everyone is instructed to avoid the building until further notice.”

Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel said he has deputies at the scene assisting SVSU police in erecting a perimeter. He could not divulge additional details."
