Amending the Constitution is VERY hard. Iy can take years to write and then never pass. Look into failed amendments.

CONVERSELY if the majority of states agree that the entire THING should be ripped up and start over, then they call a CC and that might (read WOULD) take years, especially since they all have to agree and if you've not read about the process of the FIRST Constitutional Congress you really need to get out and read.
