Biden taps transgender veteran to join Department of Defense transition team

President-elect Joe Biden has chosen a transgender veteran to be part of the transition team at the Department of Defense.

Shawn Skelly previously worked in the Obama administration in multiple defense and transportation roles, and became the first transgender veteran to be appointed by a president in 2013.

Skelly’s appointment comes as the Trump administration has banned transgender people from serving in the military under their self-identified gender.

The ban is still being battled in court, but Biden has signaled that he plans to overturn the executive order after he’s sworn in as president on Jan. 20.

Skelly has worked as an acquisition analyst at CACI International, Inc., an international IT consultancy firm, for the past two years, according to a LinkedIn bio.

Report: Chinese government is preventing Taiwan from participating in WHO meetings even though Taiwan hasn't had a local COVID infection for seven months

More evidence the WHO is in the pocket of the communist Chinese government

The Chinese government, which failed to control the initial outbreak of the virus and is widely suspected of having misled the World Health Organization and the global community about both the origins of the virus and the scope of its early spread, is now preventing Taiwan from participating in WHO meetings and explaining its success at containing the virus, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

According to the report, Taiwan has not had a locally transmitted coronavirus infection in seven months. Taiwan has sought to participate in World Health Organization meetings about the pandemic to discuss measures the island nation — which China considers to be a rogue province — has taken to successfully combat the spread of COVID. However, due to China's influence at the World Health Organization, which has frequently been criticized by President Trump and other Republicans, Taiwan has been prevented from participating.

Target Stops Sale of Transgender-Skeptical Book

The Twitter account for Target stores says the $80 billion corporation will stop selling a book about trangenderism’s harmful impact on young girls, following a complaint from a single Twitter account.

“Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. We have removed this book from our assortment,” the Target tweet said after an activist complained that Target is selling the book, authored by Abigail Shrier.

“Target.com just made my book disappear,” Shrier responded. “Does it bother anyone that Woke activists and spineless corporations now determine what Americans are allowed to read?”

The book, titled Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters, helps to explain how a wave of young girls are nudged and pushed into declaring they want to take life-altering drugs, adopt an opposite-sex identity, and undergo irreversible surgery.

Some corporations and many pro-transgender groups have tried to block and hide the book from American readers. In July, for example, Shrier tweeted:

Senior Administration Officials Lied To Trump About Troop Levels So He Wouldn’t Pull Out Of Syria

Jim Jeffrey, the United States’ retiring Special Representative to Syria and the special envoy in the fight against the Islamic State, confirmed Thursday that he and other senior administration officials routinely misled President Donald Trump on troop levels in the Middle East.

Jeffrey, speaking to Defense One, explained how despite Trump’s stated promise to withdraw America from endless Middle Eastern engagements, he was able to convince the president to commit to keeping between 200 to 400 troops in the region in 2019 to “secure” oil fields held by U.S. allies and other strategic positions.
