Ghislaine Maxwell fights to keep second deposition on sex life sealed
Ghislaine Maxwell’s lawyers filed a motion Thursday to keep a July 2016 deposition she gave about her sordid sex life under wraps.
She doubled down on the same arguments she made in her unsuccessful bid to keep an earlier deposition secret.
Her attorneys argued that releasing the deposition — given in 2016 as part of Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre’s now settled civil suit — would jeopardize her right to a fair criminal trial, embarrass her and violate a protective order that promised to keep the proceeding private.
“She appeared at the July 2016 deposition and answered hundreds of pages worth of questions concerning her ‘own sexual activity’ and ‘her knowledge of the sexual activities of others,'” wrote lawyer Laura Menninger of the humiliating interview.
After U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska ordered the release of the earlier April 2016 deposition and other sensitive documents, Maxwell’s lawyers took their case to the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The higher court sided with Preska.
The 465-page deposition was released in October and detailed the seamy relationship between Maxwell, 58, and the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Maxwell was grilled for seven hours on topics that included Prince Andrew, with whom Giuffre has said she was forced to have sex, her ties to former President Bill Clinton, who was pals with Epstein — and the existence of a “laundry basket of sex toys” kept at the late financier’s mansion in Palm Beach, Florida. Prince Andrew has denied the allegation.
The British socialite was arrested in July on a six-count federal indictment alleging that she trafficked underage girls to be abused by her and Epstein. The indictment includes two counts of perjury for allegedly lying about Epstein’s deviant sexual behavior in both 2016 civil depositions.
“It is not possible to overstate the close relationship between the documents plaintiff wants to unseal in this case and the criminal prosecution the government is pursuing next door,” wrote Menninger of the July 2016 deposition, which serves as a crucial piece of evidence to support one of the perjury counts.
“The press, the government, and plaintiff have made every effort o try Ms. Maxwell as a proxy for the now deceased Mr. Epstein,” the attorney wrote. Epstein allegedly committed suicide in federal lockup while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
Maxwell, who’s being held without bail at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, is slated to go to trial July 12, 2021, in Manhattan federal court.

Pentagon differs on post-election Hatch Act rules
Though the Office of Special Counsel has granted federal employees greater leeway in political expression after Election Day, the Department of Defense has notified its civilian and service-member employees that it plans to adhere to a stricter interpretation of the law governing such behavior.
The DoD released an article Nov. 10 explaining that when it comes to Hatch Act violations, displaying candidate support for the most recent election cycle will still be considered against the rules.
The difference between the DoD decision and OSC guidance — which states that employees may display candidate-specific materials now that Election Day has passed — largely comes down to whether certain political figures are considered candidates after all votes have been cast.
Under the OSC guidance, the political nature of certain materials that advocate for a specific candidate ends on Election Day, as federal employees cannot at that point influence an election where votes have already been cast, even if a winner has not yet been certified.
By contrast, the DoD has determined that workplace support for certain political candidates remains political until the results of the most recent election are certified.
“For example, display of a campaign sign reading ‘Gore-Lieberman’ or ‘Bush-Cheney’ would be permitted at any time because their presidential candidacies have ended. But display of a sign reading ‘Trump-Pence’ or ‘Biden-Harris’ would not be permitted until the results of the current election have been certified,” the DoD article states.
The date of certification varies from state to state, with some like Delaware and Oklahoma already past their certification deadline. States must certify by the “safe harbor” deadline, which occurs six days before electors are scheduled to meet and cast their votes, in order for the election results to remain undisputed.

Georgia GOP Chair Responds to Reports of Liberals Moving to State to Vote in Runoff Election
Top Republicans in Georgia are calling on the state’s board of elections and Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger to investigate individuals who may be moving to the state to vote during the upcoming runoff election for two U.S. Senate seats in January, following calls from prominent Democrats and media pundits.
Earlier this week, former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, on Twitter, wrote that both he and his wife are moving to the Peach State to campaign for Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock against Sens. David Perdue (R-Ga.) and Loeffler (R-Ga.).
On Nov. 6, Yang suggested that Democrats from out of state should “get ready to head to Georgia” to “give Joe [Biden] a unified government.” He said there isn’t much time remaining for absentee ballots to be mailed, which is Nov. 18 in the state.
New York Times columnist Tom Friedman also told CNN that he hopes that “everybody” can move “to Georgia in the next month or two, registers to vote, and votes for these two Democratic senators.”
“There should be a coordination of resources. Everyone who campaigned for Joe should get ready to head to Georgia. I’ll go,” he added. “It’s the only way to sideline Mitch and give Joe a unified government. There isn’t much time. The earliest date for absentee ballots to be mailed for the runoff is Nov. 18. The registration deadline is Dec. 7. The in-person early voting begins Dec. 14.”

Jon Ossoff's Financial Ties to Pro-CCP Hong Kong Media Company Revealed
A Hong Kong media company whose owner has condemned the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong has paid Jon Ossoff, currently a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Georgia. Ossoff challenged Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) in the November election and his race went to a runoff scheduled for January 5, 2021. The Democrat had failed to previously disclose the gift from the Hong Kong media company, which supports the Chinese Communist Party.
Ossoff recently amended a financial disclosure form reporting that he has received at least $5,000 from PCCW Media Limited over the last two years. His initial disclosure, filed in May, omitted the payments.
PCCW Chairman Richard Li (the son of Hong Kong’s richest man, Li Ka-Shing) has long condemned the Hong Kong independence movement and the pro-democracy protests, which oppose the CCP’s crackdown on the semi-autonomous region. Li also serves as a councilor for the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington, D.C., think tank.
PCCW paid Ossoff in connection with his role as the CEO of a London-based company producing investigative documentaries.
An Ossoff campaign spokesperson told National Review that the payments stemmed from the airing of “two investigations produced by Jon’s company of ISIS war crimes against women and girls,” representing “one of dozens of TV stations and distributors in more than 30 countries that have aired Jon’s work.”
“Jon strongly supports Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement and condemns the brutality and authoritarianism of the Chinese Communist Party,” the spokesperson added. Ossoff had previously been silent on the situation in Hong Kong.
In 2016, Li declared himself “staunchly opposed to the independence of Hong Kong” after a mainland Chinese media outlet reported that his company was backing pro-democracy singer Denise Ho Wan-see, inspiring backlash from Chinese nationalists.
“Mr. Richard Li and MOOV would like to clearly state that the company and Mr. Li respect freedom of expression,” the statement read. “However, both Mr. Li and the Company are staunchly opposed to the independence of Hong Kong and it is their view that the independence of Hong Kong would not be feasible, and discussing Hong Kong’s independence is a waste of society’s resources.”

Partisans Cheating By Ignoring Election Law Is A Problem As Big As Vote Fraud
Fraud and violations of the election code are two distinct problems, yet there has been little analysis of the latter, which might be more significant.
Fraud represents only one aspect of concern over the results from last week’s election. Of equal import when judging the legitimacy of the next president of the United States is whether states complied with the election rules established by their legislatures. These are not questions of mere “technical errors,” but raise significant constitutional concerns.
On Wednesday, Jim Geraghty of National Review tweeted his “Morning Jolt” summary of post-election lawsuits. “The Trump campaign,” Geraghty stressed, “conceded in oral arguments they were not contending fraud or improper influence, merely technical errors,” he wrote of a recent election case. Geraghty’s article, linked in his tweet, continued: “It is one thing to fume on Twitter that there is a sinister effort to steal an election; it is another thing to assert that sweeping claim in a court of law, before a judge, under penalty of perjury and/or disbarment.”

On the evening of November 5, the President of the United States delivered remarks from the White House relaying the evidence of a massive vote fraud conducted by the same intelligence community-Wall Street- Big Tech alliance that had been actively organizing for his overthrow for 4 years. But what does that mean? What are illegal votes?
As the president lays out in that censored speech and in other locations over this past week, illegal votes means just that: votes garnered for one candidate or subtracted from another candidate through illegal means. The typical forms such illegal votes tend to take may be: 1) mail-in votes that arrived past legal deadlines and yet were counted anyway or had their time stamps changed by postal workers, 2) votes from dead people, 3) absentee votes from people who had moved from the states in registering their votes. There are others of course.
The single most important technique used in this entire business of vote fraud has come to light in the form of big tech-controlled voting machines and associated vote counting software which has come to dominate most elections around the world over the past 20 years which were exposed already 14 years ago in the 2006 documentary Hacking Democracy.

At Least 11 Killed In Indian-Pakistani Exchange Of Strikes In Disputed Kashmir Region
At least 11 people were killed and 30 others were injured in a recent exchange of strikes between Pakistan and India in the disputed Kashmir region.
The Pakistani Armed Forces and government blamed India for initiating clashes by firing rockets and mortar shells that killed 5 Pakistani civilians and wounded 27 others on November 12 and 13. The Pakistani side described the attack as ‘unprovoked incident of cease-fire violations’ and said that Pakistani troops responded by targeting the Indian posts.
The Indian military said three of its soldiers were killed and three others were wounded. Three Indian civilians were also killed by Pakistani shelling. The Indian side says that it acted in response to Pakistani shelling and actions of Pakistani sabotage groups.
The situation in the area remains tense but there are no indications of any offenisve preparations by any side.

Jose Aliaga was a GOP Poll Challenger on election night in Detroit at the TCF Center, formerly known as Cobo Hall.
While there, Aliaga saw the 3:30am Biden Ballot Dump of ballots arriving after the 8pm ballot deadline that pushed Biden ahead of Trump in the state.
He describes the 3:30am ballot dump, counting 59 boxes of new absentee ballots, at a time when Trump was leading Michigan by 300,000 votes.
These ballots were spread out to the tables, where Jose noticed at his table that they were all ballots for Joe Biden and incumbent Democrat Senator Gary Peters, and there were no other marks on the ballot.
At that point the intimidation of GOP Poll Challengers increased, to prevent Jose and other challengers like him from observing the cheating he believed was going on.
Jose described Antifa-like people who were picking fights with Republicans.
Jose saw no more than 60 GOP Poll Challengers and 200+ Democrats.
The Democrats didn’t have to follow the rules about talking to poll workers, and cell phone use while votes were being counted. Jose says the Democrats’ only job was to intimidate people trying to protect the integrity of the vote.
His statements match other accounts of a pattern of massive intimidation used to prevent election integrity that night, critical to ensuring voter fraud went on without notice or challenge.
When Jose was walking around, he heard Democrats and Poll Workers talking about “extra votes” and he felt as though they were engaged in voter fraud. “They were very well organized.”
“I know in Venezuela elections are like this.” Jose added, “This election was stolen.”

Anthony Fauci’s new COVID-19 guidance: ‘Do what you’re told’
WASHINGTON — Dr. Anthony Fauci has some new coronavirus guidance: “Do what you’re told.”
In an interview Thursday, the coronavirus task force member and infectious disease expert pushed back on the notion that scientists were “authoritarian” for promoting strict lockdowns and social distancing measures.
But the 79-year-old suggested the American spirit of independence had gotten in the way and the nation needed to follow their orders, whether they liked it or not.
“I was talking with my UK colleagues who are saying the UK is similar to where we are now, because each of our countries have that independent spirit,” Fauci said during a panel with other experts in Washington, DC.
“I can understand that, but now is the time to do what you’re told,” he said, as first reported by CNBC.
The longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has repeatedly clashed with President Trump and his administration, who have dismissed him as “a bit of an alarmist” amid the pandemic.
Fauci said Thursday it was unfortunate that America’s scientists had been “lumped into politics” and that people were unwilling to follow their guidance because society was so “divisive.”
“All of a sudden, science gets caught in a lot of this divisiveness,” he told the audience.
It comes as public health officials and the Trump administration grapple with how to combat new record numbers of daily coronavirus infections.
Daily US cases topped 150,000 for the first time Wednesday, while hospitalizations have also hit another all-time high.
Fauci said the nation could avoid another round of economically devastating lockdowns if people simply washed their hands, wore a mask and remained socially distant.
“It sounds simple in the context of this ominous outbreak, but in fact we can turn it around,” he said.

'He is absolutely not a flight risk,' defense attorney argues before his client, accused rapist, disappears
Accused rapist and robber vanishes after judge reduces his bail to $500 because of COVID-19
A Chicago man accused of robbery and sexual assault has gone missing after he was released on $500 bail by a judge who determined he was at higher risk of contracting COVID-19 and reduced his bail bond to keep him out of jail during the pandemic.
CWB Chicago reported that Rene Chandler, 31, was awaiting trial on charges of sexually assaulting and battering two women he met on dating apps in 2018 when he allegedly assaulted and robbed a third woman in an Uber in April 2019. At the time of the third alleged assault, he was wearing an electronic monitor pending a trial on the first two charges. Chandler was arrested and initially ordered to be held without bail for violating the terms of his sexual assault case bonds.
However, in the spring Chandler's attorney filed an emergency motion to reduce his client's bond based on the higher health risk from COVID-19 imposed by Chandler's asthma condition.
"He is absolutely not a flight risk," the attorney wrote in his bail reduction request.
Judge Thomas Hennelly granted the defense attorney's request, imposing a $500 bail bond, according to court records reported by CWB Chicago.
After his release, Chandler disappeared.
Chandler is accused of committing assault and robbery while previously on bail awaiting trial for sexual assault charges.
In August 2018, Chandler was charged by prosecutors with sexually assaulting and battering two different women he met on dating apps. He was arrested for the assaults and the presiding judge set his bail at $100,000 for each alleged attack. He posted $20,000 to be released from jail with electronic monitoring.
A few months after he was released, while his trial for sexual assault was pending, a third woman accused Chandler of battering and robbing her as they rode in an Uber. She claims that he struck her in the face and stole her new phone along with $640 cash from her purse, according to prosecutors. The state alleges that Chandler ran from the Uber and fled in a taxi cab.
After his arrest for the third assault, a judge ordered him held without bail for violating the terms of bail in the sexual assault cases, and set a new bail for the robbery charges at $80,000, according to court records.
However, in April after the coronavirus pandemic arrived in the United States, Chandler's defense attorney was able to successfully argue for his bail to be reduced. Judge Hennelly presided over the bail hearing on April 9 but was not the judge overseeing Chandler's sexual assault and battery cases.
According to CWB Chicago, prosecutors "presented minimal counter-arguments" to Judge Hennelly at Chandler's bail hearing. The state attorney's office admitted that its lawyers did not present Hennelly with all of the facts of the sexual assault cases. After Chandler's bail was reduced prosecutors filed an emergency motion to have his no-bail status reinstated.
Further, after the bail hearing, prosecutors accused Chandler of discussing a plan to pay off one of his alleged victims to prevent her from testifying against him at trial. During a phone call on March 31, Chandler "details one of his cases and also discusses a previous attempt to tamper with a victim and pay her a sum of money to alter her story," state attorneys said.
At a new hearing conducted over Zoom because of the coronavirus pandemic, prosecutors presented the new allegations before Judge Michael McHale. After hearing the prosecutors' arguments and Chandler's defense, McHale ordered Chandler to return to jail without bail, but he was not taken into custody immediately. Chandler has since vanished.
A warrant has been issued for Chandler's arrest. He remains at-large.

Beijing Vows To "Strike Back" After Pompeo Says Taiwan "Not Part Of China"
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has once again sparked outrage among Beijing leaders by expressly referring to Taiwan as "not" part of China.
Pompeo said in an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Thursday that Washington's perspective remains bipartisan and unanimous in understanding that Taiwan "has not been a part of China" for decades.
"That was recognized with the work that the Reagan administration did to lay out the policies that the United States has adhered to now for three-and-a-half decades," he explained in the provocative comments.
Interestingly, Pompeo had specifically been asked about how the US might respond if China decided to take Taiwan by force, to which the secretary of state emphasized that both the Republican and Democratic parties have committed to defend Taiwan's democracy.
This was predictably met with a swift response out of China, with its foreign ministry saying Friday it won't hesitate to "strike back against any moves that undermine its core interests," according to Reuters. Such "moves" have lately included unprecedented American weapons sales to the island, including drones and coastal defense missiles.
"We solemnly tell Pompeo and his ilk, that any behavior that undermines China’s core interests and interferes with China’s domestic affairs will be met with a resolute counterattack by China," Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said.
He affirmed that Taiwan was "an inalienable part of China" and that Pompeo's remarks are further spiraling Sino-US relations. However, despite the bellicose and jingoist rhetoric, it's more likely Beijing is now just waiting out the clock on the Trump administration.
Meanwhile Taiwan's foreign ministry issued a statement thanking Pompeo for his support, saying, "The Republic of China on Taiwan is a sovereign, independent country, and not part of the People’s Republic of China. This is a fact and the current situation."

DHS boss Chad Wolf defies Trump order to fire cyber chief Chris Krebs
Department of Homeland Security acting Secretary Chad Wolf is defying President Trump’s order to terminate election cybersecurity official Christopher Krebs, multiple sources tell The Post.
The White House on Wednesday evening instructed Wolf to fire Krebs after he openly dismissed claims of voter fraud in the Nov. 3 election.
“He gave us a bunch of reasons why he didn’t want to do it and he said no,” a senior White House official told The Post about Wolf’s refusal.
“If anything, Chad is carrying Krebs’ water,” the source added.
Krebs, a former Microsoft executive, has since 2017 led DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and recently launched a “Rumor Control” website to debunk claims of voter fraud. A CISA panel declared Thursday that the “November 3rd election was the most secure in American history,” rejecting Trump’s claims of widespread fraud.
A different administration official said “the president wants to fire him” and “Chad Wolf is refusing.”
Both officials told The Post that there was no ambiguity about whether the termination order came from the president, who says fraud resulted in narrow unofficial losses to Biden in crucial swing states.
“Honestly, it was the president saying, ‘What the heck is this guy doing? He’s giving me grief before the election and now he’s saying there’s nothing wrong in the world?'” the White House official said.
Krebs irked Trump allies even before he refuted claims that election fraud tilted results toward Democrat Joe Biden. Foes claim he’s close to former DHS chief of staff Miles Taylor, who recently outed himself as “Anonymous.”
A third person familiar with the matter noted concern that Krebs employs as his senior adviser for election security an Obama appointee, Matt Masterson.
“Chad was asked by the president to fire Anonymous’ best friend and he’s refusing,” the administration official said. “He is not managing his agency but that should not surprise anyone because he is a [former DHS Sec. Kirstjen] Nielsen lackey.”
Taylor did not respond to a request for comment from The Post about whether Krebs is indeed a friend.
It’s unclear if Trump will use his unilateral right to dismiss Krebs from his post without Wolf’s assistance, officials said.
A spokesman for Wolf said, “All political appointees serve at the pleasure of the president. The White House has unilateral authority in hiring and firing of presidential appointees.”
Wolf, in office less than a year, immediately preceded Taylor as Nielsen’s chief of staff. But he’s an unlikely face of lame-duck resistance to Trump after regularly backing he president’s policies in public and helping put down anti-police brutality riots this year.
Among Krebs’ sins, according to sources, is his decision to host an election-night gathering at a northern Virginia office building — described by a detractor as a watch party. Who chooses the President of the United States?
This question is by no means rhetorical. For example, the mass disinformation media has chosen Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 election. Many people liked this news, but I must disappoint them – the television broadcasters have, according to the U.S. Constitution, nothing to do with who will live in the White House for the next four years.
Maybe the Supreme Court chooses the President? No, the Constitution does not provide for this. Could it be that the citizens of America choose their President? Following the U.S. Constitution, no. So, who then chooses the President?
Before answering this question, let us note that, contrary to popular misconception, the President of the United States is not a representative of the American people. State legislators and governors are representatives of the people, and at the federal level so are the members of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress. (Currently, senators are also representatives of the people, but before the ratification of the 17th Amendment to the Constitution in 1913, they were appointed by state legislators). So, who does the President of America represent?
The President of the United States of America, according to the Constitution, represents state legislators' interests and no one else.
In general, the federal government's structure in America reflects the numerous attempts of the Founding Fathers of the United States to introduce a system of effective state control over the federal government. The fact is that the main difference between our country and all other countries, without exception, is that it was organized "from the bottom up," that is, individual colonies voluntarily united against a common enemy – the British Empire. All other "republics" on the planet were created "from the top down," when the already existing provinces were graciously granted some independence by the already existing central government.

Mainstream Media United in Forcing 'President-Elect' Biden Down Your Throat
Few people are gullible enough to believe everything anybody tells them. But how suspicious is it when nearly everybody seems to be telling you the same thing even though you know of obvious exceptions? How about when people flat-out lie and misrepresent?
Whom are you going to believe: the mainstream media or your own lying eyes?
Some skepticism is called for when the mainstream media are so uniformly in agreement about anything, let alone about a hotly disputed presidential election.
"President-elect" is the legal term for the person with 270 or more votes cast in the Electoral College, which doesn't even meet this year to cast those votes until Dec. 14, a month in the future.
Then, and only then, will we have a "president-elect." And maybe not even then if the investigations of corruption in several states haven't concluded and hold up certifying state election results.
So, at least until then, the correct term for Joe Biden is not "president-elect," despite the mainstream media gratuitously hanging that title on him.
It's not a casual mistake. Check CNN, CNBC, USATODAY, CBS, Politico. Even Al Jazeera.
More accurately, Biden should be referred to as "the guy who has been hiding in his basement and demanding that you wear a mask." Or maybe "the daddy of the guy with no particular known skills who has apparently made himself rich by selling access to his dad to China, Ukraine, and who knows whom else."
Or, if you want to be charitable like Bill Whittle and extend grace, the proper technical term for Biden is "some guy."
Purposeful distortions like referring to Biden as what he isn't are designed to reinforce the idea in the public mind that the election is over. Nothing to see here. Move along.
It's a tactic perfectly captured by this New York Times headline: "Officials in Every State: No Evidence of Voter Fraud."
You can bet that you can find an official in every state who will say that. Whether it's an official in a position to know is an entirely different question. Whether it's an honest official without an agenda to advance is another question altogether.
But enterprising reporters can always hunt down an "official" to give them the answer they want. It's a skill soon mastered by even the greenest cub reporters. I've known editors who instructed reporters to "call so-and-so if you need a quote." You knew that the editor knew what the gist of the quote would be.

Tourist Voter Registration Illegal in Georgia, but Prosecution Is Rare
New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman is encouraging non-Georgia residents to move to the state so they can register to vote in two January 5 U.S. Senate runoff elections.
“I hope everybody moves to Georgia, you know, in the next month or two, registers to vote, and votes for these two Democratic senators,” Friedman told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Tuesday.
The outcome of those runoff elections, one that pits incumbent Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) against Democratic challenger John Ossoff and the other in which incumbent Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) faces Democratic challenger Raphael Warnock, will determine the balance of power in the Senate when the 117th Congress convenes in Washington in January.
With the results in all other general election contests in the U.S. Senate now known, the current balance of power in the upcoming 117th Congress stands at 50 Republicans and 48 Democrats. If both Democrats win in the January 5 special election, there would be 50 Republicans and 50 Democrats in the Senate, meaning the vice president would break any ties.
In a worst case scenario for Republicans, a 50-50 U.S. Senate with a Vice President Kamala Harris could end the filibuster in the “world’s most deliberative body” and result in Senate approval of schemes to pack the U.S. Supreme Court.
For that reason, the runoff elections for the two U.S. Senate seats in Georgia on January 5 are vitally important to both Democrats and Republicans.
While Friedman stopped short of calling on non-Georgia residents to move temporarily to the state solely for the purpose of voting in the January 5 runoff elections before returning to their homes outside of Georgia, other Democratic activists appear to have encouraged non-Georgia residents to move to the state temporarily only for the purpose of voting in those runoff elections.
Anyone who claims to be a Georgia resident who is not currently registered to vote has until December 7 to register and be qualified to vote in both January 5 runoff elections.
But temporary “tourist voter registration” is illegal under Georgia law if the person who registers to vote does not intend to remain a permanent resident of the state:

Top Obama Adviser David Plouffe: Watch Breitbart News to See Where Republicans Are Headed
David Plouffe, Democrat political strategist and former Obama campaign manager, said Thursday during a panel discussion on the 2020 election that the “most important people” in determining the direction of the Republican Party are Breitbart News and other conservative media outlets.
The McCain Institute held the roughly hour-long virtual panel discussion, moderated by Showtime host and Atlantic contributor Alex Wagner, which featured New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, Never Trumper and former Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) campaign manager Rick Davis, and Plouffe. C-Span broadcasted the event live.
Plouffe’s remark weighed in on the future the Republican Party after the election. He said in response to a question from Wagner:
[I]n the future, 2024, whether it’s [former Vice President Joe] Biden or [Sen.] Kamala Harris [D-CA] or some other Democrat who’s running for the presidency, whoever emerges on the Republican side — if it’s [President Donald] Trump, we know he’ll just continue the act, but will there be trashing of elections and trashing of election officials, and trashing of norms, and threatening not to abide by results?
…I really think [the] most important people in the Republican Party today about the future are not really [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell — on legislation, of course, Mitch McConnell — or Kevin McCarthy, or anyone thinking about running for president, it is Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, it is the people that run Breitbart, it is the people that run Prager University, it is the people that run the Epoch Times. Now it is the people who are running Newsmax.
If they say the election is not legitimate, if they say Trumpism is the thing we need to double down on, whether Trump is at the head of the snake or not, that’s what’s going to happen, because that’s where the energy is. So to me what we need to be watching is all of those entities over the next 60 to 75 days, where do they land? Because where they land, I think most Republicans are going to feel that they have to follow that.

Michigan Judge Denies Trump Bid To Block Certification, Election Audit
The day is getting worse for the Trump legal team as following dropped cases in Arizona, and losses in Pennsylvania, Bloomberg reports that a Michigan judge has rejected an attempt by two poll challengers to block certification of a Biden win in Detroit. Additionally, the judge also denied request for an audit of the election.
Circuit Court Judge Timothy Kenny ruled Friday that the suit failed to show why he should halt the certification or order an audit of the vote tally in Michigan’s largest city.
At a hearing before Kenny on Wednesday, a lawyer for the city of Detroit warned against any order that boosted Trump’s “unsubstantiated conspiratorial theories” of voter fraud.
“There’s nothing to support it,” attorney David Fink argued.
“But the outcome undermines the very bedrock of our democracy, the faith of the people in the democratic process.”
