Recall that AG Barr announced that US Attorneys should investigate any credible voter or election fraud, if they found out about it.

Why is this seemingly commonsense order so important?

According to the Manual of Investigation and Prosecution of Election Crimes:

Consultation with the Public Integrity Section is REQUIRED

to:

• expand an election fraud or patronage investigation

• conduct interviews with individual voters during the pre-election period, on election day, or immediately after

the election, concerning the circumstances under which

they voted;

• issue a subpoena or search warrant in connection with an

election fraud or patronage matter;

• present evidence involving an election fraud or patronage matter to a grand jury;

• file a criminal charge involving an election fraud or

patronage offense; or

• present an indictment to a grand jury that charges an

election fraud or patronage offense.

The order from AG Barr FREED the US Attorneys from having to get approval from the Public Integrity Branch before proceeding with an investigation.

Previously, without the approval, the US Attorneys could really only document complaints and collect a couple facts before calling the PIB.

Who was the gatekeeper at PIB who would (NOT) approve investigations?

The guy who just quit (that position)...Richard Pilger.

When you can't keep investigations from (truly) starting, what is the point of having that responsibilty anymore?

Ignore what ever other obscufication the media or Mr. Pilger used to blur the story...fugettaboutit because this is the nut.

Big surprise, but the media frames it a bit differently.
