Pompeo Begins 7-Nation Tour Amid Global Lockdowns and Trump Election Battle

PARIS—Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in a locked down Paris Saturday morning to start a 10-day jaunt across Europe and the Middle East that comes amid a backdrop of the Trump administration’s last-ditch legal efforts to remain in office.

The nation’s top diplomat is likely to offer private assurances to world leaders that if former vice president Joe Biden takes office, the Trump administration will assist with an orderly transition. Many of the leaders Pompeo is scheduled to meet have already congratulated Biden on his win. Pompeo’s seven-nation tour also will take him to several Middle Eastern hotspots—including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates—where Iran’s global terrorism operation is likely to be a secondary focal point with world leaders.

Pompeo raised eyebrows on Friday when he stated during a press conference at the State Department that there will be a "smooth transition to a second Trump administration." While Pompeo, like other top administration figures, maintains that Trump won the 2020 presidential election, he clarified a day later in an interview with CBS News that an orderly transition will take place before Jan. 20 no matter who is declared the victor.

"Our adversaries should know that we're ready, we're continuing to work, we'll work all the way through January. And then on January 20th, we'll have a transition, whether it's to a Trump administration—a second Trump administration as I spoke about today—or to an administration led by former vice president Biden," Pompeo said.

The trip also comes amid the still growing coronavirus pandemic, which has initiated a new wave of global lockdowns. Pompeo had virtually no public press conferences scheduled as the trip began, which are usually customary with visits by senior U.S. officials. In Paris, the city is two weeks into a monthlong, full-scale lockdown. Most of the Middle Eastern countries Pompeo is scheduled to visit also are shut down due to the virus.

The trip began with a spark of controversy: Pompeo will visit Istanbul, Turkey, but will not take meetings with the country’s leaders in the capital, Ankara. U.S. officials who briefed reporters ahead of the trip said Pompeo wants to focus on issues of religious liberty, and he is scheduled to meet several prominent figures, including the Greek Orthodox Christian leader Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I. Turkish political leaders view Pompeo’s agenda as a snub, with the country’s foreign ministry calling his meetings "extremely inappropriate."

During his two days in Paris, Pompeo will meet with French president Emmanuel Macron and participate in a wreath-laying ceremony to honor victims of the city’s most recent terrorist attacks. These events will be tightly managed and limited to a small pool of reporters that excludes most of those traveling with the secretary on his plane.

From Paris, Pompeo will head to Istanbul.

Media takes heat for ignoring violent attacks on Trump supporters at MAGA rally

Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., said 'media blackout' was 'terrible' and 'telling'

Conservatives criticized members of the media for failing to cover violence against President Trump's supporters at the so-called Million MAGA March in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.

"I want to hear Joe Biden and Kamala Harris condemn Antifa/BLM criminals who assaulted and harassed peaceful demonstrators in DC today, including elderly and families," political strategist Doug Stafford wrote on Twitter on Saturday. "Of course they won’t. And 'media' won’t make them."

"Watching video of people being assaulted and mobbed by BLM/Antifa in DC tonight brings back awful memories. Want an example of media bias? When Rand Paul and I spoke out about our mob assault, the AP reported our claim was 'without evidence' despite 10 minutes of video," Paul's wife Kelley Ashby Paul wrote on Twitter.

The Pauls were surrounded by what the senator described as a "crazed mob" after the Republican National Convention in August.

Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., said the "media blackout" was "terrible" and "telling."

"The President’s supporters have a right to peacefully rally supporting POTUS just like his opponents have that same right," Zeldin wrote on Twitter. "The physical assaults today by violent leftists targeting his supporters is abhorrent. The near total media blackout of the violence is terrible… [and] telling."

Several thousand Trump supporters protested election results and then hailed Trump's passing motorcade before nighttime clashes with counterdemonstrators sparked fistfights, at least one stabbing and at least 20 arrests.

After night fell, the relatively peaceful demonstrations in Washington turned from tense to violent.

"When violent far left wing extremists organize violence online, you can always count on the Twitter hall monitors to ignore it," political commentator Mike Cernovich wrote on Twitter, calling members of the media "Antifa propagandists."

Cernovich shared screenshots of NBC News' Ben Collins and CNN's Andrew Kaczynski tweeting about White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany's response to the march and Kyle Rittenhouse, who allegedly killed two protesters and wounded a third during unrest in Kenosha, Wis.

"Actual violence caught on video tonight – multiple horrific instances – and here’s what the media guys who REALLY CARE ABOUT EXTREMISM are posting," Cernovich wrote.

HHS spends hundreds of thousands funding study of non-heterosexual women who drink and use FB

The study's goal is to use Facebook to examine the discrepancies between the drinking habits of heterosexual and non-heterosexual women

This week, our award is going to the Department of Health and Human Services for allocating upwards of $200,000 toward research dedicated to the alcohol consumption patterns of non-heterosexual, female Facebook users.

Between the years of 2018-2020, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), a division of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), funneled $210,776 to a research group at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Calif., whose aim was to examine "an innovative gamified personalized normative feedback (PNF) intervention to reduce drinking among members of a local sexual minority women community found to frequent Facebook," according to description of the grant.

Loyola Marymount University (LMU), a private, Roman Catholic institution of higher learning that overlooks the scenic hills of Playa Vista and has a half-billion dollar endowment at its disposal, is tapping the United States Teasury to delve into the research field of non-straight female imbibers who frequent the Facebook community.

The project, which is being overseen by LMU professor of Psychology Joseph LaBrie, posits: “Sexual minority women in the United States are more likely to drink alcohol, engage in heavy drinking, and experience alcohol-related problems than are heterosexual women. Yet, to date, no evidence-based intervention or prevention efforts have been developed to reduce alcohol consumption in female sexual minority community settings."

The HHS-funded experiment will consist primarily of an "inviting, Facebook-connected, social game" that plays on "harmful sexual minority female stereotypes." Multiple rounds of said game will, in theory, help researchers account for the discrepancy between the drinking habits of straight and non-straight women. The game is designed to focus on "sexual minority stereotypes which incorporates users' Facebook photos to increase believability and a point-based reward system to increase motivation and engagement."

The use of Facebook in the experience is designed to create an approachable format for the experiment, given the research teams' hypothesis that non-heterosexual over-imbibers are less likely to seek help for their over-consumption issues than other identity groups.

To think, for just a little more cash than the government authorized for this experiment, a private citizen could send his or her child to LMU to witness (or even participate in) this type of groundbreaking, taxpayer-funded research.

We will continue to enforce and to educate businesses about the governor’s recent directive and social distancing requirements. Beginning this weekend, the city’s business license officers and compliance ambassadors will visit 2 percent of the city’s businesses, or about 300 businesses per day every day, to ensure they are following the governor’s recent directive. Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak recently signed Emergency Directive 033, adjusting statewide standards on gatherings and other areas. The new directive changes the previous limitation on gatherings from 50 people to 250 people or 50 percent of occupancy, whichever is less. This applies to both indoor and outdoor venues, including houses of worship.

Compliance ambassadors are not enforcing the directive; they are observing behaviors and verifying whether violations are occurring. If there is an enforcement action that needs to be taken, that will be done by a business license officer. The compliance ambassadors are existing city employees; they are not new hires or newly added positions. These employees have been reassigned to the ambassadors program temporarily from their normal department. These ambassadors have been trained to identify whether any violations of the directive are occurring and to educate the business owners. If these ambassadors observe a clear violation of the directive, they will refer that to a business license officer who will then visit the business and address the violation. Business license officers have the ability to write citations and issue fines.

By using ambassadors to observe behaviors, business license officers are able to focus 100 percent of their time on addressing violations, to help keep customers and employees safe.

Mayor of Tomsk charged with abuse of power

MOSCOW, November 14. / TASS /. Tomsk Mayor Ivan Klein was charged with abuse of power, the Investigative Committee press service told reporters on Saturday.

"He was charged with committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The accused pleaded not guilty," the department said.

Klein was detained in his office on November 13. On Saturday, at the request of the investigation, the court detained him.

Netanyahu defends Pfizer deal: ‘This is a very good investment’

Netanyahu said that some clauses of the contract were not, in fact, meant to be published and said that “we do not want to jeopardize the supply by revealing the details of these agreements.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the country’s agreement with Pfizer Inc. to receive eight million doses of its coronavirus vaccine on Sunday, after the agreement was called into question over the weekend by Israeli media.

“This is a very good agreement,” Netanyahu said. “The price per dose is about a thousandth of the general expenses we have incurred from the coronavirus so far. This is a very good investment in the health and life of you, the citizens of Israel.”

On Friday, the Hebrew website Ynet received inside information that Israel was going to be paying NIS 800 million – NIS 100 per dose or NIS 200 per person – as every person needs two doses to be protected – for the Pfizer vaccine. In addition, it was revealed that the contract does not commit Pfizer to supply the vaccines to Israel. Rather, the contract includes only an intention to do so “according to circumstances.”

On Sunday, Health Minister Yuli Edelstein lashed out at whoever leaked the information and said that “a serious crime was committed on Friday… I have no doubt that it will make it difficult for us to reach agreements with other companies, because they have seen what we signed with Pfizer.”

Netanyahu said that in fact some clauses of the contract were not meant to be published and said that “we do not want to jeopardize the supply by revealing the details of these agreements.”

He added that he is confident that “if Pfizer provides vaccines to the world’s leading countries, it will provide exactly the same to us. On Friday afternoon, Israel signed a contract with Pfizer that was signed by Health Ministry Director-General Chezy Levy, Health Ministry Accountant, Hassan Ismail, and Pfizer’s vice president Janine Small. The contract was prepared after direct negotiations between Netanyahu and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla.

Last week, Pfizer revealed an interim analysis of its Phase III study that showed the vaccine is 90% effective.

Israel also has contracts with Moderna Inc. and Arcturus to receive their vaccine candidates upon approval, however those companies have yet to publish any data on their Phase III human trials.

A deep dive into the results in Milwaukee shows a similar pattern The Gateway Pundit found in Pennsylvania and Dr. Shiva found in Michigan. The more Republican the precinct the higher percentage of votes shifted from President Trump to Joe Biden.

We’ve also previously reported on the results from Milwaukee where the number of votes that went for Joe Biden made no sense using the statistical technique known as ‘Benford Analysis’:

Today we report the results of a similar analysis of the results in Milwaukee based on Dr. Shiva’s analysis. We analyzed precincts in Milwaukee and found again that votes were transferred from President Trump to Joe Biden in an unnatural pattern indicating fraud.

According to Dr. Shiva and others, the voting machines used in the US in the current election and in prior elections have the ability to store votes not as binomial characters but as fractions. This allows these machines to weigh votes for candidates and change elections based on this weighting.

There is NO REASON why this feature should be included on a voting machine.

There is only ONE REASON to include this feature on voting machines — to STEAL elections.

For example, if you like a candidate you count two votes for every vote he or she receives. If you don’t like a candidate you give that candidate one-half a vote for every vote that person receives. You then set up a voting machine’s weighting such that all votes are allocated based on you weighting. At the end of the day you count ballots and all are counted but the number of votes for the first candidate is nearly twice as much as the number of votes that candidate received and half as much of the number of votes for the second candidate. This can be done because we’ve found that votes are stored as decimals in US voting machines providing for manipulation and voter fraud.

Judge Rules DHS DACA Rules Invalid

A federal judge has ruled that since acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf was unlawfully appointed, the rules he published in July governing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) were not valid.

The decision is the second legal blow to Donald Trump’s efforts to limit or do away with DACA. The Supreme Court ruled in June that Trump wrongly tried to withdraw protections for children whose parents came to the United States illegally.

With only weeks left in Trump’s presidency, it doesn’t appear that the Obama-era program will end. Joe Biden will almost certainly reestablish it and even expand it.

Judge Nicholas Garaufis said court conferences would be held to work out details of his ruling.

He concluded, “Wolf was not lawfully serving as Acting Secretary of Homeland Security under the HSA [Homeland Security Act] when he issued the Wolf Memorandum” that suspended DACA.

Karen Tumlin, a lawyer in the case and director of the Los Angeles-based Justice Action Center, said the ruling means, “the effort in the Wolf memo to gut the DACA program is overturned.”

Donald Trump has named 5 DHS secretaries during his term but only 2 were confirmed by the Senate. Mr. Wolf apparently didn’t have the “statutory authority” to succeed to the post.

“Based on the plain text of the operative order of succession,” Garaufis wrote in the Saturday ruling, “neither Mr. McAleenan nor, in turn, Mr. Wolf, possessed statutory authority to serve as Acting Secretary. Therefore the Wolf Memorandum was not an exercise of legal authority.”

Biden is set to turn Trump’s immigration policy 180 percent around. That means that several other of Wolf’s rulings are likely to be invalidated.

But the import of the judge’s decision is unclear at the moment as President-elect Joe Biden prepares to take office and usher in a profoundly different attitude towards immigration. Biden is widely expected to limit deportations and to press for legislation to legalize so-called Dreamers, but any moves he takes by executive action could face the same kinds of court challenges that targeted Obama’s policies and later ones that went after Trump’s.

That’s the problem with ruling by decree. It’s easy to put a legal roadblock in the way and either slow it down or reverse it. Since Biden won’t get any help from Republicans in the Senate, he won’t get much done legislatively either.

DACA is a disaster waiting to happen. Under Obama, “kids” as old as 21 entered the country illegally with their parents and were given a pass. Biden wouldn’t dare put any limits on the program, lest he get sued too. So millions of adults who knew that they were breaking the law by entering the United States illegally with their parents will be free from the threat of deportation. And those DACA recipients can apply for their parents to stay too.

It raises the question of why we even have borders at all.

On the very day that pharmaceutical giant Pfizer announced preliminary data showing its vaccine was 90 percent effective against the coronavirus, its chief executive Albert Bourla sold shares worth $5.6 million.

There was nothing illegal about this, Pfizer said: the sale took place according to rules allowing company heads to sell shares under predetermined criteria, at a date or for a price set in advance, to avoid any suspicion of insider training.

Under the same rules, several Moderna officials have sold shares worth more than $100 million in recent months.

That company has not placed a single product on the market since its creation in 2010, but the federal government has committed to paying it up to $2.5 billion if its vaccine proves effective.

Moderna shares have soared from $19 at the beginning of the year to a current level of $90.

The boss of Novavax, for his part, sold $4.2 million in shares on August 18, just over a month after the announcement it would receive public financing of $1.6 billion.

Accountable US, a nonpartisan taxpayers' advocacy group, has calculated that from the start of the federally coordinated effort to develop vaccines on May 15 until August 31, officials at five pharmaceutical companies made more than $145 million by selling shares.

When Does a ‘Glitch’ Become a Coup? It’s Time to Regulate America’s Fly-by-Night Voting Machine Monopoly

It’s a frightening thing to consider, but the ultimate success of democracy in the United States largely hinges on the integrity of just three voting machine companies, which conduct their affairs with almost no government oversight and regulation. Unless that changes, the greatest democracy will start looking like a banana republic in the eyes of the world.

In January 2020, the CEOs of the three companies that produce over 80 percent of voting machines in the U.S. – Election Systems & Software (ES&S), Dominion Voting Systems and Hart InterCivic – were grilled by members of Congress over the question of security at the ballot box. Perhaps it would surprise exactly nobody that the 90-minute discussion focused almost entirely on the possibility of foreign actors, specifically China and Russia, interfering in the U.S. election system. Within such a predictably narrow frame of reference – Russia! Russia! Russia! – it becomes much easier to eliminate the possibility that domestic actors may also be tempted to tamper with the vote. At the same time, Russia provides the perfect smokescreen in the event someone gets caught with their hand in the election cookie jar. But already I digress.

Currently, Dominion Voting Systems, the supplier of voting machines in 28 states, is coming under fierce scrutiny after it was reported that thousands of votes in one Michigan country intended for Donald Trump went to his challenger, Joe Biden. Officials were quick to point out that the ‘glitch’ was due to silly “human error,” as opposed to any mechanical flaws with the voting machines.

According to Michigan state government website, “[T]he erroneous reporting of unofficial results … was a result of accidental error on the part of the Antrim County Clerk (who) accidentally did not update the software used to collect voting machine data and report unofficial results.”

While I am no computer specialist, it is hard to imagine how a software update would have done anything to prevent one candidate from receiving the votes intended for another unless it was originally programmed to behave that way. But again, I am no expert.

Another state that relies heavily on Dominion Voting Systems is Georgia, which received 30,000 new voting machines last year – “the largest rollout of elections equipment in U.S. history,” according to the Government Technology newsletter. Following the announcement of the $107 million contract, the same newsletter foretold of problems down the road, saying the “new voting system is expected to be quickly challenged in court by voters who say it remains vulnerable to hacking and tampering, despite the addition of paper ballots.”

Those fears were quickly realized on the morning of Nov. 3, Election Day, when a technological glitch wreaked havoc on voting in two Georgia counties (a side note to this story is that Georgia officials blamed the abrupt pause in vote counting on a burst pipe at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. Thus far, however, officials have not been able to produce any evidence that such an incident took place).

While the source of the ‘glitch’ is still under investigation, one state ballot supervisor, Marcia Ridley, initially told POLITICO on Nov. 3 that Dominion, which prepares the poll books for counties before elections, “uploaded something last night, which is not normal, and it caused a glitch.” That reported incident prevented staff from programming the voter smart cards for the voting machines. Ridley continued, “That is something that they don’t ever do. I’ve never seen them update anything the day before the election.”

However, Dominion officials, while admitting there was a problem with the poll books, deny there was any last-minute update made to the poll books after Oct. 31 (a press release by Dominion countered this and other allegations, including that the Pelosi family, the Feinstein family, or the Clinton Global Initiative has any relationship with the company).

War Started In Western Sahara

The new war between Morocco and the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army has started in western Sahara after a 30-year ceasefire in the region.

HINT: Western Sahara is the disputed region on Africa’s Atlantic coast. Morocco controls about 80% of the territory, including its phosphate deposits and fishing waters. The official position of the Kingdom is that Western Sahara is an integral part of the country despite the UN rulling that the Sahrawi people have a right of self-determination. The Polisario Front, with some support from Alrgeria, fought a war for independence from 1975 to 1991 that ended in September 1991 under the aegis of the UN. However, the planned referendum on self-determination has been repeatedly postponed due to a dispute between Morocco and the Polisario Front over the composition of the electorate and the status of the territory. Negotiations on the situation in Western Sahara involves Morocco, the Polisario Front, Algeria and Mauritania. They have been suspended for several months.

On November 13, Morocco launched a military operation to open the road to Mauritania in the Western Sahara region claiming that this operation is needed to end “provocations” by the Polisario Front (outlawed in the parts of Western Sahara under Moroccan control, while it is considered the legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people in the region by the UN) and “put a stop to the blockade” of trucks travelling between Moroccan-controlled areas of the disputed territory and neighbouring Mauritania, and “restore free circulation of civilian and commercial traffic.”

The Moroccan military already seized the Guergarat border crossing located in the no-man land formally controlled by the Polisario Front and its Armed Force – the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army. The crossing is located on the southern coast of the disputed Western Sahara, along the road leading to Mauritania, some 380km north of Nouakchott, a buffer zone patrolled by a United Nations’ peacekeeping force.

In response, the Polisario Front said that Morocco had broken their ceasefire and “ignited war” and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front Mr. Brahim Ghali issued a presidential decree (he’s the head of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic) announcing the end of the commitment to the ceasefire signed between the Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco in 1991.

“After the Kingdom of Morocco violated the ceasefire agreement on 13 November 2020 by attacking civilians peacefully protesting in front of the illegal Guerguerat breach, and opening three new breaches within the Moroccan military wall in flagrant violation of the Military Agreement No. 1 signed between the Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco under the auspices of the United Nations, in implementation of Security Council Resolution 690 of 1991, which provides for the organization of the referendum of self-determination for the Sahrawi people, and based on the decisions of the extraordinary session of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front held on 07/11/2020, and the powers conferred upon him by the Basic Law of the Polisario Front and the constitution of the SADR, Mr Brahim Ghali, the President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, issued a presidential decree on November 13, 2020, declaring the end of the commitment to the ceasefire, which the Moroccan occupation had undermined and the consequent resumption of armed struggle in defense of the legitimate rights of our people,” the statement of the Presidency of the Republic said.

As of November 15, the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army announced that it has been carrying out attacks on forces of the Kingdom in response to their violations. They allegedly conducted several attacks inflicting casualties along the Moroccan Western Sahara Wall (often called by Polisario supporters ‘the Wall of Shame’). The Moroccan Western Sahara Wall is an approximately 2,700 km long military barrier that separates the Moroccan areas on the west from the Polisario-controlled areas on the east.

The Ministry of National Defense of the Polisariio government claimed that several of its military bases, support points and supply centers came under fire, the most recent of which was the attack last night on the 13th base of the 67th legion in the Bakari sector near Tinelik.

Local sources report that sporadic clashes regularly appear between the sides in the region.

A New Chapter in Brazil’s Exploitation of the Amazon

One of the publicised strategies of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, at a time when the world shifted its attention to climate change, was to announce his intention to industrialise the Amazon – an open invitation to the U.S. and multinational companies to ravage indigenous terrain. In February this year, Bolsonaro attempted to undermine the Constitution through Bill 191, which restricts territorial use for indigenous communities. The Brazilian President justified the exploitation by falsely attributing government policy to indigenous hopes. “They are just as Brazilian as we are,” Bolsonaro declared, “so they will welcome economic exploitation inside their territory.”

Indigenous communities in the Amazon, as well as environmental activists, have no protection from the state. A Human Rights Watch report published in 2019 states that since 2009, out of 300 killings attributed to loggers, who are protected by the state, only 14 were brought to trial. State institutions were found to have been complicit in some cases – four killings happened in police stations in urban areas.

Bolsonaro’s political alignment with the U.S. under Donald Trump might be coming to a stand-still. There have been no congratulations so far from Brazil for U.S. President-Elect Joe Biden, who has warned of economic sanctions on Brazil if deforestation is not halted. After declaring Trump as “not the most important person in the world,” Bolsonaro proceeded to threaten the incoming U.S. administration over the possible climate change policies that will affect the Brazilian government. “Just diplomacy is not enough … When saliva runs out, one has to have gunpowder, otherwise it doesn’t work.”

Only there is no defender of the Amazon in either Biden or Bolsonaro. A change in U.S. governance does not translate to abandoning the exploitation of Latin Americas resources. Bringing the U.S. back to the international fold on issues such as the Paris Agreement is still based upon a capitalist venture that does not recognise the indigenous people’s rights.

According to Reuters, indigenous leaders in Brazil have called for “concrete policy commitments” from the U.S. to curb deforestation in favour of sustainable development. But sustainable development is alien to the U.S. and its history in Latin America, where the indigenous populations are always the first victims in the power play between governments and multinational companies.

More than 3,000 applications have been received by Brazil’s mining authority to wreak havoc in the Amazon. Brazil’s constitution allows mining in indigenous territory only if it serves the national interest. With Bolosonaro and the changes he seeks to enact, the national interest will no longer be a state of exception but rather an exploitative norm.

International outcry has mostly centred upon the Amazon fires, which Bolsonaro had accused environmental activists of starting, while refusing international aid to curb the spread. Once again, there has yet to be a collective, international approach that amalgamates environmental protection with indigenous protection; the latter is the only safeguard of the land, and no government is willing to acknowledge either knowledge or role of indigenous communities.

It is likely that the Amazon’s indigenous communities will be pawns once again in a new political battle that pits international interests against those of Bolsonaro. Between Bolsonaro’s intent to industrialise indigenous terrain, and the international community’s refusal to acknowledge the indigenous role and rights as regards territory and environmental protection, there is little to consider a triumph. Turning to the UN is a hopeless endeavour, while governments are known to systematically exclude indigenous communities. Biden or Trump, the fact remains that Brazil’s Amazon, and its people, are still threatened by a system that values land according to profit, generating an imbalance that can only be restored by allowing indigenous rule over indigenous terrain.

Russian Advanced Electronic Warfare System Spotted In Karabakh

Russia has deployed the advanced RB-341V “Leer-3” electronic warfare system in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The system, that is based on KamAZ-5350 6×6 trucks, was spotted with Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh in a video that was shared by Global News on November 14.

Leer-3 was developed by the St Petersburg-based LLC Special Technology Center, a subsidiary of the KRET Concern. The system, which was first presented in 2015, was designed to monitor and attack GSM communications.

Each Leer-3 system relays on one or two Orlan-10 drones carrying electronic warfare payloads. The drone can stay in the air for 16 hours and has an operation range of 140 km.

The electronic warfare system can:

Suppress mobile communications;

Simulate a cellular station in the GSM 900 and GSM 1800 bands ranges and send false signals;

Conduct reconnaissance by determining the points of radiation of devices in GSM networks;

Detect subscriber points, including mobile phones, tablets and other communication systems;

Locate subscriber points on a digital map;

Transmit the coordinates of subscriber points to artillery crews;

Observe the situation on the battlefield and the movement of troops from air;

Assess the state of ground and naval facilities;

Survey the field.

The Leer-3 system was deployed in Syria, where it provided electronic warfare capabilities for Syrian and Russian forces combating terrorist groups.

The system will allow Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh to monitor the implementation of the November 9 peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Russia is planning to deploy 1,960 troops, 90 armored personnel carriers, 380 vehicles and special equipment units in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Civil War In Ethiopia: Conflict Developments And Background

The armed clashes that broke out on Wednesday November 4 between the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) and Federal Government forces in the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia have spread and intensified. Ethiopia’s prime minister remains confident that the military operation (which he insists on calling a ‘law enforcement operation’) will be successfully concluded in short order and has rebuffed all suggestions for negotiations and offers of international mediation. However, the TPLF could prove to be a very formidable opponent on the battlefield, and there is the additional risk that the conflict could spread to other parts of the country and perhaps even draw in other countries in the region.

Introduction

The background of the latest armed clashes in the north of Ethiopia is the multiple political and social crises that have plagued the ethnically-based federal system created in 1994, mostly generated by persistent ethnic rivalries and clashes and the incessant disputes between regionally-based elites (particularly from the Tigray, Amhara and Oromo regions) for control over the Federal Government, institutions and finances.

The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), which controls the Regional State of Tigray, has been in a bitter conflict with the central government for the last two years. The deepening of this dispute over the last few months is the immediate cause of the outbreak of civil war in the country, and the leadership of Tigray has declared that it is ready for a protracted military confrontation with the central government if necessary.

Civil War In Ethiopia: Conflict Developments And Background

The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF)

The outbreak of armed conflict between the TPLF and the Federal Government threatens to tear the country apart, and poses a grave threat to regional security – with the collapse of the constitutional arrangements that sought to resolve ethnic and political rivalries and disputes pacifically, Ethiopia has been experiencing the politicization of ethnicity with increasingly deadly consequences, fuelling the growth of mass protests, armed insurgency, massacres, ‘ethnic cleansing’, acts of terrorism and separatist sentiments.

Among these, in the Regional State of Oromo, 167 people died in July of this year during the suppression of mass protests and riots and over 4 thousand people were arrested, including prominent opposition politician and media mogul Javar Mohammed. There is the additional risk that Eritrea may become involved in the civil war that has broken out in the north of Ethiopia, and the conflict also greatly increases the ever-present potential for explosive conflict in the south between the Federal Government and the Somali clans of the Regional State of Somali and adjacent areas, which in a worst case scenario could provoke or incite a new round of confrontation with neighbouring Somalia.

Mass protests and ethnic nationalism had been kept ruthlessly in check under the Marxist Derg regime (1974-1991) installed after a military coup that ousted long-time Emperor Haile Selassie, as well as during the more than two decades of Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) rule that followed, during which the ruling coalition controlled all 547 seats in Ethiopia’s Federal Parliament.

The TPLF was for most of this time the dominant party in the EPRDF coalition, the other members being the Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM), the Oromo People’s Democratic Organisation (OPDO), and the Southern Ethiopian People’s Democratic Movement (SEPDM), each representing political factions from the most important regions of the country.

NYC Subway Conductor Part of Ring Indicted for Trafficking Guns Purchased in the South to Sell on Brooklyn Streets

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, together with New York City Police Commissioner Dermot Shea, announced the indictment of an alleged gun trafficking ring that purchased firearms in South Carolina and Virginia that were then transported on the Iron Pipeline and destined to be sold on the streets of Brooklyn.

District Attorney Gonzalez said, “This indictment is part of our multi-pronged approach to stem the surge in gun violence that we have seen in Brooklyn and throughout the entire city this year. We are determined to work with the Police Department to focus specifically on the drivers of crime, including those responsible for the proliferation of firearms by bringing them to the streets of Brooklyn. I commend the detectives, especially the undercovers, and my prosecutors for their joint efforts in this important case.”

Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said, “This indictment is another example of how the NYPD and our law-enforcement partners remain focused on eliminating illegal guns from the streets of New York City. Bringing gun traffickers to justice is dangerous work, but the NYPD remains committed to protecting New York City communities and keeping people safe. I commend the members of our Firearms Suppression Section, and specifically the Firearms Investigations Unit, and the Brooklyn District Attorney for their efforts that resulted in these indictments.”

The District Attorney identified the defendants as Montoun Hart, 49, of Brownsville, Brooklyn; Vernal Douglas, 49, of Flatlands, Brooklyn; Christopher Hodges, 31, of Walterboro, South Carolina; and Ira Jones, 42, of South Boston, Virginia. The defendants have been variously charged in a 139-count indictment with first-, second- and third-degree criminal sale of a firearm; second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon; fourth-degree conspiracy and related charges. Hart and Douglas were arraigned in Brooklyn Supreme Court. Hart has been remanded and bail was set at $750,000 for Douglas. Jones is awaiting extradition from Virginia. Hodges is being sought.

The District Attorney said the investigation spanned from October 2019 to October 2020 and began based on information obtained about an individual who was allegedly known as a gun merchant in Brownsville. It is alleged that on November 4, 2019, an undercover detective met defendant Montoun Hart for the purpose of purchasing firearms from the defendant. The undercover allegedly made six controlled firearm purchases from the defendant from November 4 to November 19, 2019.

The undercover then facilitated a meeting between the defendant and another undercover, who posed as an associate of the original undercover and who would purchase firearms on his behalf. Between December 3, 2019 and December 30, 2019, the second undercover allegedly made three controlled firearm purchases from the defendant.

In Striking Reversal, One Bank Warns That 2021 Could See The "Biggest Fiscal Contraction In History"

Echoing the skepticism voiced on Friday by BofA CIO Michael Hartnett who bucked the Wall Street trend of optimism, and said to "sell the vaccine", another BofA strategist, Jared Woodard, writes in the bank's latest Research Investment Committee note that a confirmed Biden presidency & GOP-led Senate would imply modest growth and corporate profits, maximum QE, and mediocre returns to risky assets, quite contrary to the euphoria gripping Wall Street which is now projecting the S&P rising to (or above) 4,500 by 2022.

Not so fast, Woodard says, arguing that the closest comparison may be 2010-2015 with secular stagnation, an easy Fed, and an iceberg of austerity and when winners were US growth stocks & HY bonds (similar to now). As a result, while he expects small policy progress on Global-to-Local, health care coverage, and a capex/R&D rebound, he anticipates only temporary gains for cyclicals & inflation. AS a result, the "all one trade" market - which he first defined back in August - is still with us.

Meanwhile, according to Woodard, the greatest risk is that benefits of a divided government are front-loaded.

This means that while good vaccine news & macro data may be short-term bullish they will prove to be "medium-term bearish if used as a pretext for tighter budgets, with 2021 set to be the fastest fiscal contraction on record."

Indeed, in a world where what goes up must come down - unless extended indefinitely which however can't happen under gridlock - Woodard warns that after the fastest budget expansion on record, "the fastest fiscal contraction ever looms."

Mass exodus from NYC is happening as New York state to lose $1.4 billion in tax revenue: report

New York City is in real trouble

Some extremely worrisome data has recently emerged providing a glimpse into the economic downfall of the real estate market in New York during the coronavirus pandemic.

The New York Post published a report detailing how New Yorkers are fleeing NYC in vast numbers. According to data from the United States Postal Service, more than 300,000 NYC residents have moved out of the Big Apple since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Post found that 295,103 New Yorkers filed change of address requests from March 1 to Oct. 31. However, the total amount is well over 300,000 once you consider that a single change of address would likely include numerous multiple-person households.

From March through July, there were 244,895 change of address requests to locations outside of New York City, more than double the 101,342 during the same period in 2019.

The postal data shows residents are moving out of the city, but staying in the tri-state area. The top five destinations are: East Hampton, N.Y., (2,769), Jersey City, N.J. (1,821), Southampton, N.Y. (1,398), Hoboken, N.J. (1,204), and Sag Harbor, NY (961). There were 558 people who moved to Greenwich, C.T.

The mass exodus could be derived from a number of reasons, including fear of living in a dense city during a pandemic, stringent COVID-19 restrictions set forth by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio, a summer that saw skyrocketing shootings, and the effects of a mandatory $15 minimum wage.

The lack of real estate sales and apartment rentals have contributed to a massive drop in tax revenue. The Real Estate Board of New York released a report last week that New York City and state have collectively lost $1.4 billion in tax revenue so far this year.

"Investment sales and residential sales year-to-date totaled $34.5 billion, a 50% decline compared to the same time period in 2019, causing a 39% decline in tax revenue," the REBNY reported.

Civil unrest and violent riots plus high coronavirus death totals have hurt the city with tourism. New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer told Market Watch in July, "In the midst of the pandemic, we are beginning to realize that our 62 million [annual] tourists will no longer be in the short term."

'Shameful': Ivanka Trump Blasts Media For 'Total Silence' on Violence Against Conservatives

The development comes a day after a huge crowd of Trump supporters gathered in Washington, DC to protest against alleged voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, as well as to back the Republican president. Police reported that more than 20 people were arrested after anti-Trump protesters clashed with the president’s supporters.

Donald Trump’s daughter and senior adviser Ivanka Trump has condemned the media’s coverage of attacks on conservatives, calling it "shameful" and "dangerous". The 39-year-old took to Twitter to express her frustration at incidents of attacks on Trump’s supporters. Ivanka noted that the media would have reacted differently had the victims of the violence belonged to the other side of the political aisle.

The media’s near total silence about the physical violence being perpetrated against conservatives is shameful & dangerous.

​The mainstream media declared Joe Biden the winner of the vote before all ballots were counted. Trump has claimed that there was widespread voter fraud and that the Democrat won only because the "election was rigged".
