I came across something the past couple days where I've been trying to get diggs together for this. I'll need your help to get more diggs of the individuals involved, but here's some stuff to help you start. Some of this stuff may surprise you. Oh - and this Foundation is indeed registerd as a charity like all of them!

ABDUL LADHA AND HIS WIFE

Abdul Ladha, according to his website, is:

  • Founder and Chiarman of Overture Development Corporation, a property investment and development company

  • Former CEO of apparently active ableauctions.com (Remains registered and active in Arizona), with Jeremy Dodd as secretary. Jeremy Dodd of ETCO Electric Supply appears on Ladha's RelationshipScience profile.

  • (Former?) CEO of Dexton Technologies and Rapidfusion.com

  • Board member of Lift the Children, founded by John Volken (German-Canadian) of the The John Volken Foundation and operator of the John Volken Academy

  • A supporter of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Aga Khan Development Network, Worldwide Orphans Foundation, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Interestingly POTUS appears to be in one of the pics that Ladha posted on his website…wonder if POTUS and Q know about this operation.

  • Member of Council, Hoover Institute, Stanford University

  • Founding member, Women's B.A.N.K Development Group (now known as Women's Bank of Canada) and contributing member of Women's B.A.N.K. Society

  • Founding director, Canadian Institute for Technological Advancement (CITA) → Vancouver Board of Trade and World Trade Centre cooperated in a joint venture of this organization

Abdul's wife is Hanifa Ladha, who is a pediatric physiotherapist at BCCH in Vancouver. On the Interests section of her LinkedIn profile is Collingwood School, who is links to quite a few of the students who attend the Spark program. You can find a list of the students here: Cross reference these students with Spark's founding partners (later in post) and you'll be able to confirm that individuals below are the ones who donated to this foundation.

Hanifa Ladha was at one point an insider trader for Hongli Clean Energy Technologies Corp, a coal and coke producer based in Pingdingshan, China, where she held $1M of shares. Interestingly on RelationshipScience, Abdul Ladha shows strong relationship likelihoods with multiple individuals from Hongli Clean Technologies Corp.

SPARK FOUNDATION

Spark is connected with Philanthropic Leadership Foundation (https://www.p-leadership-f.com), another of Ladha's organizations. Moar about Abdul Ladha:

Its course materials include a Stanford-based course on philanthropy, the history of philanthropy, impact investing, top foundations in the world, the role of philanthropy in organizations, and more. Course material is provided by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, UBS and the Rockefeller Foundation.

Students are taught philanthropy by philanthropists such as John Volken, David Foster, Chip Wilson (founder of Lululemon), Shannon O’Brian, Paul Christensen, Joe Segal, Petra Nemcova (Czech model, who founded the Happy Hearts → merged with David Campbell's All Hands Volunteers - David Campbell worked with Bill Clinton), Dalai Lama, Bill Clinton, Michelle Obama, Amed Khan, David Foster, Aga Khan, Stuart Weitzman, Ross Beaty, Frank Giustra, Ian Telfer, and Asia Kate Dillon (of the Orange is New Black show). I wish I could make some of this stuff up kek, but these are all names mentioned in their marketing material and Annual Gala brochures. Their annual gala also has an auction event where they raised funds too.

In 2019, the cost of the Junior Program was $2500 CAD per student, with $800 of the cost being eligible for a charitable tax receipt. The cost includes a uniform which looks like the ones you see in private schools…girls have a short skirt, which IMHO is too short. These uniforms are also worn at the annual gala.

In 2018, they taught students about the UN, the UN Youth Envoy, The General Assembly of the UN, the Red Cross, the World Bank, and the IMF. They also got to meet Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. In 2019, students visited the UAE to learn about their leading foreign aid efforts.

An example of what you will learn if you join the program:

Oh, and students also get a visit from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (see point 8 on page 7):

Attendees are given a CHIMP Foundation account, which is linked to the Charitable Impact Corporation. It proves donor-advised funds to its clients. The founder of CHIMP is John Bromley, son of Blake Bromley. Blake Bromley is a former Vancouver-based charity lawyer and the founder of Benefic, a charity consulting firm. Blake Bromley was also the lead foreign consultant to the government of China, advising their Ministry of Civil Affairs on drafting the country’s first law of charity. This project required him to have more than 100 meetings with senior government officials in Beijing, spanning a decade. Blake Bromley previously partnered with David Strangaway, the Chief of the Geophysics Branch at NASA responsible for the geophysical aspects of Apollo Missions, to create secular-based Quest University in Canada. I'll post a digg on Blake Bromley in a few days - lots of information to comb through.

Spark's philanthropy program has now been implemented as full credit course at the University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business. Spark is aiming to implement a curriculum of philanthropy in schools and institutions across Canada.
