Growing up as a "Christian" and not admitting that you are wrong can lead a person to telling his conscience to fuck off. If I had to guess, your husband was over corrective and there was a deficit of affection for your son as a child. Usually this will be the case because adults focus on religion and not Jesus. They want to be on the team but have no clue as to what Jesus is and what his purpose was. Christians create atheist all of the time because they have very little knowledge of the bible and an atheist can pull your bullshit apart quite easily. This is why the Jews hate Christians. 99% of Christians are bandwagon jumpers and cannot critically think for themselves so they just use their buzzwords and ritual speak but they don't use discernment. If you ask them they most certainly have discernment but bottom line is they are in stage 2 of the 4 stages of spiritual growth according to M. Scott Peck (a wonderful author).

I don't believe in Jesus anymore, I KNOW Jesus is real but that is none of your business. I studied the dark crafts for many years because I wanted to KNOW the truth, not just follow along like all of the lemming Christians. Don't get me wrong, I've met a couple of real Christians a few times but it was rare.
Your son needs to find out how to stop lying to himself. He is under a spell of avoidance with his conscience. This occurs with 99% of the Christians I councel. Basically you have to ask your son simple questions and let him come to the truth by using beguiling leading questions. Just make sure you make it look like he came up with the ideas and tell him how smart he is and how proud you are of him.
