The Australian stockmarket is currently in limbo after data issues meant stocks were unable to be traded less than an hour after the market opened.

The ASX 200 is currently flatlining at a positive 6484 points as IT teams work to establish a cause of the fault.

The ASX equity market is currently paused and there is no trading while we investigate market data issues. ASX apologises for the disruption and is working to rectify the issue as soon as possible.

Participants of Libyan Political Dialogue Agree to Continue Talks in One Week

The participants of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunisia have agreed to resume talks in one week, in an online format, UN Acting Special Envoy and Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Stephanie Williams said.

"We will continue to work on this [mechanism for selection of new executive positions], we are going to discuss this in a meeting coming up next week, I expect that a decision will be made very shortly to select the selection members," Williams told reporters at a briefing, broadcast on the UNSMIL Facebook page.

She added that there is good progress in the talks and the next meeting will be held via videoconference.

"We still have a lot of work to do, the participants must soldier on and I know that they will. We have already agreed to reconvene in about one week's time in a virtual meeting. At the next meeting, they will agree upon the selection mechanism for the executive authority, and in the coming days I’ve asked them to identify volunteers to form a legal committee to address the question of the constitutional basis for the election," Williams said.

On Friday, Williams said that the participants of the forum had agreed that the date for national elections on a constitutional basis should be on December 24, 2021, 70 years after Libya's Declaration of Independence.

According to UNSMIL, Libya needs a new executive, which includes establishing a new and reformed presidency council and an effective government of national unity with a separate prime minister to reach the stage to hold elections.

The participants of the forum have been working on defining the eligibility criteria and a mechanism for the selection of these new executive positions, according to Williams.

Sources close to the talks told Sputnik that more than half of the delegates at the forum want Williams to put off the vote on new executive positions until next month.

"[Out of 75 delegates], 42 participants of the forum had asked Stephanie Williams to postpone the vote on persons applying for top positions in the state until December 15," one source said, adding that the UNSMIL head wanted to hold the vote as early as Sunday.

Another source said that the vote was put off right away because the delegates had failed to reach an agreement on the executive positions.

Libya has been divided between two opposing governments since the overthrow and assassination of the country's long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The administrations known as the Government of National Accord (GNA) and the Libyan National Army (LNA) control the country's west and east, respectively. The eastern-based House of Representatives is aligned with the LNA.

Traders On Edge As China Faces $900 Billion Liquidity Shortage

Update: facing a potentially calamitous liquidity shortage, China buckled and despite hawkish commentary from its central bankers, moments ago the PBOC announced that it would offer a whopping 800 billion in MLF, which was not only vastly greater than the CNY 200BN whisper number, but was 200 billion more than the currently maturing MLF amount of 600 billion, indicating that what PBOC Deputy Governor Liu Guoqiang said recently when he warned that exiting easing measures was "a matter of time" and "necessary," was just a jawboning placeholder, and with China finding itself in a funding scramble, the PBOC not only delivered but left quite a bit of liquidity on top.

Here Are The Companies That Will Benefit The Most From A Covid Vaccine

In his latest Weekly Kickstart note published late on Friday, Goldman's David Kostin correctly notes that with all eyes on two major macro catalysts in recent weeks –the US elections and the potential for imminent vaccine approval – investors had mostly overlooked the 3Q earnings season. According to Kostin, this "lack of focus" was reflected in the unusual price performance of stocks beating on EPS during the recently-concluded earnings season, namely that whereas in the past, stocks that surpass consensus expectations typically outperform the S&P 500 by 100bps the trading day after reporting, this quarter those firms outperformed by just 9bp, the smallest in our 15-year history outside of 2Q 2017.

Incidentally, a few weeks earlier Bank of America put its own spin on this phenomenon, writing that the lack of upside which is due to stocks being priced to perfection, "smacks of the Tech Bubble, which was the only earnings season in history when surprises saw perverse rather than intuitive reactions – beats were not rewarded and misses were not penalized." The bank then ominously warned that "the market cracked after the 2Q earnings season when this happened."

Michigan House Member Files to Impeach Governor Gretchen Whitmer

State Rep. Matt Maddock (R), who is well-known in Michigan as a pro-Trump solid conservative, announced tonight that he is filing the paperwork in the Michigan House to start impeachment proceedings against Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer!

Whitmer has been repeatedly defying court orders limiting her COVID shutdown powers.

And rumors swirl that another Whitmer Michigan shutdown is looming, perhaps starting on November 18 and lasting three weeks. A rumor that she would shut down the state on Friday came and went, though Whitmer held a very odd press conference where Whitmer and her advisors scolded family members not to hug on Thanksgiving.

Maddock told the Gateway Pundit: “Something had to be done. She’s ruining this great state. Small businesses and most dine-in restaurants will be dead by the end of the year. She’s caused the deaths of many vulnerable elderly people who died alone, scared, and pointlessly. This was long overdue,” Maddock said.
